One Or Two Matters Being Cleared Up In Anita Medical

11:09 am, Thursday, August 16th, 2012 by Dr. Ed Harrison · 69 Comments

Frank de Boer, the Ajax manager has given an interview in the Evening Chronicle today and he has said that Newcastle’s potential new signing Vurnon Anita is one of the hardest working players he has ever seen, and he deserves to move to a club like Newcastle,  who are a great club and have a good team, and are one of the biggest clubs in England, and he says that Vurnon can be very proud of the move.   We certainly agree with that – couldn’t have said it better. :D

But the real news is that Newcastle are dealing with one or two matters that have come out of his medical.

Frank de Boer – Ajax manager full of praise for Newcastle

This is what Frank had to say today in the Evening Chronicle interview:

“Of course he goes to Newcastle United with my best wishes.” “He is one of the hardest working young players I have ever seen.” “He deserves a move to a club like Newcastle United.”

“For me he gave everything during his time here.” “As I say, he gives everything for you.” “He never complained once to me about having to drop back into another position.”

“In training he works like he is playing a game and that it means everything.” “In the one and half years I worked with him he did not stop working.” “That is what has resulted in his transfer to Newcastle.”

“Newcastle fans will see a player who can deal with the game in England.” “He gives 300% for you. He is always concentrating on his game and he never ever gives up.” “He has a bright future ahead.”

“It is a great move by Newcastle United, and they are a great club and have a good team.”  “They are one of the biggest clubs in England and Vurnon can be very proud of the move.”

We are waiting for the formal announcement that Vurnon is a Newcastle player, but the Evening Chronicle is reporting that Newcastle are currently analyzing the results of his medical, which apparently did take place yesterday.

And they report that “one or two matters need to be tied up.”

We have to hope those one or two matters are not serious, but that at least explains the delay in the announcement.

Comments welcome.

Eh, I have no idea what could pop up in his medical that we’d question…

To use an Ed-ism…they really are some good words from Frank de Boer :o)

Very professional by De Boer. Hope Anita is a cracking signing.

  • 5 pawl250 // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:18 AM

Sorry another repost from previous article – Ed is too fast for me today! lol

Also if we are playing a lone striker why would we want to buy Carroll or any other striker?

Whoever came would come in as a back up to a back up!? Then Ameobi would be his back up! Seriously?! Think about it!

Especially for any transfer fee over £6m, which several people stated to yesterday why would we buy a £6m player for sitting on the bench in regards to Anita!

Same principle applies here! Why pay even £5m for a back up to a back up striker? Surely that 5m can go on Douglas, or another defender?

Arguably a contender for first team place, and a valuable back up (if he was a back up) considering STaylor injury history!

You guys have no logic you just want to spend money for the sake of it!

is this just jinxed or what!!

  • 7 BOOM BOOM THE 1ST // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:19 AM

Yeah it appears the medical took place on the planet jupitor where he was repeatedly Probed by cwarr07 and Craigcoozy “we are just awaiting the results” said the jubilant lads in a joint statement. thanks for clearing it up lads.

  • 8 Beattie25 // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:19 AM

    Oh god!

Hes not going to sign! Medical failed! Raping and pillaging on the streets of Newcastle! A disease breaks loose and humans turn into flesh eating monsters! The government nuke Newcastle to contain tue outbreak and nuke Sunderland cos it’s a shit hole! The disease has spread though! Civil war breaks out! America come to our aid but it’s to late and we go to war with humanity for we are the mutant Geordie race destroyed by pessimism and now we rule the world!

What’s the problem? Did they find no issues with his medical and go “wait a sec, signing a player with no injury issue? No release clause? This feels wrong, oh so wrong”. ;)

    Come on, “Welease Wanita!”

  • 11 BOOM BOOM THE 1ST // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:21 AM

@ KYO hope my last post cleared up your first question.

  • 12 roadfighter // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:21 AM

Frank de Boer – what a great guy.. :) I guess he’s happy to see Vurnon go to a team who are on the up and hard working like NUFC …

  • 13 Beattie25 // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:21 AM

1 or 2 details hardly suggests anything to do with the medical results.

It could just be his bank account needs sorting or accomodation!

  • 14 ichrisho // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:22 AM

@Pawl – Dont be surprised to see Guidetti in for us on a nic little fee of £5m… Carroll would be destructive to the team spirit… Ameobi is now for Carling Cup matches and kicking some tired defenders when we are winning… or do you mean Sammy?

  • 15 jesperfuglsang // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:23 AM

Good news from De Boer; don’t really know much about Anita so I am looking forward to seeing more of him this season ;)

    Keep ‘em coming Pardew ;)

Next up Debuchy and a young versatile forward :)

There is nothing work with dreaming is there ;)

Henandez is good in my eyes. I dont understand Fergies treatment of him. Is stunting his development. Seems to think he needs to protect him by not playing him.

I think all this paper talk about Hernandez is bull though. United currently have 4 established strikers Rooney, Berbatov, Welbeck, Hernandez and now RVP.

Berbatov could well be on his way out and Fergie seems bored of him. For a team that is consistently chasing multiple trophies I’m sure there is room for him.

Guessing Manures spending (£50m + this window is being funded by recent floatation. Cant understand why anyone would buy a stake in that club. It is unlikely to appreciate in value much more, especially with the growth of City, the Bundesliga growth and growing popularity of foreign leagues in Asia and MLS. So that would leave the only reason to buy into it for ego/trophy ala Abramovic with Chelski and Shiekh Mansour @ Citeh. But this argument is null and void because you can only buy a stake into it and not the whole club???????

