    Has to be shola!

  • 2 rainrix // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:23 PM

We seriously need to sort out this slow start lark. Every game this season we’ve been terrible in the 1st half and then in the 2nd actually played like ourselves. If we could do that then we would win games not just scrap draws

  • 3 MagpiesFlyHigh // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:24 PM

Has to be Williamson…just to annoy Kets who hates him with a fury unknown to normal supporters.
Neve seen any fan who hates so many players as much as Kets…

Normally i take you with a pinch of salt but cant anymore your a sad little tw@ who does nothing but slate our players get fcuked you sad bellend

  • 5 toonking // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:25 PM

formation is not the problem with us, it is lack of forward play at times think back to last year against QPR 1-0 win 1 shot on target aston villa draw apart from HBA who else was going forward in midfield
everton first half today very little forward play should have been 3-0 down but then came the second half and a total differance with ba and cisse both staying forward HBA getting the help from cabaye while anita and perch rotate positions
    formation 4-2-1-3.

  • 6 JTOONJ // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:25 PM

Think ba should start cisse for europe. Ba and shola for me at next prem game!

  • 7 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:26 PM

You’re all missing the point. It’s not a matter of systems, it’s a matter of our overly cautious approach in first-halves that’s our defect. We need to recognise in which games we should go toe-to-toe from the off, we were never going to ‘control’ this match tonight; as a result of us going into it with that mindset and attempting to feel our way in, we were swept up and left ragged by their hurricane of energy.

AP needs to have faith in the players to go and damage teams from the off, instead of being too conservative. I want them straining at the leash to gobble teams up and spit them out, there’s too much respect shown to inferior teams – Norwich is a perfect opportunity for that.

  • 8 toonking // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:26 PM

MOTM ba with willo a close second.

  • 9 nick_9 // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:27 PM

So do we prefer Anita at rb? And perch in midfield? Very good second half from the lads. On chances alone we could of had five goals but in reality so could they and we all know about the two ruled out.

Ba showed tonight and against tottenham that he is a massive player for us. If him and cisse could develop a partnership we would be lethal. Ba and shola linked up better for that goal than cisse and Ba all season. If we could
Get them both scoring imagine how happy they would be. Ben arfa was wasteful but we all know what he is capable of, the majority of the time he would have scored that chance or squared te ball better to cisse or Ba late on.

Williamson, not a fan but when you consider what he had to deal with tonight he did well. Anichebe’s goal was a good goal, he did well to make space and shoot. Their first goal I would have liked to have seen Harper get down a bit quicker

  • 11 toonking // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:28 PM

well ruddy not every one is missing that point because that post i just made was all about how poor forward play has been our problem.

  • 12 lukes26 // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:28 PM

    oh, no, sorry.

    the correct answer was

    1. ba…who else
    2. williamson (an assist, past the goal line clearance, and thoroughly pissing off Fellaini is worthy of 2nd prize for me)
    3. ameobi ..brilliant sub appearance

  • 13 MagpiesFlyHigh // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:28 PM

Disagree… you’re confusing playing badly with poor tactics.

For sure its annoying we can’t play really well for two consecutive halves… but that is a lack of consistency not necessarily bad tactics

  • 14 Spreadthetoon // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:29 PM

    re-post from previous thread
Remember we are missing Krul, Tiote and Collo – our most defensive and best equipped players in their positions. Getting a point out of this game is massive. Good to hear AP acknowledge that the 1st half was the worst he’d seen since he’s been in charge. AP – btw when you play 4-5-1 pls do NOT play two defensive midfielders UNLESS you have Tiote and Anita and its against one of the top 4. Lets not sell ourselves short against teams like everton where we are able to get all 3 points!

  • 15 toonking // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:29 PM

well nick do you regret us not bringing in carroll.

  • 16 gaz 44 // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:29 PM

    marv wa very poor today

  • 17 Jonny // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:30 PM

PERCH< TAYLOR AND BA WERE TOP CLASS! fair play to anita santon and harper though.

  • 18 gaz 44 // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:32 PM

Taylor was better than Williamson in my opinion today. didn’t think either did much wrong but we was just over run in the midfield . and perch looked out of depth at right back. east helped by marv thou

  • 19 Jonny // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:32 PM

Take Howard, Jagielka and Fellaini out of their team and see if they can put in the performance that we did in that second half! Fully deserved it, proud of the lads tonight!

  • 20 rainrix // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:32 PM

To be fair to marv no one was good in the 1st we just needed a change and marv was the fall guy

  • 21 CAToon // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:33 PM

Great to see the intensity of the players. Closing down opponents, keeping a good defensive line, and showing good form on the ball. The team of last year is starting to emerge….

  • 22 nick_9 // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:33 PM

I don’t regret us not bringing in Carroll because who knows if he would have made a good partnership with either of our current strikers? None of us know, it’s all guess work.

We don’t know what they do in training but I wonder if there is anything else we could do with cisse and Ba to make them link up better. It was refreshing to see some urgency for the full second half and not the last ten minutes like the season we went down

  • 23 BelfastMagpie // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:34 PM

The amount of times we hoof it to nobody is the biggest problem.

It worked in the second half 2nite

But the amount of times we give the ball back to the other team, through hoofing it,is a joke.

