    Adam Campbell simples!

  • 2 Brutooon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:17 PM

    the WORST player is JONAS

  • 3 ochytoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:17 PM

    Ryan Taylor!!

  • 4 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:18 PM

Campbell by the sound of it

  • 5 hattambenarfa // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:18 PM

People say not to worry but it shows our defence suffers headless chicken syndrome, go one down and panic. Colo needs to sort it out, pull the team together , because its easy to see how santon simmo will lose confidence

  • 6 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:21 PM

Will Williamson ever learn the art of defending properly instead of being a clueless idiot. He isn’t even good enough for Conference South football

  • 7 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:22 PM

I’m voting Campbell since he played, he got pace into the team, and got two through chances for other players.
I dont care if i wasn’t there, i want a new Geordie Legend!!

  • 8 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:23 PM

    @Brutoon
    Where u there?

  • 9 GeordieAnt // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:23 PM

@King Shola…Williamson wasn’t even on for the first 3 goals….so how exactly are you blaming him?

  • 10 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:24 PM

    Mactoon
I think we all know by now not to take anything by face value with the toon! I get where your coming from, and tbf jimmy, its just the constant negativity! Like i said in the previous article i normally enjoy his posts but he seems on a bit of rampage at the mo, but maybe its just silly season getting to all of us!

  • 11 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:24 PM

I don’t have any qualms in blooding some of the youngsters in the prem this season. What’s the point getting negative we just have to hope cisse and ba scores more than the opposition in the matches!

  • 12 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:24 PM

Anyone at the match, give us their opinion?

  • 13 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:25 PM

@dannyo dam ryt I think Campbell should b with the first team full time

  • 14 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:27 PM

tads m8, I’ read you post back a thread and replied. We don’t know jimmy but he’s quite open with stuff and battling with health issues, I’m sure it’d be easy to be down in general with such problems.

  • 15 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:27 PM

    @davy
We can all have wishes and dreams but AP picks the team.
I hope he keeps hammering away and makes himself noticed.
AP saw today, that even when the entire team is going to shits, he has a 17 year old to bring in and change the flow, cause that’s what happened according to report.

  • 16 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:27 PM

Honestly sick of the negativity by some fans

  • 17 Beattie25 // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:29 PM

Raylor should never, ever play CM again.

Jonas should never, ever play AM again.

These are the things we have learnt

  • 18 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:29 PM

For spuds we should go back to 4-4-3 and hopefully benny, cisse, ba, tiote can put them to the sword

  • 19 nufc90 // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:29 PM

Davybtoon same mate. It’s only preseason, means nothing. West ham have had a poor preseason, spurs have and man united are struggling to score goals don’t see them overreacting. This is pretty much the same squad as last season we’ll do well. Any players brought in is a bonus

  • 20 hattambenarfa // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:30 PM

As long as we have learnt, playing two cm is risky,

BA and cisse doesn’t seem to work, the question is can either form a partnership with campbell

  • 21 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:31 PM

    Mactoon
Yeah sorry maye didnt see your reply also didnt relise he was struggling healthwise so yeah prob is easy to get on a downer!

Soz to hear that jimmy all the best with your health may not always agree with ya but were all toon fans best wishes

  • 22 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:33 PM

Nufc90 exactly Chelsea had there starting 11 play the other day got beat off Brighton 3-1 it’s all about fitness, n it’s better that happens today so pardew can work on them than it happen next week

  • 23 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:33 PM

On a positive note i think we will be fine in the prem and predict a nice 3-2 victory over spuds and a comfortable top ten finish. I believe good will be ahead of willo by christmas

  • 24 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:34 PM

Forget Campbell’s age he has talent lets bloody use it instead of rotten the reserves for 3 seasons

  • 25 markmac // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:35 PM

King shola, sounds gud but dnt reckn the ref wud let u get away with that lol,

  • 26 ToonDownSouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:35 PM

    MacToon

Yeah, that’s fair enough mate. I’ve never had a problem with the guy – just trying to give those who do the benefit of the doubt.

