Pardew – We Showed Chelsea Too Much Respect

Newcastle lost the game on Saturday in the first half, when they conceded two goals, and that was always going to be difficult for the lads in the second half to come back, but they at least gave it their best shot, and had Chelsea on the back foot for a lot of that second half.

Vurnon Anita trips Torres – penalty – Chelsea 1-0 ahead

But the performance in the first 45 minutes was simply not good enough, and that was also true in the first half against Tottenham, but we were lucky that Tottenham hit the woodwork twice, otherwise we could have ended up on the losing side in that game too.

Aklan Pardew has talked about the game today in the Newcastle Journal:

“We paid for the opening 45 minutes. You can’t give Chelsea a 45-minute head start. That’s where the game was won for them. I thought we bossed the second half, and if we’d got a goal 15 minutes or so before the end, we would have put them on the back foot.”

“There’s no excuse there at all. There’s only two players – Vurnon Anita and Papiss Cissé – who played in Greece and on Saturday. We had fresh legs out there; we just didn’t perform in the first 45 minutes as a team.”  “We got exploited, and maybe showed them a bit too much respect.”

“We just have to get on with it and the second half showed what we’re about. We passed it and bossed it, and were first to nearly everything.”  “We opened them up a few times and there was loads of space for us down the sides, but that first half just killed us.”

“There were some uncharacteristic errors and we just need to get back to that winning mentality, energy and team spirit that we showed last year. If we can do that, I don’t think we’ll go far wrong. We have to bounce back this weekend against Aston Villa and I’m sure we will.”

Newcastle have tow important games this week and we should be able to qualify for the Europa League group stages by beating Atromitos on Thursday night at St. James’ Park.

And then it will be really important that Newcastle get back to our winning ways against Aston Villa, who have lost both of their opening league games of the season.

We need all 3 points against Villa next Sunday, and then we’ll have made a decent start to the season.

Howay The Lads!!

We needed Perch on from the start to just clatter Hazard!

Anyway it’s been and gone now, we can learn but nothing else will cone of it talking about it anymore.

    Let’s talk transfer countdown.

    Question:

Since nufc returned to the PL. Have we ever signed anyone on a deadline day?

If only Giusseppe Rossi was fit. He’d have been the perfect signing with his versatility, creativity, pace & attacking threat also available to sign with Villarreal relegated.

I’d be prepared to wait till he’s fit in the new year, bring him on loan with view to a permanent move (depending Villarreal’s price tag for him).

Whey there we go TorqToon, we are on different sides of the carroll fance haha but so what. I’ve seen people rip each others throats out on here for nowt. People should be able to disagree and still remain friendly! As for brendan at liverpool, I think he will struggle this season big time. He’s sort of treating carroll the way andre villash boash treated lampard. Freezing him out for no apparent reason. Now I diskike carroll, but he is a useful commodity and I see this decision backfiring for him their fans must wonder what’s going on haha

I don’t think we did too much in 2nd half also.. Strange to see Cisse and Cabaye bit off their game.. 🙁 and Villa will come back strong after two straight defeats. Fingers crossed for Cisse magic next weekend..

Beattie – Shefki and Ireland were deadline day buys werent they?! Canny remember for sure. Granted not exactly the exciting signings I would have liked…hence why I’m not sure when they happened! 🙂

We’ve been linked with Yann M’Villa this morning. Think we’ll go in for him if Tiote leaves.

Our main priorities this week should be Remy/Dembele/Gameiro, Debuchy and Mbiwa.

PbNcl – Exactly lad! Not everybody agrees with everybody else, but why some people fail to see on here are nobody minds differing arguments as long as they are intellectually portrayed and backed up. Rather than the constant Shola/ober bashing that goes on. I may well be wrong or wearing my toon tinted glasses but I’ve tried to put my Geordie heart to one side with what I say regards AC. Which as a born and bred Geordie is a very hard thing to do!! 🙂

noticed that for the chelsea match we did not have a striker on the bench, bringing on rtaylor and perch on as subs really gave the chelsea team the wobblys….Not
We havnt a plan b if cisse or ba are not functioning, so would say we are in need of a young stiker as soon as.
Not convinced about carrol though and cant see us buying him, esp for the sum being bounded about.
Infact Im sure that MA has now said that a players limit is 7m and wont go any higher, I believe the amount of 9m for cisse will be a record fee for sometime to come, or perhaps the 10m for colo. (this was an after thought)
For me a striker is a must for us to make progress, those pushing for A.Campbell should realise he is too young and light weight for the prem, plus a defender if possible.

