Local lad Steven Taylor has come out this morning and he’s yet another player who has now apologized for the terrible display against Cardiff City last Saturday, and said the lads let down the faithful Newcastle fans who traveled all the way to Cardiff, and had that stuff to watch from the Magpies.
Steven Taylor – by his look we guess he doesn’t like the new strip 😀
But as usual our players have to learn as they go, and there are many valuable lessons to be learned in a game in which we were 3-0 down after only 26 minutes, and against a second division side to boot. 🙁
This is what Steven told the local press today:
“We’re very disappointed. We’re gutted with the result. We feel we let the fans down a little bit, but we’ve learnt a valuable lesson.” “It was a lesson we needed to learn.” “The main thing is to move on to Tottenham.”
“That’s the thing we’re really looking to now.” “We’ve got to get our heads back together and concentrate on that. That’s what we need.” “All over the pitch, we weren’t together, and that wasn’t a Newcastle performance.”
“We’re not going to take the fact that we didn’t have some key players as an excuse.” “We had a job to do, and we didn’t do it.” “But we’ll deal with it and learn from it, and put it right.”
“It doesn’t help that players are going away on international duty, and we won’t see them until Thursday or Friday.” “But the main thing is now to concentrate on what we have to do.” “We’ve got some big games coming up, and we’ve got to regroup.”
“We want a winning mentality at this football club.” “The lads are hurting – they’re gutted.”
Of course all will be forgiven and forgotten very quickly, if Newcastle can come back strongly and win our first game of the season against Spurs on Saturday at St. James’ Park in the late kick-off game.
It will be important to try to repeat what we did last season, when the lads were unbeaten for the first 11 games of the season, and we expect a much better display from Newcastle at St. James Park on Saturday – that’s the very least we expect.
A win would be fantastic!

Can’t wait for the banter to get started! A frustrating summer so far has had loads of idiots sniping each others opinions on here so I mainly just stay away until we get to the business end of the window now.
How great it will be to be able to watch our lads battling in Europe again as well?!
I’m still gutted about the way we lost to AZ 6 years ago!
Oba Martins could have sealed that tie a few times and completely wasted our opportunities. We scored 4 goals in the 1st leg and still couldn’t get through!
AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrgghhhh. Told u it still hurts. 😀
I have a feeling we might meet them again this time round-fate has a funny way of throwing stuff like that at us!
Thankfully Cissa and Ba are definitely NOT Oba. 🙂

Those sure are more interesting comments. Would of been good to be there. It is interesting to hear that 90% one considering we are supposed to have lodged bids for various players that would indicate they were targets. Media rubbish perhaps? Time will tell now

Jesper…Aguero, Van Persie (if he’s still about). Sure they will be up there, but for me so will Cisse.
You’re right though, the fact we’re not mentioned takes the pressure off (not that we should care whatever they say).
Underdogs works just fine for me.

And Obertan he would dominate, Perch would be a ever present and best bit? Our reserves would come on leaps and bounds!

Comment #53SSDD with Newcastle News, i appreciate Ed posting stuff for us to debate, but tbh im bored of seeing peoples comments on the same crap, or posting their starting lineups with 3 – 4 players we aint signed or even likely to sign.
Im now of the shuddering opinion i wont believe it till i see them in a toon shirt inside SJP. So im off for a few weeks hopefully by then Anita will be in and the Debuchy crap will have been put to bed.

Comment #54If Anita signs (which he should) then I can see Cisse and Ba scoring a lot as we’ll be controlling the midfield a lot more than we did last season.
I’m fine with media underrating us as usual because proving them wrong is what makes NUFC exciting.
Hopefully Ba and Cisse can prove to be successful together in central positions though. Don’t think we ever played them together like that?

Re season tickets. I haven’t got mine either but the post hasn’t came yet so I’m hoping I comes today. If not you need to ring Newcastle tommorow and they print you a copy and you pick it up before the spurs game. The official website tells you what to do.
Hope this helps.

Comment #69I’ve seen Anita maybe 3 or 4 times, honestly speaking he seemed ok player but nothing spectacular,i must admit that he runs a lot and a 50-50 ball specialist, but not as creative as many of you think he is…but still,i would like to have him in our team only cos of the depth nothing else.

Comment #74Just had a look on that sky sports premier predictions, don’t know what it is.
However about 3 people have said we are going to get relegated and nobody lists us for top 5
These people need to get there heads out of their southern arses and realise that we actually exist.
However it will be much funnier to see the look in their faces when we get champions leage and beat arsenal spurs and Liverpool to top 4.
It does really annoy me when these people do this though. After last season how can anyone think we will get relegated??? It’s just daft.

Comment #78Yep, Redknapp certainly praises the Toon when justified, however suppose its to be expected that he loves his favorite cousin, does go overboard at times though, wonder what he says about Spurs at the weekend, they hardly treated his dad great.
I would imagine Saggy Face Jnr would love the Toon to put one over on Danial Levy and his buddies.

Comment #80Am I the only one thinking Anita will be playing left back and Santon right back for the start of the season, unless Cabaye/Tiote are injured.
I dont see this 4-2-3-1 formation coming in at all Pardew has already made it clear Ba is going to play a major factor in this year starting line up. Therefore unless Cisse is left out which is also unlikely most of you are just hoping for something that wont happen.
4-4-2 pretty much guarantee it!
—————————- Krul ————————–
Santon OR — STaylor – Colo ——- Anita OR
Simpson Santon
————————————————————–
Obertan ——– Tiote — Jonas —— Marveaux
————————————————————–
——————– Ba —— Cisse ———————-
If you say otherwise I think you would be lying to yourself! 4-2-3-1 will only happen if one of the big lads upfront are injured, and even then Ameobi could play.
4-2-3-1 also doesnt work without Ben Arfa or Cabaye!
Cabaye and Ben Arfa wont make opening game I dont think otherwise it would be different.
