Spanish Powerhouse Linked With Newcastle’s Tim Krul

There are reports coming out of Italy and Spain today that powerhouse Barcelona have their sights set on signing Newcastle’s Dutch International 24 year-old goalkeeper Tim Krul.

Tim Krul – linked with Barcelona today

With some of Newcastle’s players coming through really strongly last season, we suppose it’s only natural that some of our top players are targets for some of the top clubs, and that certainly seemed true in the summer transfer window, and Alan Pardew verified there were some big bids came in for some of our top players near the end of August.

But as always we take the vast majority of these reports with a pinch of salt, although we suppose some of them could even be true – maybe.

There are reports coming out of Spain that are reported in Italian news source TuttoMercato, and the news is that Barcelona want cover for current number one goalkeeper Victor Valdes, and the player they seem to like a lot is our very own Tim Krul.

We suppose it’s even a good sign that top clubs want our players, because at least it means we have some top players at the club, but to think that Tim Krul would go to Barcelona to back up Victor Valdes is a little ludicrous.

Valdes is probably a weakness at the Spanish powerhouse, but we don’t think our top Dutch International goalkeeper will be going anywhere soon.

Tim had become a Dutch Geordie since he arrived on the banks of the River Tyne as a 17 year-old back in the summer of 2005, and he has accomplished two of his top dreams in football – to become the Newcastle number one goalkeeper and the Dutch number one goalkeeper.

Now he wants to keep those positions for at least the nest 10 years, and we expect Tim to even improve from his form of last season, and certainly his temperament and attitude are simply first class.

Tim is an excellent example of Newcastle getting in a young and talented player, and then developing them until they are world class.

Now we need to do that for a few more players over the next couple of seasons. 😀

Howay The Lads!!

Rest assured, some nugget on here, much like Steve Wraith will come on here saying there’s a big unrest in the squad.
Even after Cabaye, who’s supposedly one of them, never even mentions new players in any respect.
Harper says spirits are up, AP says it, Tiote says it.
Cause if it wasn’t, they wouldn’t even mention spirit.

So, bring it on band of misfits who wants the camp to tear apart.

Morning Jesp. How are you sir? On Barkley, Yes he has gone to Sheffield wed on loan and I believe will thrive there! He is going to be something special in a couple seasons time.

I believe we can (even with key players out!) do a job tonight. It’s time for our top players to show why they ARE top players!! Already excited ! Love match days!!

Morning Torq it’s been a while 🙂 nice to see you again on the blog.

Barkley is going to be somthing special isn’t he 🙂 for me probably England’s biggest midfield talent.

I am ready for tonite and just hope Pardew is not affraid to take a new approach to the game; we have key players out and sometimes that means new opportunities arises 😉

Lets put a 50Mil price tag on Kruls head !

At Barca he would only be a bench warmer anyway!

This is an extremely worrying rumour!

Good morning all – Whilst I think a draw would be a reasonable result, I just feel that the team will click tonight and we will come home with a 2-1 win!!

A nice start to the week!!!

Jesp – took a little time out mate! Too many people on here on a downer and I can’t be dealing with people like that! 🙂

I agree…Pards needs to be be brave, go with the right formation for what we have available! Everton will be expecting a standard 442 formation, yet with a 5 man midfield, any team struggles to get to grips with it, especially with the quality we have there. Marv has to start IMO. He is 2nd only in excitement to HBA and brings something different to the team!

I’m dreading an under par performance and the arrival of all the trolls and negativity again, but I guess being part of the toon army never has been a walk in the park ! 🙂

Graeme – that would set the week off nicely! Love the positivity!

Expat – As worrying as it may seem, I can’t see Timmy leaving to be 2nd choice at any club. But if Barca come in and bid an amount of money that we simply couldn’t turn down, and the deal was right for Krul also, you couldn’t blame the lad for going. Biggest team in the world comes knocking…!

We would take the money and invest it into our next crop of young players and the NEXT up and coming goalkeeper. But do not worry, this is most likely just filler for the daily rags!

If a sensible offer came in from Barca, and if Tim felt he could be No. 1 there, we couldn’t really stand in his way.

Torq…no that would definitely be an under-statement 😉 lol

I am sure if we underperform tonite the trolls and the doom and gloom mongers will come out from their hiding, that’s how it is sadly…

I don’t mind constructive criticism hell I will give the team that if I am not happy with what I see (win or no win), but we need to keep perspective of things as well. Everton are a really good team and they will give most opponents a run for it this season.

I never get it right with tactics – the silver supremo and I don’t see eye to eye on that part (but hi he was voted best manager last season so…I’ll give he the benefit of a doubt) but I do hope we wil approach the game a bit differently than our usual 4-4-2. I wouldn’t mind a variant of 4-5-1 with Benny as an ACM and Cabs as a deep lying playmaker 🙂

just chucked a fiver on Ben Arfa first goal! (Also on ben arfa anytime scorer and newcastle by 1) Howay the lads!

we could finish 15th this season you know!
or we could finish 3rd or 4th!! Anything can happen in football! In the long run, if we are selling our top players so Ashley can have profit, we aint gonna make champions league anytime soon!! It’s good the club is running at a profit, if we spent big bucks to keep our good players, we’d be happy there too with winning results, like games at Everton.

Hard to commit an emotional response, happy the club is running a profit, but sad we don’t expect to beat Everton 😐

When you consider the Dutch connection at Barcelona, it’s not too farfetched. Hope it isnt true.