Can anybody really envisage a ‘suit’ forcing tiote into a decision he don’t want!?

Kets – Has the M’Villa link only surfaced as the Tiote to arsenal link was all over the Sunday rags? Can’t see us going in for him myself, unless – like you say, mr t leaves. Which I highly doubt.

Also just testing the water here.

If the window closes and it remains that we have reduced the wage bill and spent a total of £2.6 million in new players would anybody else want to go on a protest march?

Everton did it last season and it seemed to work well. We could start at the train station, work our way through the city (stopping off at mcdonalds) and the heading to ST james’ park.

Once their we can destroy all sports direct logos, storm the reception and hold llambias to ransom!

We could say to Ashley ‘you ain’t getting del boy back until you pay us the £30 million we deservein transfer fees.

Knowing Ashley though he’d come back with a bid of £5 million cash up front.

    Whose with me?

Good words from Pards there but not sure about the ‘fresh legs’ comment. I absolutely hate losing (esp. to Chelski) but I’m not too worried as we were better 2nd half and on another day both Cisse and Ba would have buried their chances. Remember, we still have a few players who aren’t fit – Ba, Cisse and Tiote were all fasting recently and HBA and Colo’s been struggling with injuries. We need to get everyone fit again soon, but for now we’re doing ok.

It’s on the Sky Sports News Transfer page. If we sell Tiote for £25m and sign M’Vila for £15m it’d be great business.

    Haha aye beattie

Ill fashion a sign to go with me flamin pitchfork! ”Fat mike” I’d shout! ”We demand you to spend money and thereby undo all the hard work into getting us financially stable and one of the best business models in world football!”

Realistically, everything is going to plan and everything is double cush. We might struggle for numbers if we have a big injury, but we’ll manage. And a few years down the line we will be big in the game. Especially with the fifa financial fair play rules. Were already a leader in that dept

The diffrence between Chelsea and us was not class and it was not the playing systeem that Pards picked although everyone has been screaming on here about 4-4-2 !

Torres was hardly challenged by Anita when he went down for their first goal in the Pen area and i,ve watched it a number of times, and am convinced that Torres could have had a Yellow card for diving instead of a Penalty being awarded!
But then, it was at Stanford Bridge and the Ref was no way going to give such a decision to the home team, especially at Chelsea,s place.
Later in the game the same player dived again and did get his deserved yelllow but by then the damage had already been done!

Their second goal was a good well worked goal but we were always chasing the game after their Penalty in the first half.

Tiote is also a big miss in the mid-field, we just don,t seem to play well when he,s not on the park! If we had had converted one of our two or three chances then the whole second half would of been different!

Chelsea are Champion contenders this year!

Kets – You get a fair bit of stick on here mad but I’ve now seen several different sources linking us with M’Villa plus your sky sports one. They could all be lazy journalism, but one that I read said they have 3 offers in, spurs (who failed to agree terms), Everton and an ‘unnamed’ club.

    Who knows…..!!?????!!!

Does anyone else not long to live in a paralell universe where murdering social media knobheads was welcomed?

I swear if I read one more cock monster saying ‘Anita isnt as good as Tiote’ I’m going to burst in a nuclear explosion that will wipe out the entire planet.

Different players, different qualities and after 2 fcuking games (in 48 hrs may I add) he’s already being judged.

Some of our fans are the most pathetic I have ever seen

It’s a shame we have to share our fine club with some of the biggest idiots in the world.

I swear to god if we had success we’d be worse than Liverpool fans

There’s only one solution. Sell Anita to the mackems now. Bring back Carroll for £70M. Then burn SJP to the ground. That’ll teach them for losing to Chelsea!

Totally agree with the title. We need to be a bit bolder and push sides back. Too often against the bigger teams we invite them onto us, concede and end up chasing games. If we start with the idea that a defeat is the expected result, why not be more attacking ? Logical or illogical ?

If the price of keeping Ba and Cisse happy is to play 4-4-2 then it is too high. Cisse should have sat out the first half and we could have done with Anita or Perch on in midfield and Cabaye and Ben Arfa able to back Ba up in the box. I thought 4-4-2 was a strange choice against Chelsea.
