Pardew Hints At Two Positions He Wants To Strengthen

We all know that it’s not easy for Newcastle to bring in new players to the club, and that’s because Alan Pardew is given so little money to spend.

Alan Pardew – two positions he wants to strengthen?

Graham Carr does an excellent job for the club in finding top young players, who are not particularly on the radar screens of top clubs, and be brought in for small fees.

And Newcastle didn’t have too successful a transfer window in the summer, and we failed to solidify the squad with a top defender and a top striker.

But what Alan Pardew said yesterday can give us some hints as to who may arrive in January.

This is what the Newcastle manager said yesterday:

“The market’s very small for us. We want players better than what we’ve got, and it’s difficult. Right back is an area where there’s a bit of a question mark, as Danny has not signed a contract at this football club.”

“We probably need another centre-back, I think that’s pretty obvious. We were a bit unfortunate not to get one in the last window.”

From those words it seems Newcastle top requirements are a right back and a center-back.

Wonder is we can get Mathieu Debuchy and Douglas through the door in January – and we could probably do that for around £8M.

What do you think?

CB, RB and ST in my opinion. But we have fergie and jonas or jonas and fergie on the left side and santon (moved to RB) i think it’s the strongest combination. I kind of like that braga striker eder. 4 goals in 4 ap..

I actually have had enough of this from the club.

We know what areas we need strengthening

We know who is available and what price we need to pay.

It is simple for me…pay up or shut up.

Although we still have a need for them, 6 months down the line is too late for a right back and a central defender. They should have been bought then.
We may still have been in the League Cup and further up the table at this juncture.
‘Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today’ isn’t one of Ashley’s mottoes when it comes to transfer windows.

Going back to pardew talking about losing players all the time. When he is asked these questions, why doesn’t he just reverse it and say “other clubs should be worried about us taking their stars”. It would show more intent.

For up n coming talent we need to get in on Jores Okore before Man Utd snap him up! Reading different blogs they’re sniffing around for him! If anyone has seen this lad play in the champions league this year then at 20 and potentially only costing £3m then we should be trying to convince the lad! Rumours of Dragovic doing the rounds to and at £5.5m could be worth it

I find it strange when those who don’t actually attend matches feel they can demand the club spend millions on players for their own entertainment.

Pretty indicative of todays ‘This free stuff isn’t good enough’ society.

We offer the tickets in the league, and one of the cheapest season tickets, just to put things in context.

    And Toonboy

Because that would be a lie. 😐 Pardew doesn’t think the fans are idiots – can’t see him pretending that we’re going to make huge transfer moves when we’re obviously not.

Agree with toonboy we should show more intent esp if they are serious about getting into the top 5 on a reg basis. If we say 15 mil for two top defenders so what we have to spend to improve otherwise we will tread water until thenother teams progress. We would reap the benefits cash and all the better we do. So makes sense to spend at this time

Bit harsh a lot of fans cant go to games but that doesnt mean they dont want the best for the team, plus a lot buy sky sports in order to view NUFC which brings in a hell of a lot of revenue

I’m not criticising those who don’t go to games – I only get to a couple a season after all, and of course want the best for the club. I know a lot of people who can only attend home games due to the absolutely brilliant ticket prices, and they don’t seem to be anywhere near as critical as those who sit on the internet all day complaining.

Some comments just come across with such a sense of self entitlement it’s unreal…

I’m not sure how many people buy SS solely just to watch a few Newcastle games every season though. And those that do probably don’t sit around on a blog demanding signings all day.

Maybe it’s just me though. But demanding something in return for nothing is just beyond me.

Aye maybe ur right but for those who dont go to games blogs like this are probably one of the few ways they can feel involved in the club and its easier to pick faults rather than try to see the good (and there is plenty of faults to pick haha)

Some probably are over the top in their wants but most are fairly acceptable (a couple defenders and some depth isnt too much to ask for from a top level club surely?)

Again probably right that people buy SS for more than NUFC but it’d be biggest pull for me to get it

Toondownsouth . There is enough money to spend on a couple of good players every season and it is more warranted when the owner says he wants reg Europe action . You need numbers and quality in that case and I think the manager was rewarded with a long contract yes but was not rewarded for being manager of the year with any money to spend . I mean 3 mill 4 a team that finished 5th is stingey to say the least esp when even the owner knew we needed defenders . So all is well looking 4 quality youth but u need to add to that as well

Get Debuchy and Aldereweild in. We’ll still need 1 cb, 1 lb, 1 am and 2 strikers. If we’re not signing a striker, we’ll need to bring Xisco back into the fray.

Why in the name of god do we need another RB, Weve got Santon who will prove to be a top top RB if given the chance, Anita looked very good their to, not to mention perch, raylor and travs and obertan why do we need another RB? We need a Left midfielder to make competion for Jonas, and we need a CB who can play LB Yanga mbwia wud do and somone like keiron gibbs…

Debuchy is far better than anything we have right now and as Pards says, its obvious we need another CB. Trouble is, will Lardyarse go and get a purple or just shop for yellows and whites?

We should’ve signed Cissokho last season to play left back and move Santon to the right. Santon looks better at right-back. We don’t need a left-winger, we have Gutierrez, Ben Arfa, Ferguson and Marveaux that can play there. We need another attacking midfielder or right-winger and a couple of strikers. That’s where Man Utd have strengthened and that’s why they beat us. We haven’t signed any defenders and that’s our weakest part of the team.
