The following policies should be taken into consideration before commenting:
An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.
And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.
There are no treatments left for me to go on.I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.
It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.
I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
Thanks for all your help through the years - it's very much appreciated

I can’t really forsee our entire starting 11 being injured.
Slotting a couple of players in, and changing an entire starting 11, are two veeery very different things!

Comment #3Very assured performance, were a little sloppy until Atromitos scored but after that there was only ever one team in it and we got the essential away goal.
No injuries and a good look at some of the younger fringe players.
Anyone that thinks that Tav should immediately be chosen at RB instead of Simmo needs to get their head examined though, the kid is good but has a lot to learn.

Comment #4I love our defence now, if only Williamson had even half of what Bigi, Perch and Raylor have in determination in class he would be decent.

Comment #6Was a rubbish game of football to watch. Wish Campbell got the opportunity to play upfront with someone. He is not a loan striker. Still congrats to the lad!
An away goal is all that counts.

Be happy if I didn’t see Gosling or Obertan in a NUFC jersey ever again. They’re becoming deadwood and we have promising players like Amalfitano being given limited time, due to them being given their billionth chance to impress.
Overall – shite and a bad attitude/approach
Positives – Amalfitano showed he’s a real footballer with a few dribbles and his fleet of foot. Campbell looked hungry and showed much better movement and hold-up ability than Cisse. Bigi also did well aside from 1 rick.
MOTM however – Perchinio – didn’t put a foot wrong.

Comment #10Also why oh why do we insist on hooving every corner and freekick to williamson for him to just foul. I honestly dont think i have ever seen him win one. Waste of a set piece.

No of course not the entire starting eleven but if we lose Taylor/Cabaye/Ben Arfa all around the same time, we’ll struggle.

Comment #13Also am I the only one who thinks that Obertan is playing with a little bit more confidence, he showed some excellent touches throughout the game, wasn’t afraid to try and take on his man and while his final ball was often lacking he never failed to try again.
His final ball can be improved and once it is he should be a proper little gem for us, was very impressed with him tonight.

Comment #16MOTM was Biggie for me, for someone so young to look so assured and composed on the ball is very, very rare. his positional sense is brilliant, this lad is going to be something special I think 😀

Comment #22the thing i thought was best about our team today was we did not put our heads down when they went 1-0 ahead.
if that had happened last season i bet the final result would have bee 3/4-1

Comment #27I think we may struggle In domestic cups. Not a negative statement just a realistic perception.
I think we need some quality added to the first team and less pressure put onto the youngsters.
That team tonight was to full of players who have either A. Confidence issues B. Fitness Issues C. Have hardly played for a whole season or 2 D. Too much pressure put on them at a young age.
Overall the result was good but the performance is worrying and reflects what I’ve been saying for a long time. We need investment if we are truly going to try to repeat our feats this coming season.

Comment #31The moaning on this site gets on my tits sometimes. We had a job to do and we did it, we wont loose at st james’ so we are through on an away goal!
We had lots of players playing there first competitive matchess of the season you could see match sharpness/fitness wasnt there and also halfway throughthe second half we were content with a draw so we were just keeping possession.
MOTM for me is Bigi, the potential of that kid is huuuuge, and he seems to have the passion and dedication so that promise will come to fruition without a doubt. Fantastic signing.

Comment #33Good game. Kinda expected a game like this. A draw will do and we should be able to win at home and get through this. Amalfitano, Anita, Bigirimana all looked good. Didn’t see enough of Campbell. Obertan same old same old although he put in few good crosses in the second half but still not enough and needs to improve. Gosling didn’t do much either.

Comment #38Unfair to vote for Arnita because for me he is a 1st teamer. A class player and a huge signing for the club.
Bigi was the revelation tonight. It’s like watching a teenage Tiote who can actually pass the ball. The kid has everything. How on earth we got him so cheap is staggering. He’ll be the one a few years from now getting linked with the big money moves.
What a performance. Bossed the midfield and alongside Arnita proves we have a formidable back-up to Cabaye and Tiote.

haven’t you got your moniker problem sorted yet ?
Deffo shouldn’t have two guys with same name … too confusing .
Score draw away at Stamford Bridge would do okay for first three games of the season….until we bring in those new players next week haha:-)

Comment #40The Good:
Amalfitano: After he came on for Gosling immediately made space for everyone else. Obertan looked much better because of this. He’s fun to watch. Very intuitive.
Perch: Continues to Amaze.
Campbell: Looks quick. Didnt look fazed by opportunity. He’s a gamer.
Anita: Tidy player. The future of him Amalfitano, Santon, and perhaps Ferguson on left looks very promising.
Papiss: Looks just as comfortable as last season.
The Bad:
Tavernier: Exposed at least 4 times that I can count. Uncomfortable on the ball. He’s 20, but so far seems a Poor Man’s Danny Simpson.
Gosling: I thought he had a good game in one of the preseason matches, but he’s too slow, Amalfitano created more in 25 minutes than he did in 65.
Bigirimana’s Ball Control: Gave the ball away a few times, better competition would punish this type of error from a DFM.
Obertan’s Final Product: Did better in the second half, but still confounds me how someone with all the necessary skill can continue to disappoint.