  • 24 JP...from The Rock // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:35 PM

Demba Ba without a doubt. Santon played well, HBA showed some flashes, Anita some nice passes and Cabaye woke up in the second half. But the award goes to Demba for me. He completely turned the game on it’s head. Great second half to the match.

  • 25 tequilamag // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:35 PM

Love to hear Ashtons analysis of the merits of 442 433 systems. Perhaps he would also like to share his thoughts on Pardews management skills.
God knows what he said at half time to generate that kind of improvement.

  • 26 FatmanJoe // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:35 PM

We missed so many players today and our lads stepped up in the second half.

Thought Williamson was excellent considering how much pressure everton put on tonight.

  • 27 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:36 PM

There’s always a reason players don’t play to their ability (badly). When it’s the entire team collectively in whole halves, it suggests there’s a fundamental issue – namely tempo and aggression in our case – we’re often caught cold in first halves. I’m not confusing anything.

  • 28 josh // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:39 PM

In response to Ketsbia on his constant willo whining, your an utter mong, I’m starting to believe you spent most of your childhood being raped by an uncle. I hope you go on an arctic expedition and get frost bite in all your fingers you absolute deluded mong. I really resent the fact your father chose the hairy axe wound over a hand shandy that fateful night.

  • 29 Szarka // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:39 PM

From this time Anita is better RB then Perch, so he must start as a RB, and Perc h should play as a CDM .

  • 30 toonking // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:39 PM

in the end like it is just amatter of opinion only idiots like kets r stupid and well we won’t know how much a differance he might be so yeh we stick with who we have at the end of the day i now believe it is only poor forward play the we have until we go a goal down because it has happened in all our games in the league this season.

  • 31 Toonacious T // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:39 PM

Great result tonight all things considered. Thought Anita did well defensively but did anyone else notice that he hoofed the ball everytime it fell to his feet, not exactly the teachings of the Ajax academy. I think it is gonna take a while for him to adjust to how little time he has on the ball in this league. If Simmo had of had the same standard of distribution as Anita did tonight he would have got slaughtered.

  • 32 abbo // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:41 PM

All i can say is 1 word, 2 syllables, starts with D & ends with D & the second syllable is head!!!!!

  • 33 YorkshiresFinestGeordie // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:42 PM

Demba Ba, best player in 2nd half, but all round Steven Taylor for me.

  • 34 nico // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:42 PM

I think Anita is probably better at right back than centre mid. I lke Perch there, he’s very quick to close players down and his passing is improving well.

  • 35 nico // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:44 PM

I think Saylor played well tonight but I think he’ll be dissapointed in the Everton second goal. I thought he dropped to deep and allowed Anichebi to turn to easily. If Willo had done that, what would Kespia7 be saying now.

  • 36 nico // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:45 PM

    I mean Ketsbaia9 not 7

  • 37 croftus5678 // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:45 PM

oh dear oh dear oh dear lol
pards changed team to accomadate ba and why do we play 442 where the things people was crying about before the match on the blog if i recall lol
but joking aside we were lucky and very poor in 1st half and just so i can put the boot in to those saying ba should be moved to the wing or dumped on bench cisse again missed easy chances which surely shows ba should be main man up front atleast till cisse hits form.
second half we were great though perch anita and it even pains me to say willo ect all played brill arfa had a bad game but cabaye on form so mixed bag in all but good result for us considering

  • 38 Graeme // Sep 17, 2012 at 10:58 PM

It certainly wouldnt be Harper; He was so far off his game, at times it was frightening!! He is obviously not match fit and looking positively rusty!!!

He needs a wake-up, thats for sure. 18 months ago he would have stopped the 2nd goal!!

  • 39 Brutooon // Sep 17, 2012 at 11:04 PM

    1) Anita is better as right back. At DM he is LOST.

    2) Perch did well as DM. control the midfield well in the 2nd half

    3) It is only one half but marveax might be Overrated as what some fans think

    4) Demba Ba should start from now on. Maybe bench Cisse for some match (just to rest him etc)

  • 40 CisseIsALegend // Sep 17, 2012 at 11:10 PM

The publicity the disallowed goal is getting is absolutely ridiculous. If they showed the “foul” that led to the free kick that made the goal you actually see that santon does nothing wrong. Tabs what on earth does the ref think he’s doing when he doesn’t give advantage when Ben Arfa is through on goal…

I agree with Graeme on the second goal. maybe its just Harpers old age caught up to him or he is just rusty. but that was in my opinion very poor goalkeeping. he didn’t even react which i find if Krul was in goal. he would have saved that. or at least made the reaction to save it

  • 43 toonincheek // Sep 18, 2012 at 12:09 AM

    Cisse –
Absolutely. I’ve been going nthrough all the posts and no-one has mentioned it.
Justice done (although we should have defended better from the free kick)

  • 44 PapissSmurf // Sep 18, 2012 at 12:48 AM

Thought AP deserved credit for bringing BA on (obviously) but also putting Perch in the middle. He was more physical than Anita with Fellani, who up until then was bossing the midfield.

  • 45 FatmanJoe // Sep 18, 2012 at 6:46 AM

Yea thought that was great. Perch showed real determination against one of the best players in the league at the mo.