    And the problem with all the gossip these days, is it’s bloody hard to distinguish between fans trying to pass on something they’ve heard, and kids on ego trips because they’ve got everyones attention with some half baked rumours (;

Interesting what said about it being more of a town than a city. I wouldn’t know, I’ve never been in Newcastle for any real extended period. I’d probably say the same about Southampton though, where I lived for a few years. It’s a city where everyone follows one club, so you get that feeling.

  • 27 t00ntime // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:36 PM

Williamson is pretty clueless, didnt see the game today lyk but remember the sunderland game… The ball went over everyone and for no reason williamson was trying to steal the mackems shirt :S

Colo +williamson are both slow but colo has a football brain and can out think most strikers and get vital interceptions and headers in+ he knows how to cut people off

Williamson on the other hand is some how average in the air (even though he is lyk 2m tall lol) he doesnt know how to cut people off (he just chases them) and doesnt have much of football brain… Last season he seemed to be getting better as the season went on but was definatly a weaker link then simmo

Who is to blame well we cant just blame one player, u never can cause if 10players are playing world class we wud of won…

Lets hope its just pre season jitters and AP sorts it out (still think we are clueless going forward with out cabaye/ben arfa lyk)

  • 28 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:38 PM

everyone said last season our defence was weak and it is but we contributed 15 clean sheets with the same personnel and if saylor stays fit most of the season I can’t see why we can’t do the same again.

  • 29 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:38 PM

U lot won’t agree but I’ve said it all pre season tavernier should start with colo he’s been the best player all summer along with biggie

  • 30 t00ntime // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:39 PM

Cisse + ba will be our 2 strikers this season, and dont say there partnership doesnt work they havr played a max of 20games together and lyk 5 as a striker partnership (most of the time it was 4-3-3) give them time amd we will see what happens

Do agree campbell shud atleast get sum minutes next season!

  • 31 ToonDownSouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:40 PM

    toontime

I know you weren’t blaming Williamson, but thought I should point out that he wasn’t even on the pitch for the first 3 goals!

  • 32 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:40 PM

Where would you play tav righback or centreback?

  • 33 Conaldo (The Wizard) // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:40 PM

Brutoon. Please do not start bashing Jonas all te time. It’s just borin really. No body cares If you don’t like him. I think you’ll find a lot of people respect his commitment ad work rate and would take a lot more players like him than players with just talent and no heart.

  • 34 mushy // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:40 PM

If todays result at Cardiff has any bearing on managements intention to spend money on new players whatsoever, answer me this question….

Are they MORE or LESS likely to buy new players?

  • 35 KINGSMILL (The Poster Formerly Known as Niff) // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:41 PM

    Supprised Brutoon didn’t slam Shola…

  • 36 gringo burt // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:41 PM

i dont mind getting beat today, the thing a do mind is, that was our best back four and we were 3 down in no time. friendly yes,but still got to be pro

  • 37 ochytoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:41 PM

    TDS
Speaking of Southamton, will you be attending the away game there this season?

  • 38 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:41 PM

Kingshola – I’d play him cb but if ppl want staylor in there I’d hav him rb

  • 39 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:43 PM

TDS, sometimes it can be like everyone knows your business here, talk to somebody and before you know it you have mutual friends and if I were to ever have an affair, Newcastle would be the last place I’d want to do it lmao ;-)

  • 40 t00ntime // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:43 PM

@tds i never understand how sum fans blame 1 player for losing a game, williamson and simmo got it all last season whenever we lost, atleast this time williamson cant be blamed for the whole game lol

  • 41 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:43 PM

Wasn’t there but from what I’ve heard rtaylor terrible in cm role n Simpson shocking aswell n to blame for 2 goals

  • 42 ToonDownSouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:44 PM

    ochy

Should do, as long as I’ve got money. I’m at Uni in Bath, so hopefully I’ll get to Swansea, Southampton and Reading at least.

