TEAMtalk are reporting that Newcastle’s new long term manager Alan Pardew is looking to bring in some reinforcements in the January transfer window, but we wouldn’t expect those to be midfielders.
Jo Inge Berget – 22 year-old 6′ tall Norwegian forward
It seems like Newcastle’s weakness is still in defense, and we have already conceded 8 goals in our six league games so far, and with that average we’ll concede 51 goals in our 38 league games this season, which is exactly the number of goals we let in last season, when we had the worst defensive record of any side in the top eight.
The player they say Newcastle are watching is Norwegian club Molde’s midfield player – 22 year-old Jo Inge Berget – who can also play up front as a striker, and has appeared just once this year for the full Norway National side.
This is the first time we’ve been linked with this player, and since joining Molde from Italian club Udinese in 2010, Berget has scored 12 goals in 38 appearances for his club, which is not exactly setting the Tippeligaen on fire, although he could still be a good player.
There will be a lot of reports linking Newcastle with players up to and including the January transfer window, and most of the reprots will not be accurate, and we think that’s the category this story falls into.
But we suppose there’s still a chance that Graham Carr has spotted this lad playing in Norway, and if that’s true we may even be interested – what’s Graham’s phone number again?
