Magpie Supporter Runs 30 Miles – Watches Newcastle Game

Newcastle supporter Josh Bone set out today on his goal of running seven marathons in seven days, and he completed his first marathon, after starting at Trafalgar Square in London, and he hopes to end up on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris next Saturday, 8th September.

Josh Bone – at 8:00 am this morning at Trafalgar Square
He arranged it so he could watch the Newcastle vs Aston Villa game later
Good for him!

Josh is running seven marathons in seven days to raise funds for cancer in memory of his father Ron, who unfortunately died of cancer last year.

But because of various twists and turns today, Josh ran more than the normal 26 miles and 385 yards (approximately of course), and he ran about 30 miles in just five hours – and was then able to watch the Newcastle vs Aston Villa game after that. 😀

You’ve got to get your priorities right.

He sent me an email at half time today, and we was a little bit worried about Newcastle – me too – but at least the lads were a lot better in that second half and got the point.

Josh has a blog  you can follow this week, as he attempts his ambitious and brave feat in aid of charity – and you can check up on how he is doing as he runs a marathon a day.

Josh will be raising funds to support two major Cancer Charities, Cancer Research UK and Dorothy House Hospice, and he hopes to raise at least £10K, and he’s almost half way there towards his target.

His fund raising link is here or by texting LTOP90 followed by the donation amount to 70070.

We’ll be supporting Josh all week, and we hope you can too.

    Nice one!

Just seen the pic with Newcastle players with “Ryan Taylor over the wall” on their backs. Nice gesture, mackems find it pathetic for some reason.

To all the wonder fans who are adamant that the squad is stronger this season than last, please go and watch the highlights .

You will see one of the few defenders we had, missing for months with an ACL knee injury; you will see another of our now scarce defenders going off with a hamstring injury.

You will see a team that was supposed to be so much stronger after a year playing together looking like they had 7 players who had met for the very first time at about 1400 this afternoon.

We were an utter abomination of a side. In the first half we couldn’t pass, we didn’t know how to defend, there were a bunch of half hearted, non committed individuals out there who were a disgrace to call themselves a team.

If it hadnt been for a bit of sublime skill by HBA, we would have lost this game and deservedly so. We were pathetic.

The chances of a successful run in the cups, or a top 6 finish in the league are non existent by today’s woeful performance. Pardew needs to face reality and get this lot on the training pitch, 6 hours a day, every day, until they learn how to control a ball, pass a ball, defend a ball.

He needs to sit down the two ends of the pantomime horse who own and run this club and replay the game, highlighting every problem their parsimonious close season has failed to address in the slim hope it might just sink in before January.

    What a load of crap.

    Good on him.

Lacklustre first half today. Lee probert? Is a rat, who thrives on being center of attention. He gave us nothing today and I’m not trying to excuse the result or players, I never normally slate the officials but he was a joke today. Villa are an annoying team, the first half they knocked lumps out of us and at the first sign of threat from us they just wasted time. No wider there was 5 minutes at the end.

Seen Ben arfa take a lot of stick for being wasteful but at least the lad shows some heart. Even on an off day he produces more than most, maybe I was caught up in the game but I rarely remember getting annoyed at him whilst I was there. Most of the fans i know who slated him wasn’t at the game so maybe they had replays or wasn’t as stressed as I. Surely Ben arfa needs a more central role now? He isn’t one to race down the line and whip a ball in, nor is Jonas anymore. Is Jonas a winger in your opinion? If not then why is he being played there? You even stick in a defensive midfield role or get him doing what a winger should do. Cabaye has looked very off, he spends more time playing deep and out of position that he has little effect on the attacking side of things. I thought he was our creative midfielder? That’s Ben arfa. Santon did well gettin forward and at the back, villa aren’t great but bent, agbonlahor, nzogbia and el mahadi? Are quite tricky. Simpson I thought was average again and I think teams see this. The whole defence was a fault for the goal but Simpson didn’t even challenge the player when the ball was lofted in. That being said I don’t condone my sarcastic applauses you idiots, I’m his biggest critic but how is that rubbish going to make him perform better? Anita did well at right back so if Simpson is genuinely injured (I have a feeling he just wanted to leave the pitch after the sarcasm) then e can slot in there. Bigirimana what a player, 18 years old but he was spreading that ball around better than anyone in the team. He is seriously a contender for a starting place after today if he can pass like that. Ba and cisse in the first half were poor, second half they won more in the air, he’ll the ball up better and did link up on occasions. They’re both good strikers but when you have an ACM playing on the wing, two defensive midfielders, a winger in Jonas who cannot cross, a full back who lifts balls in and another who is one footed then they don’t get much service. They DID work much harder in the second half and seemed to want it more.

the double post of doom. In mild response, we were ok today. better delivery abd may be a break from the ref woud have seen us right.