Barely got to a game last year, but I’ve finally got a job ;)

  • 43 GeordieToon89 // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:45 PM

Stevie T is much better than Tavernier!..Tav is a class RB and i’m hoping he’ll make that his own, he’ll get destroyed at CB by better prem teams

  • 44 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:45 PM

Tavernier excelled at centreback in preseason action but i would start saylor and collo. Third choice would be tavernier then good. for now i don’t have any issues with simmo at rb for the start of the season. Please no injuries or suspensions to krul, collo and saylor

  • 45 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:45 PM

ITV4 are showing Real v Celtic, 6.30 ko, might be worth a watch.

Still no one who was at the match given us a report yet?

  • 46 hattambenarfa // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:47 PM

I’m gonna put this out there. I love santon think he’s a great player but everytime he’s in defence our defence suffers. I don’t know what it is but the defence seems less of a unit when he plays. having said that this season may prove better as he has adapted more. If pards has to make do with what he has that’s fine by me see more of tav and the rest of the youngsters

Good to see ferguson play a game today n sammi back on Monday

  • 52 ochytoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:50 PM

    TDS
Awesome, I’m hopefully off to Uni in September but there’s no way I’m missing the Soton game. Would be nice to at least know there’s a fellow blogger in the crowd, don’t know any Toon fans* in my area.

*I know one but the guys an utter knob cheese.

  • 53 King Shola // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:50 PM

matt jarvis not good enough and his transfer fee would be way too high. maybe as back up if he was around £1m

  • 54 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:50 PM

We could put Simpson at centre back and start Williamson on the left wing. It’s good to have versatile players. These players will excel in those positions due to their attributes.

After todays performance, I just think we need to sign one striker.

  • 55 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:51 PM

Jarvis good player but id honestly play fergie or sammi

  • 56 Sazzer // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:52 PM

I didn’t see the game but sounds a lot like some of the games we had last season. Wigan, Tottenhamn, second half against Fulham.

  • 57 JayToon4life // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:52 PM

Was at the game sat in the Cardiff area…what a poor game cambell was goos…marveaux played welll obertan shud be left in wales to join Swansea…. Was Apollo poor hiontrol and passing was crap…I was even saying before the game I was saying give him time but afchance…he is jus a Manu reject and today shows he wasn’t even championship quality…tiote didn’t have a great game roll on nxt week annoyed we left Benny cabay ba and cisse at home would have been a different game otherwise….

  • 58 Sazzer // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:53 PM

Jarvis is too expensive for his quality.

  • 59 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:53 PM

id be pretty pissed off if west ham were the team that had a bid accepted for remy,

    crap team
    crap manager
but still buying everyone , wtf

  • 71 santonthenewmaldini // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:58 PM

At least it wasn’t Bellamy playing for Cardiff we would have conceded even more goals!!!

Anyone think Pardew has made us play poor on purpose to keep Spurs guessing?!?Heres Hoping

There was some weird choices like Raylor and Jonas in CM positions rather than giving Gosling and Abeid a run out?!?

  • 72 pardews plan B // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:00 PM

I think we should sign jarvis up. He always looked fantastic for warbury

  • 73 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Won’t b west ham ain’t got the cash that’s why they wanted Carroll on loan, won’t b spurs bcoz they getting that daimo n adebayor

  • 74 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:00 PM

Replace Simpson with Raylor and then you’ve got a good team.

  • 75 JayToon4life // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:01 PM

Davyb campbell played a good few mins quick played a few tidy passes had a couple of chances and should have got a pen defo for small euro games too early for prem IMO but good all the same…pards didn’t change formation 3 nil down and a frontline with ameobi on hhis own was a mistake

  • 76 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:02 PM

I thought Kilcline summed it up perfectly last thread:

    kilcline // Aug 11, 2012 at 5:11 PM

No injuries, just another run out. We will be fine.

  • 77 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:03 PM

Simpson is good in the air so it doesn’t matter about the height. Williamson can become the new Denilson. He just needs to get a bit of tuition from Linford Christie.

  • 78 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:03 PM

    @davy
    Some mean that it’s Tottenham.

