Davide Santon seems to have settled in really well now on Tyneside, after arriving from Inter-Milan a year last summer, and he’s started the season very well, and has been one of Newcastle’s best players so far, and the lad is still only 21.
Davide Santon – I want to be a success at Newcastle
It’s obvious that Davide can play one either side, and he was very comfortable at right back against Manchester United last Sunday afternoon.
It probably helps Davide settle that he now has a girlfriend at Newcastle, and that always helps things.
Davide has no plans at all to leave Newcastle anytime soon, and he seems to have taken to the area and even promised he’ll be able to talk Geordie by the end of the season.
That’s certainly important news. 😀
This is what Davide told the local press today:
“I am very happy here.” “My aim is to be a success with Newcastle and help the team progress. Everybody is excited here by what the future holds. We are a young team and we are growing together.”
“He is great to work with, he can help me become a better player. His plans are well thought out and this helps us get good results.” “At Inter there were a lot of senior players in the squad. “
“But at Newcastle we are a team of young players who will continue to improve.” “I love the region here. There is so much to do. I hope to be speaking Geordie by the end of the season as well!”
The Evening Chronicle is reporting that his former club Inter Milan are monitoring his progress at Newcastle, would apparently be willing to buy him back if he became available.
We have to hope that Davide can fulfill his vast potential at Newcastle, but from what Davide says he wouldn’t particularly want to return to his home country – that’s very difficult to do when you become a naturalized Geordie – remember there’s no Greggs bakeries in Italy.
Certainly Santon has made an excellent start to this season, and we expect this lad to improve as the season progresses, along with his knowledge and use of the Geordie dialect.

Comment #3Ryan Taylor would have been an important player for the cup team but that would have arguably held back the progress this season of fergie and tav.
Santon is right, with most of our squad under 24 we will only improve with time.

Comment #4He is far better at RB wen he plays LB he can beat his man with ease but has to check back to cross and that spilit second makes all the differce in the PL, If Iam being really honest I think he would even make a far better right winger than defender he has a touch of the gareth bales abt him look what happen to him wen he switched to winger frm defence.

Not really. Yes he kept simmo out for ages in RB and red card lost him that spot.
Not fussed not here to complain, I just think he’s a class player to be around near 1st team

Comment #6Santon looks better and better everytime he plays I also agree with nufc 11 he looks like he would be a good right winger but for now that spot is taken by mr ben arfa who I wouldn’t swap for any other winger in the premier league

Comment #7We should’ve sign Cissokho and Debuchy and stuck Santon on the right wing. Our team would’ve looked like this with just £10.5m spent:
Krul
Debuchy Saylor Coloccini Cissokho
Anita
Santon Cabaye Ben Arfa
Cisse Ba

Comment #10And also 10.5 spent. When debuchy would have been at least 7.5 on his own.
