Unchanged Newcastle Side Against Villa – Tiote Still Injured

Alan Pardew has named an unchanged side from the one that lost 2-0 to Chelsea last weekend, for this afternoon’s important game at St. James’ Park against pointless Aston Villa, who are currently anchored at the bottom of the Premier League.

Vurnon Anita again deputizes for the Ivory Coast International,  who we assume will not be available for the African Cup of Nations playoff tie against Senegal during the International break – we hope.

Gael Bigirimana, Gabriel Obertan and Sylvain Marveaux, who were all impressive on Thursday night in the 1-0 win against Atrmotis, make the bench for this game.

For Aston Villa, former Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given only makes the bench,  with American Brad Guzan in goal, and Stephen Ireland, who was on loan at Newcastle and played a few games, starts the game for Villa.

We’ve got to get the win today.

Howay The Lads!!

Teams:

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Tim Krul; Danny Simpson, Steven Taylor, Fabricio Coloccini (c), Davide Santon; Hatem Ben Arfa, Yohan Cabaye, Vurnon Anita, Jonas Gutierrez; Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse
Substitutes: Steve Harper, Mike Williamson, Dan Gosling, Gael Bigirimana, Romain Amalfitano, Gabriel Obertan, Sylvain Marveaux

Aston Villa (4-4-2): Brad Guzan; Matthew Lowton, Ron Vlaar, Ciaran Clark, Eric Lichaj; Brett Holman, Karim El Ahamadi, Stephen Ireland, Barry Bannan; Andreas Weimann, Darren Bent
Substitutes: Shay Given, Nathan Baker, Derrick Williams, Graham Burke, Charles N’Zogbia, Jordan Bowery, Gabriel Agbonlahor

having looked at the starting line up does it not give people the feeling that even CM is short for us if we wanting 4-5-1/4-2-3-1 or will pardew just insist on using both dembas most games.

Apart for Tiote thats our strongest starting 11, will be good for Anita to get another game under his belt

Shame Tiote’s out but hopefully Anita will be good cover and a shame there’s no recognised striker on the bench.

Toon win though, Cabaye to score Belfast 😉

Would have liked to have see young Campbell get a place on the bench seeing as we have no striker option

Arsenal have won against Liverpool with effectively 10 men – Giroud is awful.

if they on the bench but then i can’t see them cable enough of first team because surely most managers would rather we rest ba today as he played midweek and have not got a forward on the bench.

A good game for cisse to break his duck for the season. Another top corner rocket would do the job nicely. Hope we go out all guns blazing instead of taking the opposition lightly.

Villa have been awful. Once again i wish to see a game where we actually have a decent amount of domination. It’s been a long while. Even at home against poor clubs we have been battered for far too long. Before each home game, i feel optimistic to see long spells of our play.

It all goes down the drain the moment the game starts. Will today be the same?

At least ‘fool can take comfort in Allen’s pass cmpletion percentage, I mean that’s what matters right? 😉

Funny how they have virtually no way of switching styles and tactics, with their second Carroll debacle.

If we can get big bucks, I wouldn’t be averse to selling Tiote in one of the next few windows and getting a replacement, just not on the field enough over the course of a season, in my opinion.

Guzan, Lowton, Vlaar, Clark, Lichaj, Holman, El Ahmadi, Ireland, Bannan, Weimann, Bent. Subs: Given, Baker, Agbonlahor, N’Zogbia, Burke, Bowery, Williams
    ———

Clark is available and is starting in defence. Nzog and Agbonlahor on the bench. might make things uneasy for us.

Im less worried by our lack of spending compared to Pardew’s perseverence with 4-4-2.

Not sure how anyone knows its 4-4-2 today tho, surely they only hand in the teamsheet of players selected and dont mention the formation? Those players could easily play 4-2-3-1 or whatever.
