Demba Ba, the Senegalese striker is showing just how valuable player he is to Newcastle United when he scored his 4th goal of the season for Newcastle yesterday to get the 3 points against Norwich City, and that’s now 20 goals in just 42 appearances for the Tyneside club – an average of just less than one goal for every two appearances.
Demba Ba – in action yesterday against the Canaries
And there are some positive words from a delighted Newcastle manager this morning – he says that Demba Ba has been great in the dressing room and that he led yesterday in the game from start to finish.
Couple his performances for Newcastle since he arrived last summer, with his laid back personality and humility, and it’s small wonder this player is so revered on Tyneside – now if we can just tie him down to a long term deal at the club.
But Alan Pardew is saying today he thinks his agent Alex Gontrand, was misquoted last week in a BBC interview, when he said they may have to seek other solutions if Demba Ba is on the bench too much at Newcastle.
This is what Alan said:
“Demba led from start to finish – not just his goal, in the dressing room. Everything about him was top drawer.” “There’s just been so much nonsense written about it.” “I spoke to his agent, who sent me an email saying he got mis-quoted and I actually believe him.”
“I’m not usually one to believe agents that much, but I do believe him on this occasion.” “I also think that Demba’s anger has been generated in the right way to improve for Newcastle United, and there’s no way Demba can play every game this season.”
“He’s going to miss some other games; so will Shola, so will Papiss.” “The best thing we can do is try and play the best players we’ve got and get a win.”
We don’t think Demba Ba expects not to miss games, he just wants to get starts for most of the time in the Premier League, since it seems Alan will not start him many times in the Europa League, or even in the domestic cups this season.
But it seems to have been handled well by Alan Pardew and Demba Ba himself, and you have to remember that Ba has scored three goals in just one and a half games since being benched – was that not a good move by the Newcastle manager?
Demba Ba was born to play for Newcastle and now we have to get this lad signed up to a long term deal at Newcastle, and yes – we may have to pay him as much as the likes of Fabricio Coloccini are getting at the club.
But he’s worth it to Newcastle.
What do you think?

Comment #1Ba should absolubtly get the contract and similar wages to our top players.
In my opinion he is well worth it, we should also show initiative and give Ben Arfa an extension ASAP.
Hatem is our best player by a distance, he has technique, vision and creativity and he in my opinion in the most important player in our team. He grafts now as well.
Get him on a 5 year deal and get him on the top wage bracket asap, SACK NILE RANGER TO FREE UP SOME CASH!

Comment #2If his form continues up to Christmas…give the lad a raise that he deserves and keep him at this club. No clauses, no agent bull, just a long term deal which suits everybody.

Comment #4I don’t think we’ve had a bad result yet, other than perhaps the Villa game where they really put in a shift. I think the team playing below par but picking up points is a very good sign along with top players set to return. A steady B so far, and as they say, there are no easy games.
Also the improvement of Perch and Obertan as well as the acquisitions of Anita and Bigi and the form of HBA certainly make us potentially a significantly stronger proposition this year. So hold steady, boys! Hold steady.

If you are still here from 2/3 posts ago.
Funeral For A Friend were one of the first gigs I ever saw. Had my nose broken in the pit. Oh to be young and have the absurd desire to go and bundle a bunch of people while a band plays loudly.
Sounds like a standard Friday night for Tiote.

Comment #6demba deserves 50k and a 4 year deal in my opinion. also to every body who wasnt happy with yesterdays showing we didnt have krul, simmo colo or tiote( i know he played last 10 but he wasnt his best) and we still got 3 points. not many epl teams can have 4 key players missing and get 3 points

Comment #7Yeah, it’s a problem. His form warrants a better contract, but the club would rightly be wary of that “ticking time bomb” knee of his.

Comment #11I am not going to comment on Ba’s contract since it is not my money or my risk, but I have always rated him and still does 😀
Hope he keeps it up and let his football do the talking.
If Benny keeps it up I am sure he’s in for a contract renewel by yhe end of the season 🙂

Comment #13Talking of Demba, why did Match of The Day feel the need last night to say at the end that “Demba Ba is unhappy”. They even went on to discuss his buy out clause in December. Why can’t they just show matches and ignore tittle tattle or is it just another Southern way to make mischief against the Toon?

Comment #14Mainstream journo’s and pundits are just sadly under informed when it comes to the Toon. Not to be taken seriously. Hopeless.

Comment #16If you take out Ba now, we’ll look really lost. It is essential he stays and signs a new contract to rid the one he has now with that stupid clause. If he were to leave we would have to pay over 9M to bring a striker of the same quality.
Why Pardew mentioned his clause again I will never know but thanks to that comment the vultures are circling above. We need to get it out of his contract and sign him long term.
Do we play Man U on Wednesday next?
