Here are the video highlights (click the link below) of this afternoon’s game, after an advert.
And it looks like Demba’s second equalizer was put in by his hand, although it looks accidental, but it probably should have been disallowed.
But no doubt about his first goal, which was another phenomenal effort from the Senegal striker – get this lad signed up on an eight year contract.
It was a hard earned point today, and we’ll take it.

We hardly made any chances and any fan who has watched our games this season would have been able to tell you that before KO.
Cisse and Ba dont work pick one pards you muppet.
Jonas is clearly not a LM anymore dm or bench.
Bigi and tiote are both defensive players and shouldnt be starting together unless holding out for a draw or something.
HBA is the only player who can create for us in the starting line up and once he is shut out we have nothing.
For me if HBA gets injured this season we will finish mid table at best.

Whats the odds that although Feguson came on and changed the game for us because he can actually put a good cross in he wont start any games coming up in the prem league.
5 davis_toons // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:39 PM
Ventonghen was really a great player that fits right into Spus team.
We should really ask MA for one of this kind of quality.
We already have enough youngsters at the moment.
6 davybtoon // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:42 PM
Glad to tavernier get chance today did some good n some bad things but wasn’t helped by hba not tracking back, I really don’t see what jonas brings to our team to justify a place
8th n only Chelsea have beat us n we’ve been poor all season am pretty pleased with that when we hit form will shoot up the league
7 davis_toons // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:43 PM
QPR was having their defending problems and MarkHughes was addressing it with immed players. (Of course with Support) Hope MA can do just that little more..in Jan

Stream died for all the goals. Just saw highlights and Dembas first was amazing.
Not a great performance but the usual hysterical reactions from some of the posters on here is par for the course.
9 davybtoon // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:43 PM
Shola n ba is our best partnership, jonas should b dropped for ferguson
10 Super Magpie // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:46 PM
For all the Jonas at LW arselickers…
Shane ferguson has put 2 good crosses in the box in 2 games and got 2 assists.
When was the last team got 1, nevermind 2 in 2.
Also for those who say he draws free kicks, do we ever score from set pieces?
I understand that it relieves pressure but surely it’s better to have someone who actually attacks.

so is harper the one to blame for setting a team up to sit back everygame? every game this season HBA has been the only threat from midfield when 3 midfielders are defensive midfielders teams can attack more.
also it is ashley who has not bothered bring in an extra 2 players.
19 tequilamag // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:53 PM
Fray mate it beggars belief, how dare we only be on the same points as Arsenal.
20 davis_toons // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:54 PM
No matter what..we needed another player in defends to improve at least (not talking abt attack or mid)
We are left with Williamson now. He is the last CD that can head some balls.

Um no its not they conceded 11 goals in 5 games theres nothing stable about QPR and its worrying that ppl want us to be like them
22 blew // Sep 29, 2012 at 5:59 PM
How many goals over the years has a flat footed Harper cost the team, I reckon his lack of agility has resulted in the loss of 4 points this season. It must be in the contract of Jonas, if he is fit he plays. Both of them are liabilities. Refreshing to see a productive Ferguson on the pitch, a telling cross again, needs to start, in place of JG. Well done Demba saved the day again.
23 davis_toons // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:00 PM
As a club we are stable now. To move further/ improve and not stuck behind the so called big four/ Arsenal/ MU, we needed to get in another proper CD.
We need to be in the MIX with Big Four. Just like Spurs or AstVilla , Eveton, etc a few season back.
This Jan another baby steps…CD…we will get closer..we will!

i have a question for those who think some are to negative ket i do accept as a non sense but one like checke i do understand some points here is the question
will you accept a draw or a defeat on thursday if we play a weakened team. if we then loose the game against maure?

I hope you get what i mean, QPR may note be a right example to you. Im fine.
What im referring to was more of their business attributed towards dealings. (Not that MA ways of dealing was not good or any)
28 tequilamag // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:06 PM
Toonking, we have 4 regular starters out, actually 5 now with Taylor injured. By definition we will have to field weakened teams in both games. Would you rather we put out our strongest 11 on thur and risk even more injuries?