  • 79 Ian Toon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:04 PM

Nothing that happened today will influence who comes in or goes out .
I wasn’t at the game but a mate who was says we played at exhibition pace – Tiote aside. Jonas started brightly and then went through the motions. Simpson and Taylor looked as if they had never played together before. Even Coloccini looked as if he couldn’t be asked. Marv was poor in the hole after being outstanding against pool. What he thought confirmed the above was when Campbell came on at the end and clearly wanted to impress in the short time left.
There is an almost complete over reaction to a pre season friendly prior to a period of intense activity when it matters. From past experience when we have excelled pre season we’ve disappointed during the season.

  • 80 pardews plan B // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:04 PM

@jay good point but its not about the result. Plus i think he played these tactics just to get game time for the lads he wanted

  • 81 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:05 PM

Replace Ketsbaia9 with Angry Man the Angry Fan and u’ve got a better blog.
    U troll u….

  • 82 nufcjohn // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:05 PM

sky sports news have just said remy are in talks with a un-names epl club. now i believe it

  • 83 IPToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:05 PM

The ONLY potential positive to take from todays game is that hopefully everyone will realise Ryan Taylor isnt good enough for the first team. Im not being harsh and i dont dislike the bloke but he is never comfortable in possession and is far too slow.

  • 84 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:05 PM

Mactoon @76 couldn’t of summed it up any better

  • 85 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:06 PM

lol Dannyo, we lose out on the entertainment factor then.

  • 86 iggystinger // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:06 PM

The cardiff result doesnt mean anythin no need to panic the same happened when we played our first preseason game when we got relegated we got pumped everybody thought we were in the shite house but we went on and ran riot in the league won it at a canter so to me thos results not important the season starts nxt week CMON the TOON

  • 87 GeordieToon89 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:07 PM

davybtoon – Marseille president has said they’ve accepted a bid now aswell apparently..loads of twatterers are saying its us like but have to wait and see, hope so like unreal player..

As for Jarvis they’ve just rejected a £9million bid from West Ham for him, no way he is worth close to that never mind more!! £5million at the absolute max

  • 88 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:07 PM

  • 93 toonarmydownsouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:11 PM

I genuinly think spuds have ended there pursuit of remy a while back, i have a few mates who are spuds fans and the rumour around the club is ABV wants sturridge and leandro but you never know would love it if had signed remy though cracking player!!

  • 94 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:11 PM

We lost Vertonghen to Spurs, so we don’t want to lose Remy as well. He’ll fit in well with us. Marseille need to raise some cash, so £12-13m will be about right.

  • 95 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:11 PM

    @davy
I certainly hope Remy happens mate.
Think that would calm everyone, not most, everyone.

  • 96 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:13 PM

Yea spurs scrapped remy interest long time ago I reckon it’s us

  • 97 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:13 PM

  • 98 BelfastMagpie87 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:14 PM

Think Ed should scrap the man of the match vote when we get hammered! lol

  • 99 kilcline // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:14 PM

Remy would give us the much needed pace we need up top, we have not had a striker who can run the channels and stretch teams since Bellamy left. Cisse is quick in his mind but not so much physically.

  • 100 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:14 PM

  • 103 Ian Toon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:16 PM

Big clubs don’t attach so much importance to a pre season friendly.
Stop being so negative everything will be fine- it’ll be alright on the night .
Ibiza – where are you come and settle these troubled types.

  • 104 ToonDownSouth // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:18 PM

    kets

    Who’s that?

    Belfast

I think we should probably scrap it when all we’ve got is text updates from Ed ;)

  • 105 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:18 PM

So hopefully it’ll be Remy and Anita first in and then Debuchy and a centre back on deadline day.

They all have to be foreign. I don’t want any Scott Dann’s brought in at the last minute.

Pardew’s said that we’ll stick to our A list anyway. They all want to come. It’s just about us paying the cash.

  • 106 GeordieToon89 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:18 PM

Might be Stoke again he nearly signed for them before Marseille he even went as far as visiting the training ground and sure he done a medical.. Imagine Remy playing for bloody stoke

  • 107 pardews plan B // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:19 PM

@tads nope might wanna read my comment again

  • 108 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:19 PM

    @Davy
Let’s think for a minute, of those in Europe, who needs a striker?
We do, Tottenham does as they aint getting Adebayour (i think), Chelsea maybe?
Arsenal has gotten Giroud and Podolski, Man City have tried for RVP but i doubt they’ll get him, Man Utd currently negotiation fee it seems…
    Who have i forgotten?

