This Is Why Newcastle Need To Sign Debuchy – Soon

9:03 am, Monday, August 13th, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 55 Comments

Over the weekend Mathieu Debuchy spoke out for the time in a week or so, and said he was still intent on leaving Lille, and we think that Newcastle are still keen on getting him through the door, but the Tyneside club will need to move quickly.

Mathieu Debuchy – Simpson fee will help pay for him

Newcastle have failed to meet Lille’s asking price, but there’s another problem they need to solve that’s related to signing a right back, and that’s to sell Danny Simpson or to get him to sign a new deal.

If nothing happens by the time the transfer window closes three weeks today, then Danny will enter the last year of his contract, and he will become a free agent next summer, and Newcastle will get  nothing for him.

And even if they sell him in January, the price will be reduced because he’ll have only six months left on his contract, and we will not let him go unless we bring in another right back in January as cover.

So why don’t Newcastle bite the bullet and increase their bid for Debuchy, and that will be covered by the extra money they can get for Danny when they sell him this summer?

It’s money Newcastle will lose if they don’t bring in a right back so that Danny can be sold, and of course it doesn’t have to be Debuchy, but we think if Ajax’s Gregory van der Weil had become top choice we’d have heard something about that as part of the Vurnon  Anita deal.

Newcastle are haggling over around £1M, but they’ll lose that if Danny Simpson is not sold this summer, and his value subsequently decreases.

We know this is the way Newcastle think, because it’s pure business, so we do expect Debuchy to brought in before the end of the transfer window.

And as we said it doesn’t have to be Debuchy, but if Mathieu is brought in this month, we could see two new full backs at Newcastle next season  in Mathieu  and Vurnon Anita.

And we saw one headline yesterday about Mathieu throwing his toys out of the pram, but he’s acted very professionally towards the only club he’s ever played for since 2004.

He’s a top class professional which is another reason we should sign him.

What do you think?

    Thanks.

    A new addition Ed? :)

At the end of the day a deal is there to be done I would of thought. Only time will tell how much we really want him.

  • 3 davybtoon // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:11 AM

We have 21 squad members of our 25 allowed Anita will make it 22 so we hav space for 3 more signings unless Simpson goes then its 4

  • 4 redondo77 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:12 AM

I trust Carr, the board trust Carr. It is Carr’s job to bring info about players we are looking for and how high should we bid for those players. It’s Carr’s job to help with decision making, if the player worth 8mil or not.

  • 5 WWYCD // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:12 AM

I dont think we ‘need’ Debuchy there are plenty of other full backs out there who can and will do a job in the PL

Hes also not the only full back we have been linked with, I think the lack of signings has been because NUFC have been too focused on names rather than players (though I respect what jimmymagpie says and if he has heard rumblings that DL has been unavaliable to the club that could also explain it)

  • 6 Tsunki // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:13 AM

For GT89 I was kidding when I asked Anitas age btw :) .

Let’s see him holding the shirt. No mystery medical failures please.

Oh and if Jessie J had represented our world cup bid we would have won it. Even if she had worn that entire-body support stocking. Ahem. Also Transfer Sage is a name that engenders tremendous respect. I sift through every article to see where the next UN resolution will take us, what the Chinese are planning with urban resettlement and so on.

  • 7 tequilamag // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:14 AM

Davyb I make it 24 with Anita. Fergie and Tav will not be classed as underage players this year

  • 8 WWYCD // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:14 AM

    davy
We could sell Tiote, Cabaye and Ba then thats 3 more

  • 9 Beattie25 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:14 AM

    Debuchy is a consummate profesional.

Continuing to play despite wanting away, refusing to put a transfer request into his boyhood club, still giving his all for the cause. Wed be lucky to have him.

Regarding Anita. What does everyone reckon the estimated time of signing will be? Today? Tomorrow? When do you gays think?

    are we having garage sale?

    Indian – really mate, don’t. Just… Don’t.

  • 12 Tommyy // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:16 AM

I’m going to say tomorrow morning for Anita.

  • 13 Toon73 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:17 AM

    Yep I agree !

While I would have preferred Debuchy through the door, I think business wise we will stump up a small fee for Pieters instead. He can then cover CB and LB without too much issue.

Then we’ll nail down Toivenon on the last day :)

Haha maybe a buy 1 get 1 free offer ;)

  • 15 Tsunki // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:18 AM

Beattie – do you think he is able to do that because he still has hope of a move? It will be a tough season to carry right through if he feels the club have held him back.

  • 16 numba9 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:19 AM

we need to get this lad in asap, he is quality and that is much needed in that position, personally i would rather him than anita and another cb. id go a million over what we last offered i think he will be ours then, he obviously is very keen on the move why are we hanging around? 4 man ure or chelski spurs 2 wade in and grab him????

    Buy simmo get ranger free

  • 18 Dannyo // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:19 AM

    @Redondo
We always have a garagesale, we just end up selling the cheap things, and not the expensive like people want.

  • 19 DevonToon // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:20 AM

I was under the impression we had made a double bid but VDW said no because he wanted CL football….

  • 20 Tsunki // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:20 AM

That was a fire sale. If you really wanna scroo the team we should sell Tim. That would be 3 extra spaces right there.

  • 21 eaststandgeordie1982 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:21 AM

Sorry here is my ;-) to go on the end of my last post so people know it was a bit of banter, dont want to get shot down.

  • 22 davybtoon // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:22 AM

Fergie n Tav are under age both only 20 year you have to b over 21 n if your bday is b4 a certain date u still don’t need to b in the squad jus like gosling last year, think we e still got at least 2 seasons b4 tav, fergie, abeid n vukic n sammi need squad places

I like Simmo enough to not want to force him to be in a team with Ranger again ;) should of been sign Kadar get Ranger free :D

  • 24 Kyo // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:25 AM

Debuchy how I love you so. If he signs then I’m going to buy his shirt!!

