Even with the new eight year deal in place for Alan Pardew and the coaches at Newcastle, there will be absolutely no change in the way the club is run, so don’t expect too much money to be available in the transfer market for big signings.
Mathieu Debuchy – a target in January?
Newcastle will continue to operate rather frugally, but at least the club are balancing the books, and seem to already be in line with the new Financial Fair Play rules which cannot be said for the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea, who are still spending way above the revenues they take in every year.
There may be an opportunity for Newcastle to bring a couple of lpayers into the club in January, with defenders Douglas of FC Twente and long term target Mathieu Debuchy of Lille both possibilities.
And it seems the defense is what we need to strengthen th most, and the facts speak for themselves as last season we conceded 51 goals, which is the most of any side finishing in the top eight.
It looks like Alan will try to bring at least one defender through the door in January, and he still thinks Newcastle can make trophy signings, as he had this to say to the local press today:
“Personally we would look for another defender in the next window – without losing anybody. But we will have to see.”
“What sort of signing would you call Papiss Cisse?” “I think it is a trophy signing in my view – they might not want to call it that.” “But £9M for a striker is a lot of money.” “You look at Premier League clubs outside the top four, and we are all spending the same amount of money.”
“I definitely think we have the strikers now, and that it is about whether we are going to be good enough to keep the goals against column down.” “I think it hurt a little bit last year.” “We are getting better and hopefully this year it will improve.”
As well as bringing new players into the club, Newcastle have to retain the top players we already have, and we may have another circus in January with Demba Ba, since we are told that release clause become active again.
But the bottom line at Newcastle is that if a player doesn’t want to stay and play for Newcastle, we should let him go.
It’s really as simple as that, and if Demba Ba doesn’t want to put a stop to the nonsense going on with his agents trying to get him out of Newcastle, we should probably let him leave and bring in another striker.
That would be a pity because he’s an excellent striker who has played great so far for the club, and scored 20 good goals, but he also has to show a commitment to Newcastle.
What do you think?

Comment #43referee for today’s game is Andre Marriner a man known to like to be the center of things on the pitch, so it looks like we are against 12 men again sorry to insult man kind by comparing Andre Marriner to us but surly in the top five of incompetent officials.

Comment #44for people wanting a Perch/Saylor centreback pairing….Reading have one of the biggest strikers in the premier league in Pogrebnyak, and he has one hell of a head on him, so Willo has never been more vital.
Question is, Anita or Perch – Full-back or Centre mid…
Personally, for me, it has to be Perch in Centre mid, i don’t buy this “we won’t create enough” talk, Perch is a fabulous passer of the ball, and with Anita not being up to scratch in this league yet, there’s danger of him being anonymous. Perch is convincing, and along side Cheick we should without doubt take over the midfield.
Excited for the game, i want the Demba’s to smash these pricks due to the racist comments from the Reading fans.

Comment #49Conaldo – The Percy Arms is decent, The Strawberry of course, will be packed, but second to none in my opinion. Just have a walk from Haymarket to St James and all the pubs along the way are fairly NUFC based and will have decent enough atmosphere’s.

Comment #58As much as I like Pards it gets on my t1ts when he comes out and says, outside ther top four were all spending the same money,we’re not for the third best supported team in the league we’re one of the least spenders,I’ve just been on a website called http://www.transferleague.co.uk.could somebody PLEASE explain to me how after 35M+ in transfer fees are we still 130M in debt, and how LLambias gave a refreshingly honest account the other day by saying we couldn’t afford Douglas.

got to be in the top 4 for selling shirts and the like in the prem,
selling players over the last 4 years and not really spending on new players, we got some great bargins , but we have sold very well,,
wigan make more than we do without selling half as much,,
a rabbit is off somewhere
PLEASE DONT READ AND THINK I JUST WANT ALL THE MONEY SPENT ON PLAYERS, I DONT, BUT I FAIL TO SEE WHERE ALL THE MONEY IS GOING AND DEBTIS NOT BEING REDUCED

Comment #62Jfa, there are times when I wonder where all the money the club is going. Going on the chart on the site U linked, we hah spent well and since mike Ashley took over we haven’t really made that much profit in total. Granted its a bit but its not a huge amount. The question I would like answered is along the lines of what catchy said. We are supported extremely well and we have been on tv a lot over the last two season, id like to know how a combination of those two factors has affected our debt as it apparrently hasn’t at all…… Hmmm.

Comment #63In isolation, the board are probably right not to pay over the odds for Debuchy. But when you consider the added value it would have in that is could secure Cabaye for a another 3 or 4 seasons it has to be worth it. Just look at Jonas and Colo. They’ve become toon legends and probably helped keep each other at the club long term (and through the championship).

Comment #65The first deason we were up excluding transfers we lost about 3 mill. Including trans we paid off £15 mill in OD and had a cash surplus of about 10 mill.in the bank. Ashley has still not taken any money out to pay the £130 mill he has provided on interest free loans.
When the figures for last season are released I am pretty sure we will have made an operating profit.

yes he has he took £1m out for whatever reason he will take more out when our profit’s increase, otherwise we pay it to the tax man instead. i would guess Ashley’s very happy with what hes getting out the club, in business promotions i would put at close to a value of £20m per season, but only a notional value as no company’s ever tried this level of promotion, and i would do the same thing in his position, we have to except that he gets something out of the deal, Ashly will never get from the club what us fans get, for him its a toy, for us its the fist thing in the morning and last thing at night.

Comment #70Dave I think the time to judge is when we are consistently making profits. If they are not reinvested in players then Ashley deserves all the stick that will come his way. Although I agree he is getting some major free advertising from his rebranding of SJP.

Comment #75Respect you opinion Dave. I remember you said a few days ago you started your own business when you were 18. I run my own business as well. Though in the current financial climate its touch and go whether that will be the case in 6 months time.

Comment #78Could do worse than sign Reading’s Alex Pearce. Don’t know why he was dropped today. He was their best player in last 2 games. 6′ 2″, scores and few, 23 year old and his contract is up in June. Snap him up.