    Dannyo

So happy for the lad. Personally, I wouldn’t push him too hard at this age UNLESS we’re exceeding our seasons targets again.

    If we’re struggling a little or we’re under pressure to get results, I wouldn’t want to knock the lads confidence. Friendlies and cameos when we’re winning should be it (;

it would be pathetic to think negative thoughts over a non-event such as this. These games are as much about finding what does NOT work, so chill. Plus the young lad done well and that is enough plus. Look at the mackems pre-season! Laugh now!

  • 117 lukes26 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:24 PM

Newcastle have moved up to evens in Andy Carroll transfer betting. they had been at 6/4 only yesterday.

    @MacToon
Very true, i didn’t vote after the Hartlepool match, but i couldn’t bring myself to skip it today since Campbell was on the list ;)

    @TDS
Bringing youth through at the right time takes timing to get the best out of them imo, despite the result today, from what i read Campbell looked pretty good, those cameos are very, very important for confidence.

It’s quite common that odds on signings improve the closer u get to the start of the season and the end of the window.
Bigger chance of pushing transfers through. ;)

  • 123 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:29 PM

I think one of Pardew’s strengths is that he is patient with some players and takes his time getting them up to speed. He did with HBA and Santon last season. He has juggled well so far.

  • 124 MacToon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:30 PM

Possibly Belfast but you could always add unused subs and the manager, even Llambias and Ashley to the polls just to mix it up a bit

  • 125 Marty-Toon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:31 PM

I still wanna believe that Obertan will come good but proof is in the pudding.
I’d have Marveaux,Ben Arfa,Sammy and Fergie on there before him.
As regards to people talking bout Jarvis being poor, that’s a loada in my opinion.
He is a lot better than many of our boys at gettin the ball in the box.
    Obertan,Jonas cold learn off him.
He’s not worth 9million like but he’s direct as you like.
We had pace up front today in Obertan so it doesn’t help to have pace and no heed on yer shoulders

  • 126 IFC.Toon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:31 PM

I would assume that Remy is on Pardew’s A list. Wouldn’t be surprised if Charnley and Llambias are in Marseille now..

I hope to god its us in for remy but logic says its spurs. They’ve only got Defoe? Wouldn’t put it past Liverpool to replace Bellamy with remy or Chelsea to have a go too. Praying it’s us though class player

  • 129 toonking // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:36 PM

well i didn’t see the game today with olyimpics being on but have been reading though the blog and by the sounds of it we have had a rubbish game.
to be honest i am not bothered about this score myself because i just go back to preseason last year and it was terrible but somehow we did very good in the league. so this to me has more positives than negatives.
positives been no injuries and signs of a good youngster the only negative i see is our defence still enjoys conceding loads when we are defeated so it might be unwise to use one in my fantasy football.

  • 130 MagpiesFlyHigh // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:36 PM

A wake up call is not necessarily a bad thing but it does show we still need a dominating CB. We do not have enough strength in depth in central defence.

No way should Simmo or Perch play CB regardless of what Kets says (assuming his comments are ironical as they are impossible to take seriously)

Much as I’d like to see him come to the Toon £15m for Remy is more than we will pay

There is no way we will send players to Rangers on loan regardless of whatever the headlines say. It isn’t a promise just a possibility.
How many of our players are going to benefit from playing East Fife or Brechin City…even if there are thirty thousand in Ibrox ? None. It is just a ploy by MA to get JJB Sports kicked out of their replica shirt contract so he can make more money from making replica shirts for £2 and selling them for £40.

  • 131 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:37 PM

Remy makes perfect sense when you think about no one linking us with him no one talking a out it jus the type of transfer we like to do and he has the choice of no7 or no11

  • 132 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:37 PM

Sunderland could’ve had a bid accepted for Remy, but I’m sure we’ll move in. Sunderland wanted Cisse.