  • 25 tequilamag // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:25 AM

Pretty sure the cut off date is if your 21st is before !st Jan and Tav and Fergie are both before that. Ranger Dunnet In man amd Newton are in same boat, I dont count them because i think first 3 will be loaned out and Ranger either sold or loaned. And of course Xisco but he has no chance of making 25

  • 26 Belly // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:28 AM

I can’t totally understand why we haven’t just given lille what they want. Let’s face it, at 27 Debuchy is in his prime and he’s got one last big contract in him. There’s not really much chance of us selling him unless he’s proved to be an awesome player and Chealski snap him up at twice the price we pay. There’s very little chance of us gaining any profit out of him in the future. I would love to see him come in though. He will surely make Cabaye want to commit his future. His arrival can’t only bring good things for nufc. I still have hope that we can get the deal done but I think the chances are slowly fading. I don’t think he’s the kind of person that will force a move like Ben Arfa.

  • 27 redondo77 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:29 AM

for CB, my wish is Angelo Ogbonna, italian international, age 24, currently with Torino. Big, strong, and quick.

Santon + girlfriend + another Italian = stay with NUFC until retires :P

We could send ranger to rangers maybe thats why mike is buying shares his shipping xisco and ranger out :-)

  • 29 Toon73 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:30 AM

In response to our first major signing of the window, I have ordered my CISSE home shirt. I’m in Oz but will hopefully have it by the Spurs game.

If Debuchy signs, I can sense a change kit coming up :)

I think that’s Ed’s way of telling some of us off lol. Some right whingers on here yesterday like. :)

  • 31 NUFCWill1986 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:32 AM

Do you think we tried santon at rb incase pieters is our backup signing?

  • 32 jesperfuglsang // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:32 AM

I acrually think it is more about how much Debuchy wants this transfer rather how much Newcastle wants it.

We have agreed a fee once and Lille backed out so I don’t see us changing much; Debuchy needs to put in a transfer request.

It is within his right just as it was in Seydoux’ rights to reject out offer :-)

I promise you, you don’t want to take Ed on.

Whingers? On here? You simply must be mistaken.

Talking about Ranger, where the hell is he?

  • 35 redondo77 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:35 AM

    @Dannyo

Lucky we have garage sale on Best, he just got injured for 6 months, Barton now in wilderness, Enrique didn’t make spannish squad, Nolan is in love with fat sam, Routledge is Routledge.

Send them on loan and make them buy both for 6m how could it go wrong

  • 37 davybtoon // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:36 AM

Tequila jus seen fergie is 21 so he will b in the squad but Tav only 20 do he won’t b in the squad

  • 38 kev1664 // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:38 AM

@beattie I disagree. If Debuchy really wanted to come to nufc he’d put in a transfer request. I doing so he would surrender any part of a fee that the player and agent was to receive as part of the transfer, normally around 10% so around £650,000 more transfer fee for Lille. He won’t do that for one reason, that is he is being poorly advised because the agent wants a cut of it. It all links back to that article today from pardew saying that agents and other clubs are driving up the price of the transfers. His agent is advising him not to put a transfer request in meaning the overall transfer fee is higher than expected, if he really wants to move the transfer request is the key, not before, not after! This is also probably the same reason as it seemed that Lille moved the goalposts on their asking price. Lille want £6.5m we offer £6.5m however I reality they are getting £5.85. If we start becoming a soft touch in the market again we are setting ourselves up for a fall!

Haha honestly though what are Newcastle going to do with the disco and Ranger? Xisco in the last year of his contract so season long loan out to somewhere but Ranger still has 3 and a half years doesnt he?

Barton style transfer? Off him on a free to anyone who will pay his daft wages?

Davy Tav is 21 in Oct , If your 21 st is before Jan 1st 2013 you are not eligible to be underage palyer. Thats my understanding of the rules but feel free to check them .

Tequila just checked if your 21 the same year the season starts you don’t need to b in squad so any player who turned 21 in 2012 after jan 1st 2012 does not need to b in squad do fergie n Tav are out but they may hav to b put in after the jan window not sure on that bit

  • 49 martoon // Aug 13, 2012 at 9:44 AM

This maybe too simplistic but surely if Debuchy is so keen to come here then if he puts in a transfer request he gives up his ‘cut’ of the transfer fee. This will surely be about equal to the difference between the amount Lille want and our offer – everybody happy! The fact that he doesn’t do this seems to indicate he is more interested in the money rather than moving here.

we should just get him so what if we pay a few quid extra im sure ashley would find a way of recouping it back in his own way . i mean we have got some massive bargains the last couple of years and we need players now 2 consolidate and push on so no question we should pay for debuchy

  • 52 Toon73 // Aug 13, 2012 at 10:02 AM

my sister and her boyfriend met demba ba and cabaye yesterday as they were on the same train as them. Her boyfriend asked if debuchy was coming and cabaye’s response was ‘no’ and he seemed quite upset about the situation which i reckon means theres no chance of us getting debuchy in this window. hopefully one last attempt is being planned by newcastle as he would be a spectacular signing

Sound and sensible comment there Ed and not rocket science.
But there again our gruesome twosome (Charmless and Mikey) aren’t Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin though.

i dont think we need debuchy we have danny boy he is better than debuchy. we need 2 players.1 a center back like Lugano and 2 we need a forward like de jong we lost he but we must sing a young forward like de jong so he seat on bench and play for us on 80.I think we must sell J.Perch and M.Williamson i hate them they are not good for us they are cheap
