Newcastle Finally Agree Fee For Top Target

Really great news is coming through that Newcastle United have agreed a fee with Ajax for their Dutch midfielder Vurnon Anita.

Vurnon Anita – fee has been agreed with Ajax

The next step is to agree terms with Vurnon, and that’s not exactly a given, but it seems that Newcastle are close to getting one of their top targets through the door – at last.

Ajax manager Frank de Boer confirmed today that the Amsterdam club have struck a deal with Newcastle United for the transfer of  23 year-old Vurnon Anita, who can play in a number of different positions.

Once terms have been agreed with the player, Anita will travel to Newcastle for his medical, and it could well be that if Cheick Tiote is not available for the game against Tottenham next Saturday afternoon, then Vurnon will play in that position.

He has played both in defensive midfield and left back for Ajax over the last two seasons, and has been one of their best players.

Vurnon stands 5’6″ tall and he made his debut for Ajax in March of 2006,  in a 3–2 away loss against FC Groningen, and since then he has made 137 appearances for the Dutch Champions with 7 goals.

We’re not sure how much the fee is – but it’s likely it’s around £7M, and Vurnon will be a fantastic signing for Newcastle.

We wonder if Newcastle’s dismal showing yesterday at Cardiff had anything to do with this?

Very encouraging reading Ajax fans tweets on Anita. All seem to say he’s a big loss and we’re getting a bargain. Just praying he doesn’t get injured playing for Ajax now lol

He’ll play alongside the tank. Cabaye will be freed to go forward.

Anita does not have a bad attitude. One of Ajax’s best players, loved by all of their fans. I’m surprised nobody else came in for him.

Watching him now. Positional awareness is great and seems to understand the role of DM in a different way to Tiote. Tiote is combative and aggressive, sometimes makes rash decisions, Anita seems very serene and sensible a deep-lying cog directing things, very content with filling in for his CBs.

He’s the constant available man Tiote needs, when he gets tied up in confined spaces after a battle, with nobody offering to help. Will compliment each other very well.

would love us to play a formation like this at times

    Krul

    Debuchy — Saylor — Coloccini — Santon
    ——————Tiote — Anita —————-
    ———————-Cabaye———————
    Ben Arfa——————————Marveaux
    ———————–Cisse———————–

could be good when playing away to a strong team, at home would prefer us to stick to 2 upfront

Wish we could apply for a designated standing section inside our ground, watching the Ajax fans bouncing and singing is great and creates a carnival atmosphere every match.

    Anita almost scores!

There’s quotes from De Boer too:

“We are very close to an agreement. Anita wants to leave for Newcastle”

“Losing Anita isn’t good for us but I’m glad he can play today. The deal is not complete, but chances are that Anita will not be with us for the next game. “

“He wants to leave so it is the best outcome for the team.”

Can the Lille manager learn from this please!?!

    Our midfield will be beastly…

Talked to Ajax fan Friday he said Anita was of Tiote quality with a far better footballing brain. Think I’ve said this before ht if a £20m plus bid comes in we’ll accept. The fee will cover Anita £6, Debuchy £7, and a pacy forward/ winger or Tiote fee. Great business again from Fatty and Scorsese. Doesn’t every club wished the had our role model.

He is coming as a deep lying midfielder next to Tiote. The Manchester City formation.

    Tiote Anita
    Cabaye

That will be our best midfield. He is a general, very good distributor of the ball, good positioning, good defensive abilities, and will help both Tiote and Cabaye be better.

    Absolutely terrific signing.

Versatile so can play at Left Back, but don’t see him playing there all too often.

If we haven’t offered the amount Lille want, then what can they do?

It’s all very well respecting the wishes of a player, but you can’t let a French international go for £4m!

eaststand – We have Simpson (if he stays) Raylor, Tavernier, Saylor and Perch and Santon to cover at right back as well with all of them far more suited to right back than left back, but we lack quality at either left back and right back, hence my earlier statement of wanting one of each brought in 😀

Me nd the wife just had lunch in horsley, northumberland. The gent sitting on the next table but one looked familar and it turned out to be a certain mr pardew. Feeling rather nervous i asked him how he was? The reply was he was ontop of the world as he had just had the the best news he’s had all summer. I asked what but he said he’d be shot if he let slip.
Might be reading too much but i wonder if we have someone else sorted also, or if he didnt realise ajax have released this statement!

4-3-3 is our best way of playing, that’s why a Remy would be ideal Remy/Cisse/Ben Arfa. Thought he last 2games of season when we reverted back to 4-4-2 exposed us