the point you missing is pardew is saying he rest players for weekend games so that should mean aiming to win that game to reach a european spot not playing a team set up for a draw. we will never win the premier league and playing 3 DM won’t win games
31 toonarmydownsouth // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:13 PM
Davis
Yeah they signed on huge wages that no one else would offer, you dont seem to grasp the fact that if we want to compete in europe you have to be finacially stable, which a team like QPR arent, teams like QPR will go into adminstration most fans can see that a mile off look at there squad there made up of pensioners and below average players who once they’ve signed them they cant get rid of because no other club will pay players like ferdinand 40k a week
32 tequilamag // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:17 PM
Actually the point I am making is that Pardews hand is somewhat forced due to circumstances. If everyone was fit your question would have more validity. But assuming everyone was fit I would still be happy for Pardew to field some of the fringe players as I think the Man U game is the more difficult of the two.
33 davis_toons // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:20 PM
What you have mention was true on QPR.
But a as whole Newcastle will have to do a little more this Jan if possib (baby steps) on the defence. CD. We should get that right?
34 Gateshead-Mag // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:25 PM
would have liked to see a midfield of
ferguson tiote anita ben arfa
bigi done really well but to similar to tiote, anita offers something different, how long will pardew carry on with jonas on the left??
its central or rb/lb or nothing for me
35 beefman13 // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:25 PM
I have watched fergie alL through his toon career, reserve games etc and he always stands ou, he does get injured a lot but when he gets firing he is direct and we know he puts quality balls in, obertan on the other hand is hot and cold all the time, jonas is a strange mix, cant say i enjoy watchin the lad, AP sees him as a shoe in every game, i certainly dont, but he gets paid to do the job, the second half today was a bit touch and go but we are a bit stretched injury wise specially at the back once we can hopefully get settled we will pick up performance wise, im ok with the point today, Ba`s goal was world class, as was fergies cross for the second.
36 toonking // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:28 PM

i do get your point about risk to injury but as i fan desperate for us to win a trophy so will accept a loss in the league if we went through in a cup and fielded players from the starting 11 but what i don’t like is pardew getting us knocked out of a cup which is the best chance to win to then get a draw against reading in what was another boring game well i am off now but one last word for you is spurs are beating manure so you are a point closer to them in the chase for top 4 and title.

Very excited about young Fergo.
Hopefully Obertan can finally turn it on against his old team.
Perch should never again be allowed near central defence. Bless him.
40 qtoon // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:37 PM
Wonder how we’d do playing Shola just behind Ba and Cisse in a kind of 4-3-1-2 formation. Both Ba and Cisse seem to play well working off Shola individually, I’d be bricking myself if I was a centre back having to keep track of both of them whilst having to handle with Shola’s flick-ons and hold-up play…

We also need to do something new with our set-pieces. The long ball to Williamson to head back across goal hasn’t worked once, I don’t even think we’ve managed a shot on target with it.. So why are we persisting with it?! Such a waste
43 jawballsaswallwell // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:43 PM
Another fine delivery by Fergie, I’m sure we’re are going to see more of him, I hope he does well he, both strikers can thrive on the delivery he can provide.
Ba’s goal was world class for the 2nd game in a row. He’s worth more than 7 million quid, and we could easily lose him in January.
On the face of it, really odd decision to leave out Anita with key players injured, and pair Tiote and Bigi in central with Perch at fullback. What’s going on there?

Anyone else watching the Spuds vs Manure game ? crazy stuff
45 jimmymagpie // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:49 PM
All these chickens coming home to roost now. 2 points away from home, both as a courtesy of totally inefficient officials. No creativity whatsoever, unless Hatem is in the mood. No fit centre halves thanks to the owner’s hapless transfer policy, ludicrously explained by the casino owner in mid-week. Never mind lads, we’ve got umpteen chaeap, one-paced, non creative, non scoring midfielders, and two atrikers that the manager doesn’t know how to play together. Man U on the horizon, and a back four of Perch, Simpson, Willo, and Santon. God help us! Can’t be bothered to waste any more breath on the cloud cuckooland posters on here, so off to watch some decent stuff on the TV.
46 89Norcal // Sep 29, 2012 at 6:52 PM
As usual, my stream took a dump during each goal
Has to be said, that Colo’s inconsistent fitness has hurt us at the back, requiring Pards to come up with ragtag defenses. I think the Tav sub for Steven Taylor is one Alan regrets. He thought we could comfortably push forward vs Reading.
As lucky as we were, Reading’s 1st goal was equally lucky. I’m not ashamed of this game but AP’s tactics were just a bit off.
And damn it when will Cisse score?
47 Nufc-83 // Sep 29, 2012 at 7:03 PM
Wasnt Dawson for spurs nearly sold in the summer? would take him any day of the week in January if the price is right.
48 Mister Tuff // Sep 29, 2012 at 7:11 PM
Apologies for the re-post.
The only positive from that display was that we earned a point from Reading.
I remind you from READING –not Man Utd, not City, not Chelsea, not Arsenal.
How a midget (Hunt) can score with a header baffles me totally. A dire performance, and one which I think suggests trouble ahead. Did the great summer gamble of not paying a bit extra for a couple of first team defenders pay off –the evidence so far suggests it has not. I see the clubs’ argument in not “really” being interested in the Capital One Cup as the prize money for winning it is only £100,000. Why risk players in that competition when the rewards in the Premiership are so much higher ie Man. Utd. received about £60 million last season and Wolves received about £30 million –the amount
dependent on where you finish.(other considerations also apply which are beyond me). But basically the higher you finish the more money, I mean MILLIONS, you get in return. On todays’ performance
I see us finishing just above mid table, perhaps 7th or 8th –strengthening the team in the summer by
paying a few million more would have given us a better chance to finish higher up the league, and
earn those extra millions –which would have gone some way to pay for the extra costs incurred in the summer. Finishing, fifth or higher would indicate to potential signings Newcastle are a club on the up and a good place to be, on the other hand finishing below fifth would suggest the reverse.
Have good finances is commendable, however football does have risks, we will not progress without taking one or two risks. Progression by hoping that a whole lot of youngsters come through is risky, by the time we wait for that, the better players will be sickened and will have moved on to a club that may provide them with top football and medals.
49 WWYCD // Sep 29, 2012 at 7:12 PM
Well thats was horrible viewing we didnt seem to show up at all, very little attacking going on and once Perch moved to CB it was all down hill
Two goals Harps could do nothing about neither great imo. Ba’s first was stunning but clear handball for the second should never of counted. Another poor display, poor result and fairly horrific viewing in terms of football quality (again).
Lack control without Cabs or Colo and when HBA doesnt perform Ba/Cisse are left stranded up top lost in the crowd. Formation isnt working and hasen’t for some time now Pards has often talked of the need to dominate the midfield yet he sends our team out without the ability to do so, Jonas needs to play in the first 11 for me but as a CM not on the wing he was converted last season but now hes being reverted? I dont understand that.
I dont blame Ba for this he is our best all round striker and he is most effective in a central role equally Cisse should play central aswell probably with HBA in a free role and 3 CMs behind him.
I like Pards but things need to be sorted out on the pitch and he isnt doing that this season which is disappointing, no I dont want him fired I want him to be the manager he was last year and get us playing good football again then the results will follow which happened the back end of last season.
Though maybe am just angry about the start of our season and being overly negative though I cant recall us putting in a good display yet this season

