Agent Says Douglas To Stay At FC Twente

News today that FC Twente defender Douglas will be staying at the Dutch club, and he will not be leaving for either Newcastle or Fulham, at least according to one of his agents, Rodrigo da Silveira.

Douglas – agent says he’s staying in Holland

The Brazilian has confused almost everybody this summer, with his various pronouncements of what he wants to do, one moment saying he wants to stay at Twente, and then saying he’d love to play in the Premier League in England.

But the news late Sunday was that his club had given him until today to decide whether he wants to stay or go, and it looks like he will be staying and seeing out the last year of his contract in Holland.

There was news over the last couple of days that he was due in London on Monday to negotiate a deal with Fulham, but his agent Rodrigo da Silveira has said that’s just not true, as he told De Telegraaf today:

“We’re not in London and won’t go to London. We’re with Douglas in Enschede and don’t negotiate with Fulham.” “Douglas will be on the pitch on Thursday against Bursaspor.” “Douglas is happy at FC Twente and will stay there.”

FC Twente play in their Europa League qualifier against Bursaspor on Thursday evening.

So there you have it, it appears that he’s staying in Holland,  so look for Newcastle to go after him for a nominal fee in January.

Maybe that’s the end of  the Douglas transfer saga this summer – maybe.

He’s entitled to stay. Family happy in Holland …

Until we have a bid accepted by Twente it’s all agent talk and press bollox anyway.

I don’t think Douglas has been a target for a good 3 months now.

I still think we are either waiting to see who we are offered or the whole window has been one big LIE!!!!

I’ll guarantee we sign someone though.

I had a check of the original source and using google translate the article explains that Rodrigo da Silveira is the right hand man of his main agent. The reason why this guy is being quoted is that he can speak english and the agent can’t.

Also the article states that percentages of any transfer would go 2 agents if it happens in this window. However, if Douglas waits until the end of his contract, one of his agents will lose out on his percentage. This agent seems to be out of the picture currently and the other agent is the one in charge.

To me it seems (from my interpretation of the article) that Douglas is waiting for a better offer to come along and also gaining more money from having less agents involved.

Lads just prepare yourselves for loads of patronising spin coming from the club in the next few days! Ashley has ensured his investment is safe. Newcastle are a secure top half team and there is no threat of relegation. He will ensure stability and that the club will chug along nicely where it is. Forget about key signings as that costs money and to move to that next level will cost alot! He really doesn’t have to spend as the team is already good enough where it is………a team that has just finnished 5th and is in Europe! Why spend when you already have it!!!! Frustrates the hell out of me but think about it! He isn’t a crewd billionaire for nothing! Just hope i am wrong!!!

This guy is amazing! We really should be in for him. He’ll cost far less than “Donkey” Andy Carroll!

If we were going to sign Douglas then surely that would have happened when DL & LC were over in Holland negotiating, I think this is dead in the water now.
I’m hoping we at least sign a defender but got a sneaking suspicion we’ll sign nowt.

Obviously everybody wants to win trophies and play on the champs league.

But are we really that disappointed with a top ten side which can challenge any team in the league on our day?

I like to think that we have built for a top ten finish then hoping some of the youngsters we bring in will develop into top class players and allow us to challenge higher in a few years time.

All this rubbish about our players leaving of we don’t get champs league is nonsense. Arsenal lose players all the time and they have spent 17 consecutive years in the champs league.

Top players want trophies, that’s what they will remember in 50 years, not juat playing chanpions league. They want the medals to go with it.

Mag-till-death. Is it wise to try and hijack a bid for a player who is at Villas level. Remember we tried that with ruiz and fulham last year, and we clearly dodged a bullet because he is awful. This guy may be a bit better, but if villa want him, I’m not sure he’d be right for us. Just a thought.

Morning, martoon. How’s it going? I think if we do sign a player it will be thursday latest, pardew doesn’t seem to sign anyone at the death. I think our deadline will be thursday night.

    I agree with these sentiments.

We are a Club happy to coast along without too much ambition – main aim being to avoid relegation.

    No one coming this window.

To be honest sick and tired about hearing about this bloke. Are Fulham the bigger team than NUFC that want him?
He appointed his agents so if they are dicking about he he should sack them.

What a twat. His agents and the player for being banding about his potential moves building every ones hopes only then to stay in Holland! F Off you and your agent! I always preferred Mbiwa to this guy anyway but I am pissed that yet again all this waiting has come to nothing.

GET Mbiwa over the bloody line and we then can all laugh at this Douglas fiasco.

I’d like to see three new faces: a cb, fb and a striker.

A cb would be good but with Perchy as back up i think we could cope provided that Taylor and Coloccini both stay fit

I think a fb is the main priority – as much as people argue for him, Simpson is just not good enough for our progression. Debuchy would be ideal, but with Santon able to play left back or right back then it gives us a few more options.

We desperately need a striker imo. it looks as if Pardew is set on playing two up to to appease Demba Ba, but should Senegal beat Ivory Coast then come January we’d have one senior striker in Shola (provided he was actually fit).

I think MA realises that strikers naturally command the most fees – flogging AC for 35 and then paying arguably double our usual transfer fees for Cisse. So hopefully he’ll stump up for another top striker – ideally a pacey forward like Remy

@14 JToonJ. Er…. No. That list just shows what we have agreed to spend this window on transfer acquisitions. Doesn’t take into account, outgoings, last January window, or indeed ‘Wages committed to’ (take RVP as a prime example!).
It’s just a nice X-Factor moment for TV, which i enjoy looking at, but know it’s just a ruse. God help those who believe that their sons/daughters can really sing…. or that the list in question is indeed a definition of ambition.
