Newcastle Target Close To Making A Decision

It seems to be crunch time for crunch time Newcastle United target Vurnon Anita as he considers his options, and he seems to have three of them, join Newcastle, move to AC Milan or stay where he is at Ajax, who have offered him a new and improved contract.

Vurnon Anita – make up your mind time

We reported on Thursday morning that the 23 year-old has a new agent in Mino Raiola. who is Italian, and he’s known for being able to push through quick deals, and it’s been reported that Newcastle will go in for the Dutch International with a renewed bid.

There are also reports coming out of Italy that Raiola will try to get his new client to AC Milan, and it’s true that the agent does a number of deals with Italian clubs, but maybe that’s why this report has come out, and we don’t know if  there is any truth in it or pure speculation.

The report is in Corriere dello Sport in Italy, and if he moves to Milan he could join a former team-mate and pal there – Urby Emanuelson – who was a target of Newcastle when he was in his early twenties at Ajax.

Emanuelson has given some advice to his pal:

“I’ve given Vurnon my advice: of course, Newcastle is a great club and he can make that step.” “But it’s certainly not bad to stay at Ajax.”

Mino Raiola has guided Swedish International Zlatan Ibrahimovic in all his transfer moves, many to Italian clubs, and his latest move to French big spenders PSG, but it’s not clear whether AC Milan has any advantage over Newcastle, with Raiola now being his new agent.

All this doesn’t mean too much if Newcastle cannot agree a fee with his club Ajax, and that seems to have been the Achilles heel of all Newcastle’s attempted moves in the transfer market this summer.

Whether that can change and we can get Anita to Tyneside we don’t know, but it does seem that Vurnon is close to making a decision on his future.

Anita has talked about Newcatsle in lyrical tersm, so we must still be in with a good chance, if the club can increase their offer to the satisfaction of Ajax, and that is a big if.

I have to say until we were linked with him I had never heard of him so can’t really comment on whether I think he would be a good signing (if it happens) but the reports I have read and peoples comments have all been positive so I hope it happens

If it’s true and another club is chasing him, then it’s a certainty we won’t be signing him…unless he really wants to come here.

We can manage without him, especially if Jonas plays left side of a two man defensive midfield. Cb and cf are priorities imo.

Romelu Lukaku to NUFC on loan for the season? He will be useful option for Europa League games and in Jan if we lose Cisse & Ba. He seems to have set his sights higher than Fulham but wants to go out on loan to a Premier League side.

When whoever we are after is standing on the steps of SJP in his new stripey jumper – its a fair bet we have a new player!!

Until that happens its pure conjecture, guesswork, tea-leaf reading and some pure fabrication!!

Personally, I would love to see Anita playing alongside Tiote as it would strengthen the midfield and release Cabaye into a much more creative role.

    We can but hope!!

Let’s face it, the only close decision any of our targets are making at the moment will be cornflakes or weetabix

For Heaven’s sake let’s pay clubs the actual worth of these players if we want them (not what we think we can get away with) and get them in. We’ve got one week to the start of the season and three weeks to the close of the window.
Whatever the rights and wrongs and arguments of bringing players in (and I admit everyone has their own opinions), we HAVE to strengthen the squad for the coming season.
Not to do so would be stupidity on Ashley’s part and inviting an accusation of lack of ambition (or tight fistedness).

well we mite bid but its sure to be knocked back because it will be way below the players valuation! The story of the summer! I wish the window would just close now because its obvious were done. 3 reserve team players in, nice and cheap with a tidy little profit! Thats the transfer policy we have. Its great when it comes off but will our refusal to pay that extra bit for quality like debuchy, come back to haunt us? Only time will tell! And if nobody comes in, and ashley ends up getting a stake in Rangers, (which looks nailed on!) there will be toon fans very unhappy. Un-willing to invest in the toon, but totally committed to landing a stake in rangers to aid his one and only love, sports direct. The problem we have so far is that the 2 main players were chasing (anita, debuchy) have 2 or more years left on their contracts so we cant get bargains. Unless there are any free transfers about nobody is coming in

@pompeyjohn. Knowing Newcastle there will probably be a stumbling block on which milk to use.

Totally agree mate, sick of all this penny pinching..Debuchy is defo worth 8m. Just pay the damn cash & move on. Whats the difference in paying 6m +2m add ons and 8m upfront. Its just becoming really frustration, we should have all our targets thru the door.
