Norwegian agent Jim Solbakken has been in talks with Newcastle United and Alan Pardew, and he has said he has discussed a number of forwards with the Newcastle manager, but wouldn’t say if one of those was Norwegian 22-year-old Jo Inge Berget, who is being linked with a possible Newcastle move in January.
Joshua King – young Manchester United striker – on the move?
But Solbakken is willing to discuss Manchester United youngster Joshua King, a 20 year-old Norwegian striker, who has failed to make a breakthrough into the Manchester United first team, after joining the club four years ago from Norwegian club Vålerenga Fotball (that’s how it’s spelled), his home town club in Oslo.
The Norwegian agent had this to say to VG:
“I have discussed attacking options with Newcastle United. There are many clubs who are interested in Joshua King but he is where he should be.” “He could have joined many clubs during the summer but has got confidence in the Manchester United organisation.”
But there has been news over the last few weeks that Joshua wants to move on from the Red Devils, and he could be made available in January, and it appears that Newcastle are one of the clubs taking a look at the player.
King has spent loan spells at Hull City, Borussia Monchengladbach and Preston North End to get some first team experience, and has played for all the Norwegian Youth sides, and twice for the full side, making his debut in September against Iceland.
Newcastle may be losing Demba Ba in January, so the club will be looking for potential strikers that could come in during January, but we would need somebody more experienced than King, although he could be fueling Newcastle’s interest as one for the future.
We would expect Newcastle to be linked with a number of strikers from now through January, but we have to hope that Demba Ba will sign a new deal and stay on Tyneside, before the end of the year.

sorry, I’m trying to say AC Milan’s Nesta and Khaladze are slow like Willo. But.. I need your honest opinion when Willo had the ball, what did he do with it?

Comment #43Santon…Don’t get me wrong. Williamson’s weaknesses are there for all to see. He is an particular type of English CB that we have produced for many years. They’re taught when it doubt, hoof it up the other end of the pitch. If it isn’t down here, they can’t score. He was a cheap buy from Portsmouth, who were / are hardly known for their smooth style of play. He is adapting and imo improving, albeit slowly. Decent enough squad player, but certainly can be improved upon.
I agree in theory about tactics. We don’t appear to be set up in a way that utilises what we have at our disposal. Whether that is to compensate other issue areas (at least in pardews eyes) I’m not 100% sure, but we’ve seen Pardew play the perceived “better way”, but usually when the team is in full flow and we have most of our nomal starters on the pitch, which so far this season, we haven’t.
We’re playing very defensive and negative football at the minute, but we’re holding on in there for now, performances will improve and I believe so will Pardews tactics as people return and start to find their normal form.

Comment #44Wandering….Again? Yesterday? Is it old news (ish), didn’t he get arrested last week?
He really needs to go. If he’s not going to be playing again (which is what we’ve been told), he needs to be released. We gave Joey Barton away, I would go as far as to pay out what was needed to cancel this fools contract.
May have some talent, but he doesn’t have the class to play for NUFC.

Fair enough, I just hope things are change for the better soon, because honestly i’m getting annoyed watching aimless long balls. The team worked hard to win the ball and in a split second the ball is with the opponents again.

Comment #48I hope we can get Joshua King. I live in Norway so I’ve seen this player many times. In my opinion Joshua is one of the biggest talents we have.

Comment #49Wandering….So I guess good news doesn’t in fact travel fast 🙂 Was just about to fly to England, find Ranger and give him a quick slap. Still is a fool.
Santon…You don’t get full of excitement as that ball gets smashed up field back to their players? Don’t know what’s wrong with you like, unreasonable expectations some might say 😉 Don’t fret, something will happen soon.

Comment #50Ibiza, never got to answer your point yesterday re Ashley, but genuinely feel that we are being taken for a ride here. The stadium naming change has not attracted the sponsor sought , and Sports Direct was only supposed to be an interim measure. Therefore Ashley has to start paying for SD advertising, or pay the 10 mill which we expected to receive annually, for the right to alter the name. Maybe he is doing this anyway – or maybe I’m being too nice to him. Of course, I wouldnt be so mildly irritated by this in the first place, if we had just shown more ambition in the summer. We always respect each other’s viewpoints Ibiza, but plenty of fans on the site told people like me to be patient and we were …..and then only Anita turned up, just as I had thought , and said multiple times, would happen. Hopefully we will address that in January. If we dont, I think it will be a say a lot about where we are going as a club, but I do think we will spend. Hoping against hope! 🙂

Comment #51Munster….I do remember the summer well and I was one of those that told people to be patient. I personally believe we were in the market to get certain targets. What we seemed to lack were alternative options. Maybe the club have decided on who they want and are willing to wait. They didn’t see the urgent need for a player to do a job and think they can pick up the original targets on our terms in January or possibly next summer. Obviously just an opinion.
On renaming the stadium. I don’t know what is or isn’t being paid, although I could make an educated assumption and probably wouldn’t be too happy with the reality. However, I actually don’t think a year is too much time to have found a sponsor, but for now, it does appear to be just a big advertising board for SD.
I hope that Ashley is still interested come January, I believe he will be, but there is a chance if we haven’t hit much form and are lingering outside of the target positions, he may chose to see out this season without bringing in new players. Only 3 months to go until we find out….oh goody!