  • 133 davybtoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:39 PM

Remy will go for less than 15mill om are cash strappedn need to sell players so will deal for a lot less

  • 134 nufc90 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:39 PM

Haha anyone watching SSN see that Blackburn director saying if kean loses 3 in a row they’ll sack him. That clubs being terribly run makes me grateful for mike Ashley. Think of the morale of the players and coach

  • 135 Ketsbaia9 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:39 PM

Surprised Xisco hasn’t been given a chance. Should’ve at least had a run-out in these friendlies. He’s a better player than Shola and should be our third choice striker.

  • 136 BelfastMagpie87 // Aug 11, 2012 at 6:40 PM

    That statement truly infuriates me.
How on earth can a man running a club be quoted like that on such a thing.
I have nothing against Blackburn and it saddens me that owners can so overly delibaritly try to destroy an entire club and get away with it.
The owner should be taken into administration by the FA due to negligence of the club.

Worst game we’ve played all pre-season.
Thought it was good to get that wake up call out of the system now and not against Tottenham.
Been doing allot of European games but today was about getting into the “english” style of football.
    Missing a few big players.
Even in the 2nd half, should’ve scored two.

The Leyton orient game was a lot earlier in pre-season, by the time the final friendly comes round everyone should be pretty close to being ready for the league to start.

We are putting a lot of blind faith in saying this performance doesn’t matter and everyone will turn up on Saturday and suddenly be in form and the defence will have remembered how to play together.

Obv I hope we are ready, but to blindly ignore the performance and dismiss it as irrelevant is a little naive this close to the season opener.

Am sure I’ll be called a neggar or whatever, I see it as being realistic and not blinded by ignorance.

    @WWYCD
    It’s a rumour from a twitter account, saying it’s from L’Equipe.

    NUFC Stats ?@NUFC_Stats
An unnamed Premier League club is in formal talks with Marseille for the transfer of Loïc Rémy, according to L’Équipe. (via @EPLStuff)

    Belive what u will :)

  • 227 WWYCD // Aug 11, 2012 at 8:00 PM

Well after literally minutes of l’equipe webiste reading I have realised that I dont speak french which put a spanner in the works however as luck would have it google speaks french

I found 2 articles one with quotes from Remy saying he wont be moving this summer (though that was awhile ago) and one paragraph saying OM have been contacted by a English club but they havent responded (if Remy stays Ayew goes and vice versa apparently) which was posted today

I can confidently say that its air tight and Remy will sign for us within the hour

  • 228 ochytoon // Aug 11, 2012 at 8:01 PM

Why did the bloke interviewing Mo Farrah just say the whole nation wants to give him a big kiss right now? Ummm steady on mate, a pat on the backs fine.

  • 229 WWYCD // Aug 11, 2012 at 8:02 PM

After Alou Diarra, left under the skies of West Ham , and until Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea?) and Stephane Mbia (England), OM continues its degreasing operation. It is now Loic Remy, according to reports, could soon change air. OM was contacted by an English club about the striker, but has not responded. If Loic Remy remained, while Andre Ayew could go, but bids are not lining up for now. Marseille has established a priority of the transfer window: a central defender.

Thats the paragraph that I found if anyone wants to attempt to pick holes in my reasoning

    Pardew no 1,

Douglas would be great alongside Collo – having the curly haired maestro alongside him would be a calming influence. He would know his back was covered which is a huge asset to have. I would be happy to see him on board

  • 276 Kyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 9:40 PM

Man United, Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham, Reading, QPR, Liverpool and Everton have signed first team players. I’m probably missing out more clubs but that’s just off the top of my head.

Though Dannyo does make a point, Euros and OG have had a part to play in it. But we should have had Debuchy in by now. Can’t please we’re tighter than a fish’s backside.

I know there is time left but our upcoming games (Spurs, Atromitos, Chelsea) are all going to be tough. The sooner players have settled in the better. (Though that didn’t apply to Cisse who just came in and turned on beast mode).

I’m just worried because of Simpson and Williamson. They are championship level IMO.

