Reports Newcastle Striker Set To Leave Newcastle In January

We don’t know if these reports are true, and it’s easy to make this story up again, and after all it is a Sunday – but there are reports today that Newcastle will not match Demba Ba’s wage demands, and he could leave Newcastle United, as early as January.

Demba Ba – after scoring Newcastle’s first goal at Reading yesterday

The report is in the Sunday Mirror and it says that Newcastle are not willing to increase the Senegal striker’s wages at Newcastle from £50K to £60K a week, but anybody who has seen Demba Ba save Newcastle a couple of times with some great goals over the last couple of weeks, would think he may be worth that wage to Newcastle.

Since we have been told by Alan Pardew that Ba’s release clause becomes active again in January, and Demba Ba starting to score goals for fun again, there will be clubs interested in taking the player for a measly £7M in the January window, but that would be terrible for Newcastle to lose one of their best players in that way.

The news is that Ba wants the same wages as Newcastle’s top wage earner, Fabricio Coloccini, and we’re almost sure the numbers being put out are not accurate.

Surely Newcastle would be willing to raise Demba Ba’s wages by 20%, from £50K/week to £60K/week, after the player has scored 22 goals for Newcastle since the start of last season – and not only that – but some of the goals he has scored have been sensational – like yesterday’s first goal when he blazed the ball home on the volley.

We’re likely to get these reports continually leading up to January, and we suppose the best thing is to hope that Newcastle can announce a new wage deal with the Senegal striker before the January window rolls around.

Here’s hoping.

For the record, Demba Ba has scored 22 goals in 43 appearances for Newcastle.

Made up Sunday sh!te. If it is true, however and Mr. Ba wants to leave then you can join the likes of Enrique, Carroll, Barton and many, many others who have left the toon for a ‘bigger and better future’ and have ended up with egg on there face. Grass is never greener away from SJP 😀

So Much bad moves by Pardew

Abeid and Vuckic should Start in the center. Does Pardew have ANY idea what Hes doing? U need to have the Balance in the Midfield

a Ball winner, a Passer and a Penetator. Vuckic = Penetator or Gosling. Abeid filling the Pass master for Cabaye. and tiote OR Bigirimana NOT BOTH! doing the ball winner.

williamson is terrible Curtis good should start instead btw.

Jeff – Pards has no idea what he’s doing? And you say play Abheid????? Based on what? One good goal in a reserve game? Abheid has been overhyped, he’s nowhere near ready for the first team. Nowhere near.

When you think how much Terry is on a week 60 large is not a lot BUT it could set a presedent for the other, so will most likely not happen. FFS they are ALL on too much anyway, let them sweep the roads or doo something accademice and get £200/week and then the could complain, they should all get in the real world. Love our team to bits but this is a bit sickening, hope its sorted and put to bed soon.

Hopefully no truth in the story, but we need to do everything possible to keep this brilliant player, and that means higher wages, so be it. Interesting test case for Ashley. If he can put a manager on such a long contract, surely we can tie up our joint most influential player?

Had been darkly brooding about a number of things in the aftermath of that less than ordinary Reading performance, until I recognised we have two splendid encounters to look forward to in the coming week. Bordeaux in Europe and Man U at St James’. C’mon!!!!!! the Lads.

Achtoon – totally agree. We were a very mix and match type of side player wise, especially at the back. Coupled with the fact we were playing a very hungry reading side I think a point is fine. We could have easily won it though if we were a bit braver going forward, but that will only come when our defence, whoever is playing starts to put a challenge in.
Good game though, I think I aged a month watching it lol

Oh and one goal earns a starting place in the PL? Dont be daft abied has NEVER played for ANY team at a senior level theres no one way you can justify dropping tiote for abied, as for vuckic the lads had a few games this season and has been below average in all of them

We shouldn’t worry about Ba going in January as we all know he doesn’t score after Christmas because Cisse scores.

If he leaves for more money then it could only be to the big boys ManU, ManC, Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs or Liverpool but….

ManU, ManC, Arsenal and Chelsea appear to have enough firepower already. They could take him but he wouldn’t necessarily be first choice striker.

Spurs could be tempted but their wage structure and ceiling is about the same as ours. Liverpool are in need of a striker. But would they chance their luck / do a deal with us again? I bet their owners would have second thoughts.

The only club which has the money but perhaps not the sense is QPR but I cannot see Ba going there. Everton and Villa have no money. The rest, forget it.

Get this Ba debacle sorted once and for all. Give him a new contract with no escape clause and increased wages. This will stop all this is he isnt he rubbish.
We need him more than we need Cisse. To replace him would be virtually impossible, the prices clubs ask for strikers, so give him what he wants.

Seems to me its all down to Ba’s knee. I’ve no doubt he’s worth as much as Colo to us and strikers always get a premium. However, his flawed knee is not a figment of the imagination and I doubt many insurance companies would sanction 7 million. Stoke wouldn’t risk it. Having said that, he’s been great for us, often playing the full match when Cisse has been hooked after 75 minutes. But surely, for an extra 10k if we could ditch the 7mil clause it would be worth it to stabilise the situation. Are we going to have to listen to ‘Ba goes to Liverpool for 7million ‘ every transfer window from now on?
