It’s another new adventure for Alan Pardew with Newcastle, as he takes the Magpies back into Europe for the first time in six seasons, and Alan is certainly looking forward to it, that’s for sure.
Alan Pardew – got to get the section right
And Newcastle could not have got off to a much better start than a win at home to a good looking Tottenham side on Saturday, after the lads came back well in the second half after being second best in the first 45 minutes.
But it’s tough for any manager when you have two important games on in just 48 hours, but that’s what’s nest up for Newcastle United as they tackle Greek side Atromitos on Thursday night in Athens in the Europa League and then play at Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, in another tough league game.
It’s not the first time Alan has taken a team into Europe as he did that with West Ham back in 2006, but they lost to Palermo 4-0 on aggregate in the two legged tie of round one of the UEFA Cup – let’s hope he does better this time around.
This is what Alan said today:.
“We are really looking forward to it.” “It’s a new adventure for us. We’ve got a win against Tottenham on Saturday, so that’s going to buoy us, and I’ve got to hope that I get the selection right.”
“We need to win that game, and we’ve got to have a team that is going to win. But we’re going to use everybody – we’re going to have to, because we’ve got Chelsea two days later.”
“Our application and attitude must be spot on. It was against Tottenham and that is why we got the win.”
Newcastle have a strong squad and we think it’s stronger than last season at this time – and players like Harper, Tavernier, Bigirimana, Anita, Vuckic, Abeid, Ryan Taylor and others can help Newcastle do well in Europe this seaosn, but the Premier League is still Newcastle number one priority.
Newcastle are slowly but surely getting abckt o being one of the best teams in Emngland again, but it’s important the lads do well in the next two games.
Howay The Lads!!
