Yohan Cabaye has not had an easy pre-season since he arrived back at Newcastle a few weeks ago, and he has only a short cameo appearance against Braga so far in this pre-season.
Yohan Cabaye – touch and go for game tomorrow
Apparently he’s been having a little trouble with his ankle, but it’s a minor injury, and we are hoping he can play in the game in South Wales tomorrow afternoon.
As we reported earlier today, if he doesn’t make that game then he could well miss the start of the season against Tottenham Hotspur a week tomorrow, and then Pardew would need to choose between Gosling, Vuckic, Abeid and Bigirimana, who can all play the attacking central midfield role alongside Cheick Tiote.
News in the Evening Chronicle this morning is that the French International is being assessed by the club’s medical staff today, and a late decision will be made tomorrow, on whether he can play at Cardiff City.
Cabaye needs games to get him match fit for the Tottenham game, and we had forgotten that he came on after 72 minutes against Braga in Portugal a couple of weeks, but that’s all the playing time he’s had so far this pre-season.
The longer he can play tomorrow the better, and if there’s a chance he can make the Tottenham game, Newcastle can always arrange a game in mid-week behind closed doors, and he wisely pulled out of the France game next Wednesday against Uruguay.
So when the team is announced tomorrow afternoon about 2:00pm, we will know if we have a problem with Yohan Cabaye being ready for the Tottenham game – we hope he can start tomorrow and get through the game without any mishaps.

Comment #41Also, as for Ashley putting effort into Rangers – I highly doubt Ashley has ANYTHING to do with transfers, other than setting budgets.

i think hes got his revenge on them by breaking up the stands!
But i do get where rotonda is coming from i doubt ashley would deliberatly not sign players, sabotaging his buisness, just cos he dislikes a few of the fans!

Comment #47Rangers have a big fan base all over the camp…
Ashley sells Rangers shirts/tracksuits/etc etc via Sports direct & makes a load of cash..
Good move for Ashley..
Plus he’ll get to advertise sports direct in Scotland..lol

Comment #49Selfreflection and a little bit of soulscreaching is always good, and I think if Fat Mick did that he would come to the conclusion that he is to blame for a lot of things.
…but if we the fans did the same I think we would fine out that holding a grudgeis never good and it is time to forgive and forget. 🙂
That is my perception of it all.

Yeah it’s a great move by Ashley from a business point of view because as you say he will make millions out of it short and long term, but surely he should see that if we add a few quality players we could get into the top 4 and that’s where the money is at and he’s not stupid as he wouldn’t be as rich as he is so it makes sense to put money into the club.

As far as I know Ashley will have nothing to do with the running of Rangers.
So it shouldnt effect us.
Dave Whelan had the exact same agreement with Rangers via JJb sports.

Comment #56Hatem…Whilst I agree a few select additions will improve our team, I don’t get everyone’s thought process on that equals top 4.
There are now more than 4 teams investing heavily or well for CL football. It’s good news as it means competition for the top spots, rather than the same teams each season.
It may make us more competitive, but it in no way means top 4 for us, so that may be why he’s not keen to throw the money at it, as it isn’t a guaranteed business decision as some make out on here.
