Ben Arfa – I Feel Good – It’s Nice To Be Back

Hatem Ben Arfa started the second half last night at Hartlepool,  and he almost scored a goal within minutes of starting his pre-season at Newcastle.

Ben Arfa – in action last night at Hartlepool

Ben Arfa looked good last night,  and there were some positive things to take from his second half display, including one of those runs through the center of the pitch,  and the Frenchman also looked in decent physical condition last night.

Ben Arfa has said he has kept himself fit over the last month or so, and one thing is clear – the mercurial French International wants to step up to the plate and get fit ready for the start of the season,  a week on Saturday against Spurs at home.

Ben Arfa was interviewed on the official Newcastle web-site after the terrific 5-1 win last night at Hartlepool, and he spoke in English – good for him:

“It was nice to be back on the pitch.” “I’m very happy that I played 45 minutes and I feel very good, and now I’m going to step it up to be ready quickly.”  “I was in the Euros and I’ve stopped for one month.”

“But I  ran on my holiday and I kept playing football with my friends.”   “And now I feel good, but I’m going to take it step by step.”  “It was most important to be on the pitch, to feel the sensation, to get back to feeling the pitch.”

“When you play a game, it’s most important to feel the sensation of the ball and with your team-mates.”

And Ben Arfa is in the French squad for next Wednesday, when France take on Uruguay at Le Havre, in Didier Deschamps first game in charge as the new France manager.

We should see Ben Arfa in action again on Saturday, along with his French team-mate Yohan Cabaye, who is yet to appear for Newcastle in pre-season, in the final warm-up game at Cardiff City.

Good for him, training while on his holiday.. Not many do that eh?
I feel its gunna be benny and marveaux attacking the wings this season, would be a shame for Jonas to take a seat on the bench but its time to let 2 quality wingers attack the game.

I don’t get why Ed thinks Cabaye hasn’t played for us in pre-season yet. He played against Braga when we won 2-1. He almost scored a goal!

Great to have HBA back and causing panic to opposition defenders. Cabaye has already played like 20min for us in Pre-Season Ed. He is yet to start though. I was gutted to miss out on today’s game.

Can’t wait to see the lads play a competitive match again. Hope we sign a couple of players we’re gonna need a few more.

Sounds like the so called junior signings don’t consider themselves as such. Bigirimana, Amalfitano and Good along wii Abeid, Vuckic, Sammy, Ferguson, Tavernier, Streete,Campbell sound ready!

Having a fit HBA at the start of the season is just another reason why our squad is stronger now than August last year. Having Marv and Gosling fit is like having two new players plus Bigi, Amalfitano and Good all look like they could do job and Tav, Abheid and Vuckic are coming through strong.

A big factor will also be that all of last years new signings are well settled and know the system. Yes, we need new players, but any fan who says the squad has been weakened by losing Guthrie, Smith, Lover and Best is way off the mark IMO.

The self belief in this squad is immense, I think we could be sensational this season. HWTL.

Mike Ashley is rumoured to be buying a stake in Rangers, possibly with a view for Sports Direct to sell their strip. Good move?

Good move for ashley no difference for us.. A team there size will always have a massive following.. Been in the 3rd dis means he can get the deal done cheap while still having the sane size fan base

What’s the word on Shola’s injury? Fair to say if he’s out we will be left fairly short attacking wise!

Was at the game last night and all players impressed me. I know it was only Hartlepool. Tavenier was excellent as an attacking left back, wonder if he could do the same on the right as he’s right footed. Marv was excellent as well. Luke James was Harlepool’s best player at 17 he looked dangerous. Pools deserved their goal for not giving up and played ok in second half. Altogether a very entertaining game.

We still have Sammy and Vuckic as attacking options, also Obertan unless he is sold to Swansea.
We could also play 4-5-1, since now we have so many AM.

I rarely seen articles about Jonas, he was one of the best players we have and played almost every game, gave 100% each game at any position, never stop running.

According to a journo he hobbled off but was happy after the game.
According to AP there didn’t seem to be much of a problem. But he did not mention any spesifics on the injury.

Jedi. Well it wasn’t during the game. He played the first half, looked pretty good and very fir, less top heavy than last season. Hopefully only a daft made up comment.

    @redondo
Jonas seems to be the hard worker that everyone forgets about atm.
I like Jonas, but i belive we have better players in every position he could play atm.
That’s my oppinion tho, so take it as that.
No doubt Jonas will start when the season begins.

Personaly not sure if Vuckic can cut it as a fwd yet. Obviously he is only young and will improve, but him Ober and Sammy seems a bit worrying to me.

I think this season we will play 4-2-3-1 formation. Used this in most of friendlies so why would Pards go back to a 4-4-2. Obviously the opposition might be taken into consideration. 4-2-3-1 suits us better and we can play better football

No chance Pards will sell Obertan. Problem with Obertan is he always wants to be so precise e.g. he rarely crosses the ball prefering to pass into to a specific player in the box. This often gets cut out. Last night on a few occasions he did one faint then kicked the ball on the outside, yes outside of the full back ran past him and crossed the ball into a good area. A bit like Bale does for Spurs. If he can do that on a regular basis he’ll be excellent for us. He’s hoping.
