Dempsey Could Make It Even Tougher For Carroll At Liverpool

Andy Carroll is an easy going youngster, and he always been strong mentally, and news today that he’s  even relaxed about his future, and the 23 year-old will be quite willing to stay at Anfield and fight for his place, if Newcastle fail to agree a deal with Liverpool to bring him back home.

Andy Carroll – in England colors

But there’s also news starting to come through that Liverpool will be bringing Clint Dempsey to Merseyside from Fulham before Saturday, so that will probably mean even less playing time for Andy with The Reds.

The Evening Chronicle today has some comments form a source close to Andy (Carroll himself?) and the unnamed source – who seems to get around all over the place – had this to day:

“Andy just wants to play football and concentrate on his career at club and international level.” “He’s aware of everything in the media. But his outlook has always been to just work hard in training, something he’s done all summer.”

“That reception on Sunday meant a lot to Andy.” “He knows that he’s got the fans by his side and he’d never dream of letting any of them down.”

When Andy was brought on after 86 minutes on Sunday against Manchester City he got a very warm reception from the Liverpool fans, who seem to have taken to the big lad, even though he has struggled for form at the club.

Andy has scored 11 goals in 58 appearances for Liverpool since signing for them on January 31st, 2011 for £35M, and while at Newcastle  knocked in 33 goals in 91 appearances.

Andy is getting huge wages at Liverpool, and at least financially he would not be too willing to leave the club, but it seems Andy is only thinking of his football career, and apparently is willing to take a wage cut to move back to Newcastle.

The fact that Andy is being so professional and willing to fight for his place, probably makes it worse for Liverpool, and it seems so obvious that he’s not the type of footballer Brendan Rodgers likes, and he’s simply not going to be used much at the club this season.

And if Brendan Rodgers brings in Clint Dempsey, and that’s now a rumor in the press, that’s two new strikers the former Swansea manger will have brought in over the summer, and he also signed Luis Suarez to a new long term contract to keep him at the club.

It seems to us Andy Carroll is out in the cold on Mersyside, through no fault of his own, other than Liverpool have a new manager with different ideas from the man who signed him – Kenny Dalglish.

It would be good if he can be brought back to Newcastle before Saturday.

    Uch…negative mood.
Someone said we did not strengthen last season.
We got 8 players in, 4 players left, how’s that not strengthening?
We’ve gotten 4 players in this year, Smith, Loven, Guthrie and Best has gone.
Would u rather have up and coming or outdated and average?
Not counting Guthrie in the two latter.
We need depth, strength in depth.
At the same time we’ve got the emergence of several young players who’ll get ever better this year…

We lack 3 players peeps, outside the ones we have and some i’d like to replace.
That is damn near close to a full size CL squad.

    Realism check!

Sorry – repost from last thread as Ed is on a roll 🙂
People demanding Ashley spends his money need to grow-up. This is not Football Manager, it’s real life. Ashley has pumped huge amounts of his own cash into the club. I’m not saying he’s the world’s best owner and he’s clearly made mistakes BUT unlike so many others has learned from them. We have our targets and a budget we’re willing to spend to. If a club want more than we’re willing to pay we move on. I love the way this club is run now. We all too easily forget that before Ashley we were on the brink of doing a Leeds. Pardew seems happy wit the squad he has and based on last season’s performance I agree with him.

    re-post from the previous thread

Talking about comparable for the same product. Why is it that AP and Carr have identified that we need a RB,CB and a Striker and yet we have not signed anyone in this regard. I do not agree with paying over the odds for players but either we are in the market or not…surely. If a player is overpriced then we move onto another……..is the argument that every single player in the market is overpriced?

BTW if we cant get the needed men because we havent got money for them , we could loan 1-2 men just to have a bigger but needed squad. A few young guns from the top clubs could help us – like it was with Aanholt.

