Newcastle Have £3M Net Spend So Far This Summer

It’s worked out really well that Curtis Good cost £400K (£0.4M) from Melbourne Heart and Vurnon Anita cost €8.5M from Ajax,  because that converts to £6.6M, and therefore Newcastle got them both in for a nice even £7M, and with just 11 days to go in the transfer window the good news, the very good news, is that we haven’t lost any of our star players.

Vurnon Anita – top player so far through the door

Demba Ba is still at he club after the release clause in his contract ran out on August 1st, and he got off to a great start on Saturday afternoon with a wonderful goal to break the duck he’s had since early February, and that will give him added confidence – if he ever needed it.

There are reports that Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United – three top clubs in Europe – are after some of our players, and notably Cheick Tiote and Yohan Cabaye, with the first two clubs after Cheick and Manchester United said to be interested in French International Yohan Cabaye.

Alan Pardew hopes he can keep all of his top players at the club this summer, but with the repeated comments being made by Alan that he’s worried he may lose some players, you have to think Newcastle know about some bids are coming in for some of their players.

Here’s a list of the transfers in and out and it adds up to Newcastle having paid out around £3M in net transfer fees so far this summer, but we are still hoping for one and maybe two new players coming through the door before Saturday, 1st September, when we could well be at the top of the Premier League. 😀

And this is not meant to be criticism of what Newcastle have done so far in the transfer market, because the club have brought in four excellent players for just £8M – so far.

But we are hoping for more.

    I’d go with…

    ——————————–Harper—————————-

    —–Tavernier——–Perch———Willo———–Raylor—-

    ————————-Anita———Bigirimana—————

    —–Obertan—————-Gosling——————Marveaux

    —————————–Shola Ameobi———————-

Thing is….Amalfitano could play instead of Obertan Abeid could play instead of Bigi and Vuckic could play instead of Gosling….so in that sense we have some decent depth!

Campbell to come on during the match for Shola at some point.

There doesn’t seem much point in quoting figures like this when

    1) We’re never sure of the fees.

    2) We have no idea of agent fees, signing on bonuses, etc.

Ed, Just noticed Messi transfer has been delayed. If he plays in the CL is he ok to play in the EL for us after January? Not sure I’d want him if he couldn’t play in all comps for us. Might be time to look elsewhere, is Heskey still available?

People have been saying how we need to sign new players etc etc. but now people are trying to suggest teams for atromitos and chelsea they are realising that good players are struggling to make the bench such as vukic, abied, amalfitano, shola. I think we have a good squad and a young one at that which can only get stronger as the year moves on. HWTL!!!!

If we get a strong result on Thursday I can see young Campbell starting in the home leg. Think we might even have a new face before Chelsea game. (that’s just a hunch and not based on any ITK)

Phillyg….We have a decent squad, but we also have to remember this game is against Atromitos, not a team like Atletico etc who if we get through this stage we may be facing.

Still, a young exciting squad is excellent and they wont improve without experience. One or two players for an extra bit of quality depth and we will be well and truly sorted.

This has been a good day.
Anyways on topic. Seems like we are doing some good business, next transfer deal, sell Simpson for at least 3 million, and then we get barnetta on a free and buy erik pieters or debuchy.?

    Harper
    Perch Willo Tav Raylor
    Jonas Gosling Amalfitano
    Obertan Cisse Marveuex
Playing Cisse so the tie will be over after the first leg, we can make even more changes for the home tie. Only Cisse would play on Saturday and playing against a poor side, would get Cisse’s confidence up

Wow £85 million for Messi?? That really is a bargain, considering PSG want Rooney for £100m.. perhaps we should hang onto him for a season then sell him on for £150m?

The way I see it is that if we were to progress through the playoff, and progress through the group stage, then priority would have to shift slightly from the league to the EL.

    Ibiza…
Yeh your right regarding the opposition but the main reason why this one seems to stretched is the Nottinghill carnival has stopped the chelsea game from being played on sunday. I feel we can manage like the other top teams in our league. Chelsea play wednesady in prem league which is some good news for us as they don’t have a full week planning how to stop the demba’s and ben arfa lol. If we proceed in europe I feel with the better timing etc pardew will use his usual starting 11 witha few squad players thrown in for rotation.

    fro previous thread..
I would like to see Good, Bigi, Amalf, Abeid, Gosling, Marv and Campbell feature on Thursday night, withe Good, Bigi Abeid and one other starting and Campbell and others after 60 mins or so.

I’m very excited about Campbell. I think he may well prove to be another prodigy.
Good and Bigi need bringing on as quickly as possible imo

TDS….Also very true, however, that could then start to impact on our PL fixtures. You know I’m one of the last people to say we need new signings and i’m a big supporter of using our young lads, I do however get a feeling one or two will be signed up before the window slams shut and put’s us all out of our misery 🙂

I think our youngsters will more than do a job for us, with incoming players too, we should be able to field almost two full strong teams…
If Campbell is getting 30 mins every other week as impactsub by December I shan’t be much surprised.
Also think Bigi and Good are going to play regularly.

Phillyg…..I’d go along with that. I seem to remember everyone using Stoke as an example of how EL fatigues players badly. I then heard the other day that they mainly fielded a complete second string of players. Doesn’t add up.

Assuming the Ameobi brothers are still out for Atromitos:

    Harper
    R.Taylor – Williamson – Perch – Tavernier
    Gosling – Abeid
    Amalfitano – Obertan – Marveaux
    Cisse

Subs: Elliot, Good, Dummett, Bigirimana, Ferguson, Vuckic, Campbell

    Then for Chelsea:

    Krul
    Simpson – S.Taylor – Coloccini – Santon
    Tiote – Anita
Ben Arfa – Cabaye – Gutierrez
    Ba

Subs: Elliot, Good, R. Taylor, Bigirimana, Ferguson, Vuckic, Cisse

I just think that City’s title win last season has panicked old Fergie, he’s paid 24 million for a 29 year old, injury prone striker who only had one year left on his contract and reports have in trying to sign Kaka who’s star has well and truly fallen of late, and is tonight playing Carrick as a CB

It is very difficult to put out a suggested side because we don’t know how’s injured or if some “needs” resting, but I’ll give et a go on what I know.

Bare in mind I never get Pardew’s tactics right 😉

MFH…..Campbell could be the surprise player of the season – I hope so anyway. I too have faith the young lads will do their job, but we can’t expect too much from them, they are after all just starting out. Will be great experience for them though and for me PL has to be number 1 priority.

Now I leave, answering all posts to me, like the well raised boy I am 🙂