Its little short of fact that we have a better squad than this time last year. Then we had no Cisse, HBA was a crock and so was Ba. Cabaye was your avereahe 4 mill transfer.

Is it premature to suggest Ben Arfa might be the most gifted player ever to play for Newcastle. He seamlessly controlled the ball with his left, glided into space and stroked the ball at pace into the top right hand corner with his right. And the commentary quite rightly exclaimed “pure class”. He’s already putting together quite a list of famous strikes.

    Next match XI:

    Krul
    Perch – S.Taylor – Coloccini – Santon
    Tiote – Anita
Ben Arfa – Vuckic – Marveaux
    Ba

Subs: Harper, Williamson, Tavernier, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Obertan, Cisse

I think Vuckic and Marveaux deserve a chance with Cabaye and Cisse not at the best – I assume/would think they were the couple of players not at their best Pardew was referring to.

Our corner and free kick system doesn’t work.

Corners our players start outside the box, it never has worked!!!!!!!!

Free kicks is aim at CB and hope they head it accross goal. NEVER WORKED!

Let the players choose there own creativity

Whatever happened to support? People talking about dropping cabaye cos he’s had 3 below average games? And bringing obertan in to start? Prob the same ppl that booed when he came on last season.

We’ve had 2 hard games and a one we should’ve won, but i’d hav taken 4 pts if offered.

Just ridiculous how fickle some ‘fans’ are.

Im sick of the negative comments at the minute surrounding newcastle, we excelled last season, finished well ahead, of anywhere anyone expected, most of our star players arent upto speed yet, as they didnt have much of a pre season, cabaye, cisse and ba will come good, and we have great talent coming through in bigi, abeid, sammy, etc we have got an exciting future, i agree we could have done with bringing some more depth in some areas, but i look at the situation, as it been a great chance for our youngsters, we wont pay over the odds, we will get better as the season goes on, our dead ball play was terrible today, i have followed marveauxs career closely, he is the best set piece taker at the club, he needs to be more involved, he has great pace, and skill, and can score goals, i would like to see him start ahead of jonas for a couple of games, and see us revert back to 4-5-1/4/3/3

Those ridiculous free kicks to one player at the side of the box do not seem to work for us and then having all those players in the box is a waste.

Subdued atmosphere today and I knew it would be after losing two players on Thursday and ten not aiming anyone. Simpson going off injured and no tiote just didn’t help and then the ref and the villa players made it worse celebrating infront of the gallowgate and mouthing off. If it wasn’t for that goal hba scored it would have been very very hostile near the end

This is a Newcastle united blog where we all discuss Newcastle, if you come on a blog after a disappointing game then it’s your own fault. What was you expecting? Everyone to just dismiss the game and brush under the carpet. This for many fans is a place they can come and vent their frustrations after a bad game, If you haven’t realised that by now then more fools you.

and marveaux gives us pace skill a great pass and vision and we cant make players take first team for granted you are in it for a reason coz your the best of the squad

Pardew is a coward for trying so hard and insisting to play 442 just to accommodate Ba in a central role. He just doesn’t want to upset Ba and he is ruining everything just make him happy!! I mean get a backbone ffs!!

We were brilliant last season when we played 433 and Ba was playing on the left. We controlled games. Ben Arfa started playing better because he had more freedom and Cisse was immense. Also Cabaye played his best games for us in the 433 system; Stoke home WBA away etc…. everyone was playing better except for Ba!! He wined and spat the dummy and forced Pardew to f up the whole thing just to make him happy!!!!!!!!!!!This shouldn’t be accepted by anyone especially us fans. I’m far from happy because we have the potential to do so much better but out manager is acting like an idiot. Prove me wrong I dare you.

Every time I see Rodgers he is sat down looking close to tears, Gerard is getting on a bit and won’t be there to lead them on much longer. Will they break the top four again? Can’t see it happening any time soon.

Great block by bigirimana today at one point in the game. I know it’s only 3 games in but on current form we would finish with just under 52 points which last season saw joint 8th place. We have to remember we have played two teams last season who finished 4th and 6th, we’re 3 points down on the same results from last season but last season was a great season and I’m sure we could make those up elsewhere

ashton i agree totally, 4-3-3 suits our players, cabaye is at his best in a 4-3-3, as it allows him to use his passing ability, and get forward, and not have to think about defending asmuch, today cabaye was further back that bigi at times, which isnt right, its like playing xavi as a holding midfielder, he might aswell not be playing, cabaye played at lille in a 4-3-3, it suits him, and he’s at his best, we look best with 1 central striker, rather than 2 up top, we miss tiote, as he allows cabaye to get forward and create