wed may 2nd 2012. chelsea o nufc 2. every body remembers cissis 2 fantastic goals. it is also notable, that this game was the last game newcastle united put a full shift in. 90 mins , not 45, may it be 1st half or 2nd that we are witnessing now. nearly 5 months since the paying customer got therir moneys worth , tickets should be half price. ok we had the end of season break, but 5 months is a hell of a long time since we really enjoyed watching the lads play a whole game. shocking really. so for that statistic, pards get a contract that not even a champions league winner could dream of. i am all for stability, and decent contracts, but they have to be for the right reasons , and the right people not just because arsenal or man u do it. pards done a great job last year , and i really hope he can get the lads playing the kind of football they are capable of, not this shambles being produced on a weekly basis. whos to blame ? the lads or pardew?. i really dont know that answer. what i do know pards , or the lads need to get it sorted, coz at the minute hes not worth 25p on a 8 day contract, as the saying goes- must do better

We need to be patient. Rome was never built in a day. We have come from the Championship to 5th in the Prem under Pardew’s great guidance. * more years of that sounds great to me. Not a good game but we got a draw. That is a team destined to win something. And Jonas played just fine. he never stops running. All he needs is a goal and then people will say he is a top player. Its amazing how fickle fans are.

Yeah we do have that atm with Colo and Cabs out but Pards should adapt the shape of the team to cope which in fairness he did cover Colos absence but did nothing for the hole left by Cabs stuck with two up front

What you mention, properly most fans knows deep in.
But, what we needed was really patient with this club.
Whatever it is, the Club, the owner and the players have took the club as far as we possible could and the future will still very much depends on MA (the club owner) direction. I could say that is not the most exciting football Newcastle Utd can play but is the stability that we can get so far.
To move on, again it depends very much on the ambition and the ability of the owner and manager, as fans we have already done as much by supporting the club up or downs.
Example (a poor example)
We cant expect a Honda to Beat those Ferrari, We can only expect some odds moments….but we can upgrade from a Honda to a BMW or a LamBo..as time goes by..
58 JDdubai // Sep 29, 2012 at 7:50 PM
Yes its good that we have points but surely ll those blindly loyal fans on here can agree that we havent played well at all this season?
Getting points through luck wont work much longer, if we dont improve then we will be lucky to finish top 10, at the moment, based purely on performances we dont deserve to be where we are.
The scary thing is tat we dont seem to know what we are doing, if HBA isnt on fire then there is no creativity, no fluidity.
4-4-2 only works if you have someone up front who can dominate in the air, gotta b Shola if we stick with it as so far this season the ball doesnt stick up front so we are always losing possession.
Personally i think we should stick with 4-2-3-1 for. While, but with Ba up front, leave Cisse for Europe til he gets his form back.
Jonas DM only, think Santon and Fergie on the left could be good. With Jonas LW we are limiting our assist and goals to just 3 players, thats why we always struggle for goals.
We are in a good position right now but not through skill but something needs to improve quickly and performances need to lift.
Happy to be in top half tho we have an important October coming up and players not fully fit could be an issue.
59 davis_toons // Sep 29, 2012 at 7:53 PM
I think AP will be more concern now with MAN UTD Lossing in their home ground.
Hopefully, we will not down by too many goals too early in the game and defend better as a team.
A draw will be great. I dont expect the current squad to break the record of 1972 when we last won there.