  • 285 Dannyo // Aug 11, 2012 at 9:54 PM

    @Kyo
I understand that, but Saylor is there now, Tav has shown he can cut it at CB and LB, and he’s an RB really. Santon has improved on last season. It’ll help allot that he’s had a year of English now.
I’m not worried this early in the season, altho it’ll be tough, yes.
What worries me is depth, not quality, we have that.

you comment enough on this remy thing until it starts to hold verity….but only in your mind

don’t kid yourself….we are not signing Remy. By the looks of it we’ll be lucky to get anyone in. All I want (minimum) is an FB to replace simmo and Anita

a CB and CF are requisite but of course we won’t splash the cash. the sky is not falling, of course, but a likely scenario, a probable outplay of events? here it is:

we wait to do any major spending until january but by then the veil has already fallen….we will not go 11 or 12 games unbeaten again and, let’s face it, we had more luck than deserved those first few months and that was the backbone for the couple of really really poor patches we had throughout last season. we’ll be lucky to finish europa….nevermind CL spots, not without investment…and at least a few of our bigger boys will be lured away, and rightly so. this summer is pivotal in the history of our club, as all usually are but mores than the past six or seven….ambition thus far in this window has been revealed. we are here (in the market) for subsistence and it really blows my mind that no one else can see that. do we have the potential to hit great heights again this year? of course, but unless 3-4 dead-on first-teamers are recruited before the end of this window, no one should be under any impression that our owner really actually wants us in the CL.

three weeks for me to be proven wrong though….

I know there is a Shola fan club on here. I’m now seriously worried. If we go into the next season with him as our first reseverve striker and we’re cattled.
He never has been and will never will be good enough.
He might be good enough to scare the shite out of Hartlepool but that is not were our ambitions are.

the shola fan club on here was born out of the shola bashing that used to take place on here….in their minds they are supporting the club and it’s players, no matter how sh*t any particular player may be, thus transcending from a fan to a ‘true’ fan…again i’ll say this, in their minds.

shola is sh*t and to go into the season with him as third choice is an abysmal decision. he skated through regime change after regime change and his worth only became slightly highlighted during the CCC season but because he scores against the mackems and he’s a ‘one-club player’, he’s christened as a legend. not the case, never will be. the only reason he’s still here is because stoke didn’t want him and pards needed folks on his side when he replaced CH. i’m sure shola is notorious for showing blind support of anyone who comes in….he needs all the help he can get as his footballing ‘talent’ you’d think would let him down.

    Matty, how could you??

Bambi is a legend in his own lunchtime. He has been well passed his shelf life many, many years ago, but now has “Cult” status.

In the cold light of day he should have been shipped out years ago but, he’s a a Geordie Legend who averages something like 4 goals a season BUT manages 2 against the scum down the road most years.

To be honest, you couldn’t give him away but he would bleed Black & White if you cut him; He’s as faithful as a Labrador, fits in like an old pair of slippers and is beyond reproach. He’s now part of the furniture mate.

    Novo and Matty

Nobody is saying that Shola is a starter. Everybody knows Shola can’t/won’t complete 90 minutes of football anymore. But as he showed nearer the end of last season he can be a great sub, he can hold up the play if we need to. Ba and Cisse will be the main striker partnership for the PL and if one of them is knackered, we will most likely revert back to 4-3-3 with one striker and HBA and a left winger (Marveaux). For the cups we have younger players coming through such as Sammy and Campbell.

And I really don’t see any problem with supporting the players playing for the team. Sure , it is fair to criticise them, but Shola is constantly bashed by certain people just because “it’s Shola”.

For all the shola haters on here.
Yes he may be fat, lazy, useless,he may not know how to hit the back of the net, he’s also very old…but…..
He is a great influence in the dressing room, he’s our top scorer of all time against the mackems (higher than shearer and milburn) , and he can be used as a late sub in a game to hold up play.
I nearly forgot, he is our adopted Geordie and a loyal player, so give it a rest will you’s. Rant over

Shola Ameobi is a good Backup and not a starter

Jonas maybe “hardworking” in your eyes,he be a good Defensive midfield and no longer a WINGER

without cabaye and hba, we do struggle

664 votes … did 664 people from this blog go to the match?

I’d rather have Carroll than Remy.