@toon smart. Saw it on sky sports news at the weekend. Blood tests first, checking cell counts, liver function and infection (raised white cell count) then they do ecg for heart defects, and also use ultrasound to check valves and blood flow. Then they get mri scanned for bone and muscle damage.

Its saying on the sky sports website that Miralam Sulejmani wants to leave Ajax, and they were willing to listen to offers. They said they have received one concrete offer from a premier league club but are not revealing who. This is what we normally ask for when negotiating and he could solve the striker problem we could potentially have. I have not seen anything of him, would he be good enough for us?

Spreadthetoon – i agree with the basis of your argument but then, finding potential targets is not up to MA. He can sanction the transfer from a financial point of view but it’s up to Carr and the scouts to find the players. So if MA refuses to pay more for Debuchy…why hasn’t another target come up?!…well i dont think that is MA’s fault tbh.

    @Spreadtoon
For me, it comes down to our valuation and their valuation.
I think we spend ALLOT of time talking values down, IF we are in the same realm on the fee.
If we do not get that fee sorted, it’s on to the next on the list.
If there’s none available on the list that matches Carrs valuation, then we buy none at all.

It’s simple for them, but it’s hard for us to take.

All I ever read nowadays is ‘we are savvy’ , ‘we are living within our means’ etc.
Someone said a couple of weeks ago all fans on here have become wannabe accountants and club businessmen.
Fair enough we should be aware of our financial status, but it’s consumed every single aspect of this blog near enough.
Ashley’s propaganda has really worked. Seems like we’ve lost a bit of spark as fans. this window we have shown no ambition, we should have tied up our 3 needed signings yonks ago, no question! Yet In 80% of the posts here I read are defending it.
Of course no one expects us to blow cash away like Liverpool or Chelsea, but to spend on par with the likes of clubs we are competing with is an absolute must in the modern game. Whatever anyone says I’ll be extremely dissapointed and upset if we finish lower than 6th and it’s obviously due to lack if investment. which could well happen.

Not within the area of what we want to spend obviously.
A player we sign has to:

    – Be a hard worker
    – Comfortable on the ball
    – An attidude that fits the club
    – Excell and be more than “good enough” for his position
    – Somewhat versatile
    – Cost less than £6 mill
    – Take the team forward another step.

    Find me that player mate.

Munster Mag – it might be that the better part of the money the club brings in goes towards covering the debt NUFC has to repay to MA. Consider the fact that the club’s income has to cover expenses (training ground, salaries etc etc) and the payments towards MA. Whatever we have left of MA chooses to throw in there is what will go towards transfers. When we reach a point of financial stability that’s when we will be stronger in the transfer market too imho.

Think he might be a back up for if Cabaye leaves, il be amazed if no1 leaves in this window! Reckon wel bring in a striker and a fullback before Friday!

We have to Hold on Tight and Keep who we have and Buy in Jan if Needed ‘But Letting Best and Lovenkrands Go was not Good Business without a New Striker in Place…

I’ve never understood why people just ‘accept’ it. If everyone lived like that then there still be slavery, the Nazis would’ve occupied the world and we’d still have royalty governing our every move.

Pathetic just to accept it. You fight for what you believe in or you defend it to the death.

I for one will not accept it and whilst I cannot rule up thousands of Geordies to march with me what I can do I refuse to support the club that I love until the dictator is gone.

I am though still confident he will invest!

What I find odd, and I asked the question earlier, is that in surprise how little we spend in relation to other clubs and they haven’t gone bankrupt.

I mean I can see the danger of spending 200 million on players but if there was a huge danger of spending 20 million why do so many clubs in a lower position that is spend it?

Isn’t it bloomin’ obvious why spending has been limited thus far? If NUFC progress beyond the Greek banana skin and into the Euro group stages then expect a frenetic last 24 hours. However if the team flops out, then the locks will stay firmly in place on Ashley’s piggybank, and expect at least one departure.

Which is maybe as it should be if we can’t blow away Atromitos? Carrot and stick, I suppose?
