Newcastle Being Linked With Norwegian Forward

TEAMtalk are reporting that Newcastle’s new long term manager Alan Pardew is looking to bring in some reinforcements in the January transfer window, but we wouldn’t expect those to be midfielders.

Jo Inge Berget – 22 year-old 6′ tall Norwegian forward

It seems like Newcastle’s weakness is still in defense, and we have already conceded 8 goals in our six league games so far, and with that average we’ll concede 51 goals in our 38 league games this season, which is exactly the number of goals we let in last season, when we had the worst defensive record of any side in the top eight.

The player they say Newcastle are watching is Norwegian club Molde’s midfield player – 22 year-old Jo Inge Berget – who can also play up front as a striker, and has appeared just once this year for the full Norway National side.

This is the first time we’ve been linked with this player, and since joining Molde from Italian club Udinese in 2010, Berget has scored 12 goals in 38 appearances for his club, which is not exactly setting the Tippeligaen on fire, although he could still be a good player.

There will be a lot of reports linking Newcastle with players up to and including the January transfer window, and most of the reprots will not be accurate, and we think that’s the category this story falls into.

But we suppose there’s still a chance that Graham Carr has spotted this lad playing in Norway, and if that’s true we may even be interested – what’s Graham’s phone number again?

@Tweaked, so because we are linked with a forward it means we aren’t after a defender? Just because we haven’t been linked with a Defender doesn’t mean he is not after one =.=

Your over reacting for no reason.

On the subject of this lad, if he has potential, at that price and range I think its a decent deal.

Norwegian footballers would struggle in the PL in this day and age.
    Trust me, i know.
U won’t see many of our footballers go overseas to the PL anymore, most go to leagues slightly stronger than Tippeliga, but most don’t even make it there.

GK, DF, CM, ST, doesn’t matter which, we wont buy anyone. We’re doomed. We didn’t buy enough in the summer and now they will pay the price. Blah. Moan. Cabbage. Purple. Bleh.

    Hmmm…where are those pills….

A £2 million unknown forward – just what we really need!
How about a class central defender – or is that too much to ask for?
Buying Douglas and Debuchy in the close season would have really taken this club on. Unfortunately not doing so has knocked us further back than ever and the glory of European entry now looks like an irritant instead, due to injuries.
Saylor will spend 50% of the season injured and Williamson just isn’t good enough. Did the manager and staff who apparently are competent enough to earn 8 year contracts not have the sense to see that?
    Will this club never learn?

If he’s a goal scoring midfielder thats exactly what we need. Tiute, Guti, Cabs etc., don’t score enough and it’s only HBA that weighs in apart from Ba and Cisse.

BOOOOO!!!!! Stop looking at other players. Don’t you dare scout, discuss or anything a player unless they’re a defender.

Although, I don’t know why they’d bother, they’ll just offer half of what they’re worth and then walk away from the deal.

    Disgusting!

Let’s just put everyone on long term contracts and endure more of this circus. Eight years of:

Pardew – Manager of the year award winner with his first full season in charge of NUFC, getting us 5th and Europa League.
Carr – One of the best scouts in England. Finding us gem after gem and having a major hand in transforming our team from hard grit to hard grit, skill and serious potential.
Carver, Woody and Stone – Local coaches, bringing the history to the players and forming a great team atmosphere.

It really is bad times for us. Fear for the worst people.

Linked with a 22 year old from the Norwegian league for under 2 mill. Good grief, now Mike is just brazenly taking the piss.

Rainrix….Not at all. It seems my sarcastic rants are busting out of me.

I’ve spent the fast few weeks really trying to clean the slate and to get some perspective, as many were accusing myself and others of bullying with optimism. But to be honest, it’s all doing my head in (Slight exaggeration, yes). I will sensibly debate anything with anyone, as long as they will do the same.

Any soap box doom mongering will likely be met with sarcasm and disdain.

For the record, all are entitled to their opinions. There is a major difference between voicing concerns and generally just throwing negative tripe all over the place.

I thought I was quite a cynical person, but some of the people on here make it their lives work, so back to the drawing board for me. Anarchy is back.

I see we are pulling a Barcelona by ignoring our needs for a CB and targeting more forwards…

Perhaps MA will whip out some extra cash to buy a defensive midfielder, and we can spend the rest of this year struggling to convert him to a center half 🙂

Yanga Mbiwa is the player we need, Or Alerwield frm Ajax or even Douglas but we def need a a CB/LB some of our goals conceeded lately are far far too soft, I did say it about Colo to that once player hit the 30/31 mark they start picking up injuries like taxi’s pick up fares when everyone was saying give him the 3/4year contract awhile back their is alot of the clubs money tied up in him and id say its safe to say the treatment room will be seeing alot more of him. Young player with experience are the future.

He’s a decent player. His mediocre goal-to-game ratio is down to the fact that he often plays in an offensive midfield position. I’ve seen a couple of his games in the Molde-shirt. He looks okay, but IMO not good enough for Newcastle and Premier League.
