No Way Newcatsle Will Pay £16M For This Striker

We read this story yesterday, and as soon as we saw the £16M price tag we knew Newcastle United would not be interested in this striker.

Seydou Doumbia – 24 year-old CSKA striker

There have been stories over the weekend that Newcastle are looking for a striker to replace Demba Ba, who is supposed to be leaving the club in January, because Newcastle will not meet his wage demands.

Assuming that is true then it does make sense that Newcastle are after another striker, although we were in the summer too, because we have only three experienced strikers at the club in Demba Ba, Papiss Cisse and Shola Ameobi, and should have at least one more – after both Peter Lovenkrands and Leon Best left the club in the summer.

We have again been linked with Ivorian striker Seydou Doumbia, who currently plays for CSKA Moscow in Russia, and  has an amazing goal-scoring record of 120 goals in 196 appearance so far in his career, and the striker has scored 50 goals in 69 appearances since joining the Moscow club from BSC Young Boys in 2010.

While in Switzerland he scored 57 goals in 78 appearances for Young Boys, so the 24 year-old certainly has an eye for goal, to say the least.

Seydouu stands 5’10” tall and is said to be available for around £16M, and he is wanted by some of Europe’s biggest clubs, so there’s just no way this lad will be arriving at Newcastle any time soon.

We’ll have to let a club like PSG or Manchester City pay £25M for him.

The Magpies should have scouted this player, who has played for the Ivory Coast 19 times with one goal, a couple of years ago – if we wanted him to be wearing Newcastle’s colors.

So we don’t see much truth in this story, but of course we’ve been wrong before. 😀

Doumbia is a different kind of player than the three big strikers Newcastle already have at the club, but he’s just a little bit out of Newcastle’s price range at the moment.

Theres news that we are after Jo Inge Berget who currently plays for Molde in the Norwegian Premier League. He’s 22, can play either midfield or striker. Could cost as little as 5m.

Would be a good upgrade from Vukic who seems to have lost his way this season

Jo Inge Berget from Molde would problably cost as little as 2M. But not sure if he would fit in to the first team. Allthough I’m Norwegian, I don’t follow this league so I haven’t seen to much of him.

Jo Inge looks like an interesting prospect, has decent height as well. I would think we’re looking for another striker regardless of whether Ba leaves. I would be disappointed if he did go though. He would have slipped into oblivion if it weren’t for us giving him a chance, though it’s hard to argue that Cisse or Ba wouldn’t play better alone.

Yesterday only talked positive, here’s some critical thinking: I think perhaps we need a small wily Latin American forward? Maybe a couple of wingers who can actually take on defenders? Ober can’t do that, Marveaux needs time, only Fergie seems able… It’s a shame we don’t dominate games with so much class in our ranks, even though it’s good that we pick up some points. I mean, gone are the Butt, Smith days, we should do better, visually. I admit I can’t quite put my finger on it, but so should AP.

    16Mil is just too much!

The days of the big money buys are happily over!

Let him go to Shitty or Manure! or Chelski ! His price tag can add to THEIR accumulated Debt !

Let Carr scout someone who is completely unknown! Fame and popularity raises the Price!

I would also say this ! Lets not buy anyone with Cocky agents or over-demanding Parents and DON,T set up any contracts with Stupid pointless release Clauses in them!

We were going to pay near that for de Jong so don’t see why we would pay the full £16m. He is fast and strong with a great finish so would be perfect on the left wing were ba doesn’t want to play. £16m is a bargain for this guy.

This means the price tag is really £9M……if he’s to replace Demba as we’ll get at least £7M for him.
