Alan Pardew seems simply delighted that the St. James’ Park signs are going back up, and in the local press yesterday, it was suggested the signs will be back up almost immediately, and we certainly hope that’s the case.
Alan Pardew – three top players have good chance to play at Sunderland
Alan was interviewed after the Wonga deal had been announced yesterday, and he wants the St. James’ Park signs put up at least before the Sunderland game at the Stadium of Light a week on Sunday, because he thinks it will give the Geordie fans a big lift:
“The sign’s are going back up, I said do it before Sunderland.”
And the good news is that all three of Newcastle’s top players currently out injured – Coloccini, Steven Taylor and Tim Krul have a good chance of being back for the vital derby game at Sunderland a week on Sunday.
Alan continued:
“If I am honest, I think Colo, Tayls and Tim will have a good chance of being fit for the Sunderland game.” “I would put them, at 70-30 or 80-20. Somewhere in between. That’s a big lift straight away.”
After an average start to this season, we need to get a good result at Sunderland, and then try to get back to the winning ways of last season – that’s going to be important in the upcoming games, so that we don’t fall too far back in the league table.
There’s no doubt that we’ve missed all three players since they’ve been out, and it will be great if they are back and ready to take on Sunderland at the Stadium of Light – we need a win in that game, that’s for sure.

Comment #2REPOST FROM LAST ARTICLE –
at the end of the day its upto the people who choose to use them, if they are desperate for money, then thats that.im sure there not like dodgy loan sharks and send a couple of large skin heads around with knuckle dusters, and anyway im more bothered about it being a good deal for NUFC as thats what we need to keep up with the big boys! and its a very clever PR stunt giving us SJP back as everybody will aprove of that of cause! “What your basically saying is that people in the North East are not intelligent enough to make their own decisions”
^^If that were true then I would be insulting each and every one of my family. What I am saying is that The north-east has the highest personal bankruptcy rate in the country, this is a fact not opinion. Also the north of England is economically poorer than the south. So when people are poor they CAN become desperate, and desperate people can do desperate things to feed their family and pay rent etc.. The stress of needing to make ends meet day-in-day-out can be torture, so when someone like Wonga offers you temporary relievement it can be very tempting. Just look up some of the effects of chronic stress. Wonga profits off peoples suffering and adds to the problem. I will not buy anything with that logo on it.

“If you wear the shirt next season, you will be advertising Wonga and condoning all of its practices.”
My word, are U serious??? So all Blackpool fans condone wonga’s practices?? And can’t someone buy the shirt to SUPPORT NEWCASTLE UNITED!!!! I swear some toon fans are the most unreasonable pple around.
The problem is ur looking at the deal in your perspective, to make such an outlandish claim, U must first weigh the pros and cons of that deal (I.e what do the club get, what does this deal mean to Newcastle etc)
Wonga do not force U to borrow from them, U do that urself, if U borrow money from then which U knw U can’t payback on time then its ur fault. The problem with society today is that U want to blame someone else for ur own mistakes.
Wonga are a short term loan company, and thats that, they are not there to solve ur long term financial solutions. They are there to lend U money to solve U short term financial solutions.
if used correctly they are brilliant, but as always u will always get pple that over do it. And end up owing them loads of money.

Comment #10Just as it is perhaps a bit of a long bow to compare Wonga to the mafia, it’s certainly a longer bow to compare them to a legitimate bank.

Well they’re not condemning them are they!!
The company logo represents the company and its practices. by wearing it you are advertising and promoting the company, this is why football shirts have sponsorship.

Comment #12didnt want to get drawn into this whole wonga thing but that article about the muslim thing made me laugh! our current sponsor is virgin money and prior to that northern rock. i might be being stupid here but dont they charge interest on loans?
the wonga deal is a good deal, they are a privately owned company and therefore aim to make profit, they spotted a good market opportunity and took it! they dont force people to take their loans!

Comment #15Wonga is an unfortunate choice but the reaction (including the notion muslim sharia law boycott) is laughable.
The sad fact is, given the state it is in, the whole Barclay’s Premier League would be more appropriately sponsored by Wonga – that is, if you think Barclay’s has an unblemished record and that there is no basis in accusations of apartheid support, funding Mugabe’s regime, money laundering, tax avoidance and rate fixing scandals which make the pay-day loan sharks look like sprats.
