It’s the news we’ve been waiting for since yesterday, and Anita Vurnon of Ajax has passed his medical and has signed on at Newcastle on a five year long contract, and although the fee was not announced,it is widely reported to be €8.5M – £6.6M.

It was a long time coming but this is Newcastle first signing of a potential first team starter this summer, and Vurnon seems another great buy, and cheap at the price when you consider the prices of some other midfielders going in the transfer market – like Everton’s Jack Rodwell to Manchester City for £15M.
It’s simply great to have Vurnon Anita on board.
We wish Vurnon every success in his new career at Newcastle, and we are simply delighted to welcome him to Newcastle United, and the fact he is joining the Newcastle revolution under manager Alan Pardew.
This is what Vurnon had to say today:
“I won almost everything in Holland so the step was not difficult to make. Now I think we can also win trophies with Newcastle and it’s time to do that.” “In the Premier League especially, every game is tough so it can help me also to grow in my football skills.”
“Ajax made me who I am right now. I’ve been there 13 years so it was a difficult step, but you know in football that things happen so I’m glad to be here.” “I know Tim Krul very well.” “He told me to join Newcastle (wow that’s a surprise), and said it was a very nice club with great supporters and everything is nice and that he would like me to come here.
“I trust him so I think we can have a nice time here.” “I talked to the manager and the coach and they know that I want to play in a defensive midfield place and that’s why they brought me here.” “But I can play at left-back or right-back, so that’s also no problem.”
We’ll be bringing out out a short bio on Anita shortly, to better introduce him to Newcastle fans.

Finally, this is a good signing, now please sign a defender! Whether it be a fullback or a centre back it is a no brainer for any fan to see that our defence is the weakest area of the team.
As for Gudietti, recent rumors are he is is off to Everton! Who in my opinion are spending the Rodwell money for Shitty very wisely!
Moyes doing a good job given the circumstances around the club!
I can still see Anita playing full back! Maybe not while Tiote is a doubt or Cabaye is injured but we’ll see!

Love this signing. Watched him very closely, am a fan of Ajax and actually studied their academy set up which I rate as the best in the world or certainly one of.
Vernon Anita is a DM but in a different mold to Tiote. He is your playmaking DM who can read the play and his positional play is exceptional. Ajax Academy play a certain way in ball retention and he is vital to that for them. I assume, he will have the same role for us.
I expect to play a 4-2-1-3 system. Having Anita and Tiote playing as a defensive two. Tiote the enforcer type who breaks up attacks and does the bulldozing role, while Anita plays the composed ball playing role. They should complement each other extremely well.
The really exciting thing is what this does for Cabaye. WOW. You thought he was good last season having to play that energy sapping role. He will now play the attacking playmaker. He will love the formation and expect him to score more goals and set up more goals through his wizardry we all know he possesses.
Now for depth in CB, a new RB and depth in the Striker position.

Whilst everyone is posting teams which I enjoy looking at, it seems to me that people are forgetting that Pardew said demba will NOT be playing on the wing and he will be down the middle and Pardew has confirmed this, whilst I’m sure he will make a few appearances out wide Pardew said that’s not where he will be.
