Newcastle target Mathieu Debuchy lasted only 28 minutes in France’s 0-0 draw with Uruguay at the Stade Océane in Le Havre last night, before he had to come off the field after injuring his ankle, but we don’t know how bad the injury is.
Mathieu Debuchy – sustained an ankle injury last night in Le Havre
If Newcastle get Vurnon Anita in, the Evening Chronicle is suggesting that Newcastle will not bother going after the 27 year-old French International with a new bid, and that’s because the right footed Anita can play in either full-back position as well as in defensive midfield.
It was after 28 minutes that Debuchy received treatment on the field for his ankle injury, but the 10 times capped french International could not continue, and he was replaced by Christophe Jallet of PSG.
So if Newcastle are still interested in getting Debuchy, and we simply don’t know if they are still interested, this could possibly affect any potential deal, if the injury is serious.
From all accounts France should have won the game last night, and they hit the post twice, but they just couldn’t get the win in Didier Deschamps first game in charge as the new French manager.
