Oh No – Coloccini Injured – Misses Argentine Game

This is about the worst news we could have received this week – that Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini has picked up a muscle strain in training with the Argentine squad.

Fabricio Coloccini – has muscle strain in right leg

The muscle strain is in his right leg, and that’s the second time Fab has been injured this season, and he usually misses very few games with injury – maybe age is catching up with him?

The news coming through is that he is currently under observation for the injury, but news is that he will now miss the game on Friday night against Paraguay.

It would be best if he could return back to Newcastle, since it would seem a little foolhardy to risk him in the next game on Tuesday night against Peru.

But the news is the 30 year-old will stay with the squad and have a fitness test before the game on Tuesday night.

The replacement who has been brought into the Argentine squad is defender Leandro Desábato from Estudiantes de La Plata.

We’d like to see Fabricio back on Tyneside – getting fit for the very important Everton game.

This may be the chance Tav gets at CB as he says he can play there.

Hopefully he will be ok by the time we play our next game otherwise I am happy enough with Perch replacing Collo. Perch is improving every game and did good with Saylor against Tottenham.

Well Big Mikes gamble is starting to look like a huge mistake no less than a month into the season.

    Raylor crocked long term
Tiote has missed two games and counting
Simpson could be out for a while
Collo injured for the second time this season
    Shola Still injured
    Sammy could be back soon
    Fergusson injured

Have I missed anyone ? . I know people said “oh well we kept all our best players this window” . That counts for nothing if they are frequently injured FFS

Perch is no replacement for Colo, look at what happened against tottenham last year. This is a disaster, our defense falls apart without him.

Yup, all those optimists who said ‘stick with Mike’ and ‘be happy for small mercies’, when I wondered why we didn’t make a serious effort to get Debuchy, another CB and another striker when we had the chance, the chickens are coming home to roost now.
But Mashley loves to spin the wheel and outsmart the house. Economise by all means but we are 4 players short of a full senior squad and that looks like failing to prepare for a season in 4 competitions. But what do I know?

    @gaza
So you think Tav is redy for CB?
Felliani or whatever his name is would eat him for breakfast when we play Everton.
Perch or Willo will have to play alongside Sayls
Collo was brilliant the other day, shame these niggles turn up and disrupt a players rhythm for the games ahead.
Hope Fergie is back soon as that’d also help a lot

No one turned up at tottenham
You can’t blame that on perch like!
He was excellent in several games there last season

Xisco can always stand in for him,he doesn’t get a chance as a striker so maybe they can turn him into a Cb? 😉

Ok,I get that but he’s in no way ready by the looks of things.
He was found wanting big time in the Europa league against an average team.
The pl is a big step for him but they need o get experience somehow, who knows.
We will have to see what cards AP will play.

Can’t we get someone on loan as the loan market is still open I think!!

This is bad news if Coloccini is injured as does not bode well for the next few games. Hopefully the international break will facilitate our injured players getting back to full fitness again.
Whilst there has been some recent doom and gloom on the blog in retrospect I think many fans, including myself, were swept away with the possibility of getting some, three, first team signings -especially after the club said as much. What most of us forgot about is the club policy of quite low bids and not being “mugged” by other clubs. Clearly if the price is not right we walk away -maybe to return in January. Ashley clearly will not veer away from policy regardless as to who a potential signing may be. In my recent excitement I forgot about all this stuff and was sure we would be signing De Jong, Debuchy and Douglas in the summer. Apparently we are ahead of our plan -because of our surprise top 5 finish -so I can see the logic of Ashley not veering away from it despite the fact he too would probably see that those three possible signings would make our team much better. Clearly the plan is to buy cheap(ie our valuation) and to progress the youngsters. Success will be that magical period when the bulk of the first teamers have reached that point when they are all at the top of their individual games at one period of time. At the risk of being accused of being a “negger” that will not be this season, in my opinion. I withdraw my previous hope/aspiration/prediction that we would finish fourth. I foresee a difficult game with Everton (one of our bogey teams) and believe that we will not be able to subdue Fellani -unless Tiote can do the business on him.

whod’ have thought Raylor, Perchinho and Colo would have all happened within three weeks of the window ending. Just goes to show that the high risk strategy of of signing CB cover which we all knew about is being exposed every quickly.

Let’s hope Colo will be okay for Everton or that Tav proves himself. All we need now is for Saylor to get another injury…. Mind you it even happens to ‘big’ clubs like Manure… they’re a bit short in central defence too

No way we want willo in he’s a bit of a liability imo. Perch is fine unless up against a beast of a centre forward. If collo is having fitness test its obviously not too bad. Hopefully he just fails and comes home. Think we will bring in a striker in Jan if Senegal qualify but stick with what we haveohave otherwise. I’d like to see hba given a chance if we are short up top. Not sure how he would get on with back to goal but would be fun to watch

Deine Irony….start of summer identify a CB and RB as key areas in need of strengthening, MIke Ashley tightens his already tight ass purse and puppet Pardew says he is happy with the “strength in depth” of the squad …..then 3 games into new season and we see injuries to our best CB, RB, as well as the two back ups in RT and JP.
We deserve this for the fact Ashley is a prik
