    Belfast

I mentioned that about Gosling earlier. It’s probably his biggest plus for me: his runs into the box are very very well timed.

So if we did get through we would have had Chelsea away in the next game. Would have been typical!

Right just gonna say. I try to be respectful but the regulars here are completely right (Ibiza, Jesper, JimmyMagpie (even if he can be negative 😛 etc) Basically anyone I usually chat with on here. They said they stay away on match days because of the idiocy on here.

So many people on here are absolutely ridiculous.

Yes it is disappointing we went out. We have a small squad to manage with a number of contest. This IS the league cup. We played a decent enough side in a very tough draw and we gave it our all and we made Man U EARN that win.

what i think is best is instead of all this negative we have lets all just think about reading on saturday because now we have all 3 goal scorers in our team because cisse is back and what i think proves it best is his over head kick.

    To much negativity
some great performances by young tav, fergie and bigi
Obertan looked semi potent at times tonight
    Elliot was fantastic
Colo got an hour under his belt same as tiote
    Cisse is scoring again
And finally SHOLA WAS IMMENSE FOR A FULL 90

The ref is a manure fan i thought he was fare tonite we got alot off him first half. Cisse is back and tav, elliot were very good big positives for me, just wish we give it a better go considering the defence they had.
Vuckic imo is not good enough.

all in all an encouraging display. tav was excellent, cisse got off the mark, oba (all be it against youngsters) looked more thoughtful on the ball, gozzer is there or there abouts, fergie got the cross in, cheik and colo got run outs… i could sqeeze out a few more positives but these are enough for me – oh, i forgot, we rested hetty, jonas, santon, demba, sayls and harps!

    @TADS10
your spot on with them 3 players and while so many on here have got i carried away with santon and marvo i have always fealt that feguson has proved more marvo and almost as much as santon while tavernier is still learning so does not need the grief like he got last game

repost…….TADS i dont agree he really hasn’t had the chances sammi, n fergi, hav had and that rly because of injury, in reserves hes been brilliant for a number of years and i also think he’s not been playing his proper position and to be honest its not him promising its the fans who are overhyping him i’m just saying he needs a hell of alot more chances before he gets judged properly.
what did you think of gosling?

Yeah but vuckic has had loan soells which sammy n fergie havent had so you could argue hes had more chances

I thought gosling was okay til the last 20 then he seemed to forget how to pass but yeah didnt think he was terrible but also didnt think he was great tbh

Pawl – agree with everything you say above, with the possible exception of point 4, I don’t get Gosling I’m afraid. Manxpie – Pardew in his interview after the game said Colo is very sore, and doubtful for Reading. He also said he had no option but to play Willo, as we are down to the boards with centre-halves, so is there something up with Saylor we’re not being told. The owner’s financial/transfer policy looking more fragile than ever – more interested in buying JJB!

TDS is here, He should is one of the few people with their head screwed on right.

Manure played a strong attack against us while we had an organised defence with 2 experienced CBs paired with Perch and Tav then Fergie, both young Full backs and I think we did well tonight.

Like I said earlier, I think Cisse shouldve started instead of Vuckic and the result may be different but thats a whole other debate.

Obertan showed very promising signs tonight. my MOTM. He may still run the ball too far but tonight he linked up much better with the team. He made some nice moves and created some for us tonight. A much improved performance. He tracked back well to helped Perch and then Tav too (Sometimes you just need a man back there no matter whether he can tackle or not).

Gosling (WHO SOME MORONS HAVE BEEN BASHING) was also good tonight. He chased the ball down, he made the forward runs, that we need more of from Cabaye. He got stick for his missed chance BUT put yourself in his shoes. It’s easy as a spectator to say, should;ve given it to Marv. But in the spur of the moment its not so easy for a young lad near the end of a game where you are down by one and will go out of the cup if you lose. The decision isnt so easy. Excellent work rate.

TAV was a bright spark today. he can tackle, he can get forward, with a bit more strength on the ball he will truly have the makings of a top draw FB. The only reason Obertan pipped him as my MOTM was because of the improvement I saw in Obertan today.

Tiote looked good, it was nice to have someone solid partnering him and I worried when he came off, but BIGI again showed he is a gem. So calm on the ball and gets the team passing around.

Marv had his moments but did not light up. Especially seeing as he looked so promising before his injury. he looks like he is still getting up to speed. It will come for him though.

Elliott had another good game. Looked sharp made some good saves, was unlucky to concede two.

Shola was great, he had much more energy tonight, It is a shame that Vuckic could not take advantage of his knock downs.

Vuckic again struggled to get into the game, though not to the extent he has recently. He just needs a bit more confidence and strength and needs to wisen up positionally. He was our weak link tonight. I would probably send him our on loan again because we have Sammy who is ahead of him.

On the whole. I think we passed it around well. we were defensively organised but we lacked some fire in the final third of the field (which is not uncommon for us).

Nearly wet myself when Cisse it the woodwork with that Overhead. It showed sheer class of touch and I think we may put too much stock in giving him air balls. Just get the ball to his feet in the box or get low crosses in. So long as the fella is in position and under pressure he will bring the magic.

Dont think so re: Saylor. He said Colo was saw and might not make Reading and that Willo shouldnt have played because he has been run ragged and just that we are short in that area.

Think he just meant that it will be tough who will partner Saylor.

@tads yeah he had 1 stint on loan (he still scored) but again he was injured i still think sammi an fergi has easily had more chances of doin wat there supposed to do in there positions, i don’t know i’m just annoyed by fans hammering young players and saying “THERE JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH” does my nut in lol

Bigi was immense and looks like a future star, his passing and movement were brilliant, such pace.
Tavernier on this showing showed maturity well beyond his years and is going to be Santon’s FB partner, maybe Debuchy will play Rutherford forward and allow Benny a free role behind Demba and Cisse.
