Lille May Rethink Position on Debuchy – Newcastle On Red Alert

It seems that Lille President Michel Seydoux may have to rethink his stance on whether he will allow right-back Mathieu Debuchy to leave the French club this summer, and it seems to depend on whether Lille can advance to the group stages of the Champions League.

Mathieu Debuchy – desperate to join Newcastle

Lille were beaten 1-0 on Tuesday night in the first leg of their play-off against FC Copenhagen in Denmark, and they would lose around €20M (£16M), is they fail to make it through to the group stages of the competition.

Lille could still get through but if they don’t, that could leave the door open for Newcastle to go back in with a bid, and that could even be successful in getting Debuchy to Tyneside late in the transfer window.

It seems that Newcastle have already had a couple of offers rejected by Lille for their right-back, as President Seydoux said the bids of €5M (£4M) and €6M (£4.8M) did not reach his valuation of the player, and he broke off negotiations with Newcastle a few weeks ago.

According to French sports daily L’Equipe, today, Seydoux may have to rethink his stance on the French International, if the club do not qualify for the group stages of the Champions League.

The second leg of their tie with Copenhagen takes place next Wednesday evening, and that will still leave two days left in the transfer window, and enough time for Newcastle to lodge a slightly improved offer, and the Tyneside club may be successful in getting the French International to Tyneside – finally!

It helps that Mathieu has made it clear to everyone concerned, that he is desperate to join Newcastle United.

1 away goal from the Danes would make it very difficult for them. Still want Debuchey or dreamboat 2 as some of you have renamed him.

    Captaincy is irrelevant.

Any leader will be vocal on the pitch whether they have the armband or not.

If Willo is to be captain tonite then it seems I am off on our suppose midfield; I had Jonas to start and captain the side 😀

Ohh well then Bigi will take his place 😀

    ————— Harper —————-
    Tav —— Willo — Perch —— Raylor
    ——— – Bigi —– Anita ————
    ————- Gosling —————–
    Obertan ——————– Marveaux
    ————– cisse ——————

I am a bid puzzled here and I actually think this might end up being a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 instead 🙂

@ Ibizatoon, many thanks M8. I’ll have a look about later in case things change. The sun pullout from last weekend lists ESPN as coverng a Europe game, but I checked the listings on their site and no game is covered.

Fella’s its live on vipstand and firstrowsports but they can be dodgey at times so the best bet will be to watch it live on the official UEFA website as its being shown on their. Enjoy the game lads.

As the windows end approaches, assholes get tighter, the brinkmanship has to end with one side or the other, if a deal is to be made.
It appers from what Ed. sez, though couched in terms we would,nt think NUFC blinked first, that we are about to raise our bid.
    Good !