Bottom line is, anybody investing money is likely to come out of it with little gain.

On the other hand, to spend £50m + with their debt is shameful. Wish UEFA would do more across every league in Europe by placing regulations preventing clubs running with gearing ratios like that (how much a club is running on debt). It is not uncommon for companies to do this in a lot of markets but the difference is it can come back to bite other companies. Manure seem protected by their status. Clubs should be made to run at near financial stability over a given period of time and transfers should be blocked by respective governing bodies if this is not the case.

It would benefit the long term. With European leagues being the heart and soul of football worldwide, prices would become more stable or fair. And in the very long term, club competition would be tighter meaning that there would be less people glory hunting meaning there would be a greater spread of support in general across the league, allowing smaller clubs size or status to better compete. The league would be more exciting because of this.

In the Short term it may upset the people at Sky who want to protect their stake and maximise revenue through giving all the coverage to Manure, Citeh, Chelski and Liverpool.

Doing such would cultivate more football fans with an allegiance rather than merely Manure fans who are only interested in their team games.

European leagues would be much better if the competition was more like North American sports. Where it is less obvious who win take home the superbowl or stanley cup.

People that argue against ore regulation will bring up the old right wing argument that intervention in a market leads to inefficiency blah blah, everything should be left to market forces. Yes true to an extent in normal markets but not Football.

If other markets receive large injections of cash, a ROI is expected, this in circular effect impacts the market organically. But when you have a Sheikh injection millions with no return on investment is warps the whole market. Liverpool pay a stupid inflated fee, the next club then tends to overspend with their new income. and so on.

With regulation there would be tighter pursestrings for all. It would actually more than likely mean that true market forces would play more into business than todays de-regulated market.

    Hope this essay makes sense.

Think this may actually be official later today. Hope we play him alongside Tiote and not at left back, yes he can do a job there, but he’s too good a passer not to playing in the middle. Plus Cabaye just infront of them two has great potential.

A right or left back is still needed.

These test wont miss anything. And apparently everything is harmful to your health now.

It’s probably picked up some scar tissue from when 9 year of Vurn fell off his bike. Or they’ve found that his nipples are an unusual diameter relative to his build and they are making sure this is not an indication of a knee problem.

Then again I shouldnt joke. Players that come through youth systems are more likely to have underlying issues that clubs arent aware of than those than transfer at a young age. He hasnt moved clubs before so there is a slight chance that nobody has examined his health and body condition to this extent before.

Very happy with this signing, but if you’ve seen Anita play he is clearly a very defensive DM, almost the exact player as Tiote, maybe a bit more on the defensive side.

I must question what this signing does for Tiote ? Is there more to him and we’ll see him given more freedom going forward, ha can pass, but not the best shooter, or is he potentially being sold ?

  • 41 bollance // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:37 AM

Nufc trying ensure the squad plays as many games as possible by having (raylor and hopefully now Anita) and converting (Jonas) players to cover many positions. Not a new idea but if this is the case then we need to offload injury prone players because that impacts on number of games played

Best has already gone but we have players like saylor, Shola, gosling, vuckic marveaux and fergie.

Would anyone b happy any of that lot left? I would b sad but would understand why.

  • 42 jesperfuglsang // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:38 AM

Mushy peas are dried marrowfat peas which are first soaked overnight in water and then simmered with a little sugar and salt until they form a thick green lumpy soup. In the Northern England and the Midlands they are a traditional accompaniment to fish and chips, although their appeal has spread and sometimes mint is used as a flavouring.

So there really is an appeal for this? :)

hey are commonly served as part of the popular snack of pie and peas and are considered a part of traditional British cuisine.

How did I miss this when II lived in London :)

    On a side note:

A variant (particularly popular around Bolton, Bury and Preston, Lancashire, is parched peas – carlin peas (also known as maple peas, or black peas) are soaked and then boiled slowly and for a long time; the peas are traditionally served with vinegar.

There you have it mushy peas boys and girls! ;)

  • 43 ToonDownSouth // Aug 16, 2012 at 11:38 AM

Indeed, especially when the Ajax fans have all been pretty disrespectful. (Newcastle are a sh!t little club, why’s he not going somewhere better, etc :| ) De Boer has just gained thousands of new fans – seems a class act. How often do you hear a manager talk like that, after losing a player they really wanted to keep? I’ll certainly be keeping an eye on his career now.

In response to earlier, I have no idea what you were responding to, but we have made offers for Carroll.. That’s been confirmed by 3 different clubs :/

I disagree, he has far more attacking instincts than Tiote. He pushes the team the whole team up more than Tiote does. Anita a more balanced player.

    pawl250

RVP is a tool. Not for moving, but for the statement he released earlier in the summer. Really showed how big his ego has become.

He’s not even the best striker in the Dutch squad. Cant wait for the reaction he’ll get from Gooners when they meet.

Great endorsement by De Boer, The Toon Army love a tryer and quite clearly thats what this lad is, cant wait to see him and Cheick play together, with Cabs in front, would love us to start dominating the middle of the park, all too often last year we had bad possession at home, never mind away, more control of the game is needed, rather than backs to the wall defending to see us through games.

However i will be looking to see how many times Timmy rolls the ball out at the weekend, if i see hoofball over the top of our quality midfielders heads, i will be a little perplexed.

@LGFUAD21 I don’t know, when I’ve seen him play he was always in the DM position, always simple passing and pulling back once he went 10-20 meters into the opposition field. His range of passing seemed much simpler then Tiote’s and also his willingness to pull the trigger from distance was zero.

Probably need to seem play much more though…
