It’s a real pity that Yohan Cabaye’s free kick, with just about 30 seconds to go in the game yesterday, didn’t go in to give Newcastle the win, because things would be a lot different today, but goalkeeper Guzon made a good save and it means Newcastle have made only an average start to the season, with a very tough game at Everton in two weeks time, next on the agenda.
Alan Pardew being interviewed after the game last night
Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse, Yohan Cabaye and others haven’t looked at their best in the first three league games of the season, and all three of them will now be off to play two games for their countries during the two week International break.
Alan Pardew is saying that players these days play too much football, which is one possible cause of the poor form shown so far this season, and this is what Alan Pardew told the local press today:
“Some of our players are not bang in form but when you’re playing a bit more than 11 months a year, some players, it’s too much football really.” “We’re going to have to rest them here and there and get them back to form.”
We wouldn’t be at all surprised if Alan Pardew changes things around for the game at Everton, and we’d be surprised if both Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba start that game.
The Newcastle manager may even have to revert to a 4-3-3 formation, which worked well earlier this year, with Demba Ba on the left wing, although he didn’t particularly like playing there.
Nothing goes well all the time in life or in football, as we all know only too well, but it’s a manager’s job to pinpoint what the problems are in the team and solve them – that’s why they get the big bucks – and that’s what Alan Pardew’s job is right now at Newcastle.
It’s been a bit of a disappointing start to the season, but we shouldn’t overdo it either – our position is nothing that a couple of wins cannot quickly put right.
Maybe we can even win at Everton – that would help things big time!

Comment #2Stick Ba back out on the left it’s that simple. If it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it and that 433 definitely was not broken.

Comment #3Just realised we have nothing constructive to discuss for the next 2 weeks. Shall we ban the following topics for some peace?
– 4-3-3 vs 4-4-2
– Clubs Ambition
– Ashley & Llambias
– Accounts
– Ba Vs. Cisse
Hmmm….So then, what’s left to discuss? Of our stripes, which do you prefer the black or the white? 😉

Comment #4So Anita is our new RB, we are utter pony, Jonas can’t start for us anymore, Ba is ruining our team, HBA can not be criticized, our players all want to leave because of agents, Pards can’t manage for toffee, Cabs has lost it and Cashley is the Devil reborn once more….I miss anything?

Comment #9Nice to have you back Jesper – your sound and informative posts have been missed.
It’s been a rough few days on the blog as I’m sure you are aware of, transfer window and yesterday’s game pushing many over the edge. Screaming for Ba to get injured, simmo to be BADLY injured and Cabaye to be sold!
It’s been madness mate but hoping all has calmed now and cooler heads have prevailed.

Comment #12For Everton I think we’ll see a fitter Cabaye! He virtually had no preseason remember! Would love to see 4-3-3, if simmo is out play Santon right bk, Anita left back. Would LOVE to see Tiote and Bigi play together with cabaye just in front! Then would play Marveaux and Ben arfa either side of Ba who’s looked sharper than cisse!

Comment #13Yo…I suppose that doesn’t normally stop us 🙂
Davy….Indeed. Once again, it can be seen as a “missed opportunity”, but most will see it as us going backwards in to a World we can never return from.
Jay…..Wasn’t Williamson pitch forked to death Friday night?

Comment #15It was awful last night – couldn’t believe people wanting our own players to be injured! I thought Simpson was great yesterday until he got injured. People give him such a hard time unnecessarily I think.
We definately need a big win to keep the numpties away. I definitely think they only come on here when there’s something to complain about.
And williamson was awful yesterday btw. I saw him shift in his seat right before the goal and the squeak made Taylor and colo both turn away from Clark when they should have marked him and then he scored. Williamson out!

Comment #16Oh balls aye damnit Mike Williamson! I heard he kicked a baby in the face because it sneezed.
Commentators were begging for him to come on when Simmo went off then decided that Bigi was going to move to RB haha clearly had no idea where the lad played

Comment #23Hi Torq my good friend 🙂
…it is always sad when ppl start doing that; isn’t it strange how some only keep perspektive or show support when we are on top?
Cisse is in a slumb right now and we need to get him on fire, but my concern is Cabaye who clearly is down and out and 4-4-2 is clearly not working wonders for him 🙂

Yeah I really don’t understand that line of thought Ba has looked very good so far imo and Cisse looks like he didn’t get a pre season and is returning from illness. If I were to drop one of them it’d be Cisse no question atm

Comment #32I think the inability of Ba and Cisse to work well together is a concern in terms of Pardew’s judgement. He wade an interesting comment there that people havent picked up on – “when we get three or four more like him” ……some chance Pards mate. Your boss wouldnt even get you a full back or centre half, despite all the MA fans telling those of us who worried that we had “all summer” to get players in , no patience etc. Its time I moved on from my frustrations with Ashely’s lack of ambition, but i certainly hope some of the happy clappies have learned something in the last few weeks.

Comment #34I think Pardew must have dreamt MA had splashed some dosh on Carroll!
And reverted to the long ball game yesterday.
Everytime we got the ball in Villas half iot was like a hot potato, and humped into their box!
Guzan had a field day just pick the ball out the air!
Or maybe he got the team to do it deliberatley, to prove a point 😉

Maybe so but he doesn’t want to play there which will cause a lot of issues. We have Simmo, Perch, Raylor and Tav who can play there when fit Anita will hit the roof if he is left to play there is my bet

Comment #36Munster….Great example of opinions 🙂 I read that not as when we sign 3 or 4 more like him, but when the rest of our players that we have pick up form.
’In training, he is our best player and on the pitch, he is our best player at the minute.”
“When we get three or four like that, we are a really, really good side. Unfortunately, we haven’t at the moment, we have got one or two just below that.”
Notice he says “we are a really, really good side”. Wouldn’t make sense if he was talking about players he wants to get in.
Torq….After Friday, it seemed the best approach would be to let them have their time and tire themselves out. Bless them, all of that anger has been building up for about a year and it’s really the first chance they’ve had.

Comment #40If somebody bids £40 for HBA he will be sold ! And we will reinvest that money wisely. Just as we did with the AC Money.
Unfortunately we are not into the ‘big club’ status yet so will always need to sell if big money bids come in.
