Oh No – Real Madrid Make €10M Bid for Mathieu Debuchy

There are reports coming out of France today that Real Madrid are interested in 27 year-old Lille defender Mathieu Debuchy, and that the Spanish club are ready to make a bid of €10M for the French International right back.

Real Madrid are in for the French International Mathieu Debuchy

France Football  are reporting that Real Madrid have made Debuchy a definite transfer target, and Jose Mourinho’s club are apparently willing to pay €10M (£7.9M)to get their man, and that will leave Newcastle out in left-field,  even if they had decided to go in one more time for the French International, and try to agree a fee with his club Lille – for the umpteenth time.

This is what comes of haggling over £1M, which is what Lille wanted over and above Newcastle’s best offer so far, and if the news is true and Real Madrid are going after the Frenchman,  we can all kiss Debuchy goodbye.

News out of Spain tonight suggests that Real have already put in a bid of €10M, and that wouldn’t be surprising,  since there’s only until Friday for the deal to go through, and even though Debuchy wanted to come to Newcastle, Real Madrid are one of the biggest and best football clubs in the world, and won the European Cup for the first five years of its existence.

Real Madrid are said to be unhappy with the form of current right-back and former Liverpool player Álvaro Arbeloa.

The news yesterday was that Newcastle were about to go in with a new €7.5M bid for Debuchy, which is why the Spanish giants are going in quite a bit above that figure, and their bid will be very likely be accepted by Lille, since it’s  even above the club’s own valuation of their player.

This is one of the problems with Newcastle’s transfer policy – that they hold out and hold out for a good deal – but if the player’s really good, some top clubs can just come in and bid what the selling club wants – and they get the player – in a New York minute.

As an example, we wouldn’t pay more than £1M for left-back Neil Taylor of Swansea last summer, and now how much is the lad worth? Manchester United are now said to be interested in getting him to Old Trafford.

So we can overdo the thrift bit of the transfer deals a little bit too much, and Newcastle seem to have done that with Debuchy, and it now remains to be seen if Newcastle try to get a defender through the door before Saturday rolls around.

Debuchy is still injured and will not play against Copenhagen in the Champions League qualifier tomorrow night, which Lille are trailing 1-0 after the first leg away from home.

Bottom line – if this news is correct, we’ve missed out on Mathieu Debuchy.

We won’t sign anyone. Hope I’m wrong. When has Ashley signed anyone this late in the window? With the exception of Kuqi.

If true, big if of course, it certainly supports the notion that other clubs are now letting Newcastle do their scouting for them and also sheds a darker light on Mourinhos’ recent text to AP wishing us well in Europe. Cynical?

Last year the clamour was for Dan Sturridge wii most of you on here mentioning figures of 15-20m. Now Sturridge is reportedly available for 10m no mention!

This year the clamour is for Remy at 9-15m.

Are the Remy heeds the Sturridge heeds?

Beefman, from previous thread. I had a positive outlook last season. I did not mourn Barton or Nolan going and was generally happy with our business last summer. I never felt for one moment that we would be in any danger of relegation as many had us down for.
We’re victims of last season’s success and as such we’re being screwed a litter tighter when in negotiations.
Sometimes you have to go that little bit further, which we have not done thus far this summer.

Far from by passing Cabaye if Carroll returned. Does anyone else think Cabaye would be the main benificiary of Carrolls knockdowns and hold up play like Nolan was?

If this report is true then it shows the true quality of Debuchy. The lad is quoted saying he wants to come here but we are playing hardball for the sake of a couple million, and before anyone says two million is alot of money it is not in footballing terms.

If this is true we lost out on a Real Madrid first team play because of a measly 1 million! A figure we could have got for selling Simpson upon signing Debuchy, infact probably more!

I like the way we do business but sometimes if it’s 1 or 2m just pay it. If it was like Luuk de Jong and we offer 12m and they sell for 20m so be it, it’s alot more money!

But if this was to be true and he is off to play in RM starting 11, £7 million would have looked to be a bargain!

The clubs transfer policy has pros and cons, in this case it was just being tight therefore a con!

Douglas will be off in January for near nothing or next summer for nothing, I doubt we will get him then should we face big competition!

Rated best defender in the Dutch League for free! I think even likes of Arsenal and Barcelona who have very average defences may take a punt!

Again a victim of our own success for not getting it wrapped up long before now!

Prediction – NO players will sign come Friday. We could even have lost one of our key players!

It’s to the point I wish the transfer window had passed yesterday, UNLESS we sign someone worthy of a mention?

Isn’t Ramos Real Madrid’s regular rb? I know he plays centre half also. Perhaps Ramos will go in at centre half now Carvallho is surplus to requirements. Real aren’t exactly short of central defenders though.

novo we went a bit further with anita, still three days left in the window, my opinion is we will get someone else through the door, and no one leaves, time will tell. no one leaving is a massive statement as well, but 20/25 million for both tiote and cabaye would prove very hard for anyone to turn down and i reckon it would take 25 million apeice to get them, we are being ran as a business thats for sure and 500 per cent profit for cabaye and 700 per cent for tiote no business would turn that down.

Mike Ashley u r a prick like!!!! If debuchy gos to real Madrid then that is a big disappointment! Why the hell did we not just pay what Lille wanted. For me 6.5 million is a bargain for a quality international full back. Put it this way,we will NOT get a better full back for that price. Serves us right really for trying to wait for Lille to crumble and give in. He will b a great signing for real if this has any truth unit!!! I really feel we will all be left disappointed come Friday, believe me!!!

Carroll right now is the most likley incoming player! For fooking 10+million too! Yet the majority of this blog would prefer a lone striker formation! We would have 2 arguably first team strikers sitting on the bench!!

We and Carroll hold all the cards in this transfer saga. He only wants to leave of it is us. 12m is actually market value and his vale will only decrease should he bench warm until January when we will offer less money for him!

Carroll won’t mind he gets paid 80k a week for nothing! I mean seriously Liverpool need to just swallow the pride, openly admit the mistake of overpaying and get the best deal possible now. Otherwise it will only get worse unless he becomes a starting player banging in the goals!

Which I dont think BR will even give him the chance!!

If we were to sign anyone I prefer it be a defender any position would help out team LB CB or RB! I think a striker addition would be near pointless unless Senegal win IC in the AFCN qualifiers or we lose both Dembas to injury!

I personally think if we WERE to sign someone it would be a unknown kid for future position wherever or Carroll

But really I think we won’t sign anyone!

Beefman. Agreed. Perhaps the Anita deal was done as an insurance policy in case either Tiote or Cabaye are poached.
I would like to have seen a little more intent in terms of signings. I’m not saying we should be held to ransom but we should be able to negotiate a deal to land our top targets. This seems beyond us.

couchy if debuchy`s price is so good why have we been the only ones chasibg him for months, if two million is not much extra to pay why dont we stretch to 4 million extra then am sure we could push to 6 million if we really needed to were does it end when negotiating with players, MA is very shrew and over the lasrt three years we have brought in players who have improved there value no end yet he is a prick to some cos he wont be bullied by michel sedoux, MA could sell him 10 times over.

Stinks of some kind of price wargame between Mike Ashley and the boss of Lille FC. Debuchy wants to be in Newcastle with his mate Cabaye.

Ebay price hike tactics won’t phase the Sports Direct King.
