Pardew Worried About The Form Of Cisse And Demba Ba

Alan Pardew has been talking about the form of his strikers before today’s game with Aston Villa at home, a game we have won these last two seasons, but of course we’ve only had two league games so far,  and Demba Ba scored that great goal in the first game against Tottenham, and Papiss Cisse has still to score. So there’s no real need for too much concern – not yet anyway.

Demba Ba – one goal so far this season

It’s a pity that the two Senegal lads have been out of form, at least so far, because we have very little back-up in the striker department, and we have Shola Ameobi and Adam Campbell (we suppose) as the other strikers, although Haris Vukic could also play as a withdrawn striker up front, as can Sammy Ameobi and gabby Obertan.

Alan Pardew addressed the form of the strikers yesterday:

“I think both Papiss and Demba have been under par.” “If we can beat Villa, those two guys then go away for Ivory Coast-Senegal, which is a massive game for this club.”

“If Senegal end up going through and we lose those two strikers, it’s going to worry me.” “Then, in the next transfer window we’re going to have to do something about it.”

“But in the short term, their form has not been good in the few games they’ve played, and I’m asking for a lot better against Villa.” “I think they know I’ve got enough tactical options to make them worry.”

“Cisse got that great goal against Villa and both were on the score-sheet. It’s not often that they score in the same game, so maybe lightning will strike twice, with a bit of luck!”

Newcastle have realized that if Senegal win the play-off game against the Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations, then we’ll be without our top two strikers from early January, but why didn’t we think of that over the summer, and bring in at least one striker to replace Leon Best and Peter Lovenkrands?

We wonder if Alan was stopped from bringing in too many players this summer, because the squad is still very thin in strikers and in center-backs, but we knew that last May, so it’s disappointing nobody was brought in – other then Curtis Good – to fill those two gaps.

We need the win today, and with fans a little disappointed at what Newcastle were able to achieve in the summer transfer window, a win is definitiely what the doctor ordered, and if both Cisse and Demba Ba can also score today – that would be the icing on the cake.

Howay The Lads!!

That will be the team today.
If we aren’t winning by about 70 minutes, can anybody see pards bringing obertan and marveaux on? (marveaux for game time and obertan as a kind of reward and too push on from his good form the other day)?

I fancy 4-1 today with cisse first goal.

Who else thinks this premier league is the best ever. After watching mod last night there is no doubt even the so called lesser teams have some cracking players playing good football. Stoke and the mackems apart of course 😉

Yeah Conaldo (The Wizard), I think that would be a good game plan. No way is jonast jonas gonna get dropped but I can see him and marveaux sharing that left hand side role this season

Why worry about Ba and Cisse. Ba has already scored and Cisse only really hit for 2nd half of his season, plus they’ve had the whole summer off with little playing time. The boys will come good!

No need to worry. Ba was awful when he first came last season due to Ramadan. Now that has passed and they have both been eating they should have a bit more energy. Ba was great once Ramadan ended last season and cisse has scored goals wherever he has played on a consistent basis (even at Freiburg battling relegation). Cisse has never scored a club hat trick in his career but I see that coming sometime this season. I think it’s a bit dramatic for people to start worrying about our front 2. Give it a month or 2 and if still struggling then begin to worry

I would give them a hour together today as it will be 442 then change it to 433 if no goals. I would try Obertan up front for his direct runs and pace with either BA or CIsse with HBA in a free role. Cabaye,Anita and Jonas tucked in for a central 3. We only tend to play 442 at home and 433 away sometimes as mainly sitting deep in midfield it’s 451.

Yeah, that’s interesting, it hadn’t occurred to me that they might be vulnerable to complacency. I guess one of AP’s options is to play 433 and let them fight it out for the single central strikers role. What else can he do. I love Strola, but his fitness is a problem, although when he has been fit in recent seasons he has often been top drawer and very physically imposing.

Davybtoon – I’m pretty sure Stoke took him on trial and they deemed him not good enough, he’s also more of a natural CB so I’ve read.
Anyway If he’s not good enough for StOke he’s not good enough for us, simple as that.

If the aim is a ECL spot, then we can’t wait a month or two. You have to hit the ground running and keep it up all season.

As much as i appreciate anyones right to freedom of religion i dont think players should be paid if they choose to participate in ramadan. They are choosing to make themselves weaker and far less use to the team. Its like me saying im going to go on the p*ss for a month. Same result. Was the same last year. Only positive is i think it might happen sooner next year and probably be ok for the start of the season.
