Cisse, Ba, Anita And Perch All Start Against Canaries

There’s not too much of a surprise with the side Alan Pardew has picked today for the game against Norwich, and it shows 7 changes from the side that started on Thursday night against Maritimo, but it’s the side we had expected, in our match preview.

Steve Harper returns in goal, James Perch is at right back and Vurnon Anita comes in as the defensive midfielder, and Ben Arfa  and Jonas Gutierrez are back on the wings, with the Senegal strikers Demba Ba and Papiss Cisse up front.

Cheick Tiote returns to the squad on the bench, and he joins the Ameobi brothers, and the impressive Gael Bigirimana, who had another excellent display for the Magpies in Madeira.

Former Newcastle center-back Sebastien Bassong starts for Norwich this afternoon.

Newcastle will play in their usual 4-4-2 formation and the fans have a chance to welcome back Chris Hughton to St. James’ Park and thank him for everything he did for Newcastle, along with his Assistant manager Colin Calderwood.

Newcastle United (4-4-2): Steve Harper; James Perch, Mike Williamson, Steven Taylor, Davide Santon; Hatem Ben Arfa, Vurnon Anita, Yohan Cabaye, Jonas Gutierrez (c); Papiss Cisse, Demba Ba
Substitutes: Rob Elliot, James Tavernier, Gael Bigirimana, Cheick Tiote, Sammy Ameobi, Gabriel Obertan, Shola Ameobi

Norwich (4-5-1): John Ruddy; Russell Martin (c), Sebastien Bassong, Leon Barnett, Javier Garrido; Robert Snodgrass, Bradley Johnson, Jonny Howson, Andrew Surman, Wes Hoolahan; Steve Morison
Substitutes: Mark Bunn, Michael Turner, Ryan Bennett, Alexander Tettey, Anthony Pilkington, Grant Holt, Simeon Jackson

Referee: Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire)

Best team we could expect tbh considering injuries, Europe etc. Hoping for a good display by us and a win ofc.

Welcome back to Hoots, hope he gets a good reception, he certainly deserves one.

and ‘Pool down to 10 mean after 40 mins lmao.

ToonAndy…that looks like a great lineup, but would have thought it be a more conventionel 4-4-2 😉

when Torres and Carroll signed for Chelsea and Pool respectively, some fans created Has Torres scored and Has Carroll scored websites, with the only content of each being “NO”… think its about time to make a Have Liverpool won website lmao

Been too long since Hoots was in St James Park

Should be a tidy match all things considered wonder if we will turn up in the first 45 or do the standard 2nd half performance

We haven’t given anyone a thumping score wise for over a year, it’s long past due.
This is a match where we should manage that.
And happy to see Hughton back at St. James 🙂

Aye evans went in hard the only difference for me, and i know im not a ref, is that although evans went in fast his feet were on the ground, shelvy was well over the ball and ran his studs basically up his whole leg
Also disgracful behaviour leaving the pitch idiot that lad!

Ah well who cares about the bin dippers lets bag 3 points today and give hoots the welcome home he deserves

Need to play well in the first half today, have been crap every first half so far this season. If we start well we can win, if we dont then its another scrap on our hands.

Nearly October, bowt time we actually put in a good performance as I havent seen one from us yet over 90 mins.

    hi ppl
i’m looking forward to the game today, hoping we are agressive from the start i like the team alough i might prefer anita as FB and perch DCM i don’t care too much about formation all i want to see is aggressive play from the start and lots of goals.

    as dannyo says
we have not give teams a thumping since pardew arrived which is making us look like a team that belongs in the low half of the table which we are not.

    @toonking
I disagree that it puts us in the lower half just cause we don’t thump teams.
I think we all know by now that AP is a man with a gameplan.
He’s happy with a win, not the ammount of goals.
If continuing to push for more goals makes us suspectible for counterattacks or balls in the back room, then AP won’t have it and slow it all down.
Controling the game until the whistle blows.
