It seems all quiet on the Newcastle transfer front, and of course the good news is that no club has come in for any of our top players, so Mike Ashley putting £25M on the heads of both Yohan Cabaye and Cheick Tiote seems to have done the trick.
Alan Pardew – happy to keep his top stars at the club
The way Andy Carroll was sold eighteen months ago should never happen again, and it looks like Newcastle have learned their lesson, but we’d have liked to have seen at least one defender and another striker brought in during this transfer window.
But young Adam Campbell will become the fourth striker this season, and of course Haris Vuckic can rifle them in too, as he showed last night with a wonderful first goal for the club.
And we have to hope that Curtis Good comes good, and James Perch is becoming a very important player at the club, with Perchinho able to play defensive midfield, and anywhere across the back line, and we’d love this lad to get a contract extension soon.
Alan Pardew seems happy enough that he has kept his top stars on Tyneside, and in his press conference for the Aston Villa game on Sunday, this is what Alan has just said:
“I am hoping business is done. We have kept our main players.” “Anita is a first team regular and we have young players who can develop. They can grab the chance of Europe and the Capital One Cup.”
“I don’t think we will bring anyone in or anyone will go out. But you never know at this football club.” “The targets we have are impossible to sign today and we will go with what we’ve got.”
Newcastle have almost the same side as last season, so there’s no reason we cannot do well again – we’ve brought in Romain Amalfitano, Gael Bigirimana, Curtis Good, and Vurnon Anita and let Alan Smith, Leon Best, Danny Guthrie, Fraser Forster and Peter Lovenkrands leave the club.
Newcastle can still have another great season, and that has to start with all 3 points on Sunday against Aston Villa.
Howay The Lads!!

Comment #46Right that looks like the Transfer window is done and Taylor and Perch are Injured so lets analyse some things from Last nights game:
Vuckic could do a job up front as the big man if he bulks up a bit
Obertan is gaining confidence best i have seen him in a Toon shirt
It also shows that players have to play on their best foot as this cutting inside crap does not work against teams Obertan and Marveux getting to the by line was quite exciting to watch which if we done that in a 442 situation could create chances
Here is a few teams that could work judging by our injury situation etc in both of these formations Santon and Anita would provide the overlapping width on their proper sides so they can just take a guy on and whip a ball in :
442 Krul
Santon Colo Taylor Anita
Obertan/Jonas Cabaye Tiote Arfa/Marveux
Cisse Ba
433 Krul
Santon Colo Taylor Anita
Cabaye Jonas Tiote
Arfa
Cisse Ba
Would love it if we signed some players in the next 7 hours but probably not going to happen!!

Comment #49every team we are competing with for tha 4 th place have strengthened massively so we are probabley looking at 7/8 at best this season. What incentive does fatty need more to make millions than to invest in the team to qualify for champions league. He cam make millions so they who say he is a good business man think again as he is loosing out big time by not investing to make more profit.

Comment #51I would actually take the like of Ryan Babel right now, just so we have cover. If we signed him and a defender like Pieters or Debuchy then i think majority would be happy with how the squad is looking as i feel its only Best we havent replaced. Doesnt take much Mike!

Comment #60No news is good news, but if possible I still hope the injury of Raylor can prone 1-2m more to meet the target of Lille so that we can get Debuchy coming! If he comes Cabaye is more likely to stay!!!
