Alan Pardew is well aware that now Newcastle have some top players, other clubs will be in for them during each transfer window, and in January, with Demba Ba’s release clause in his contract becoming active again, we could even lose the Senegal striker in January.
Demba Ba – release clause active again in January
We hope this doesn’t happen, but unless Newcastle can become a regular top six side, it will happen, and that’s one reason Newcastle must start picking up points before the end of the year.
It must be difficult for the Newcastle manager, knowing he could lose a top player(s) in upcoming transfer windows, and this is what Alan Pardew had to say about the situation:
“At some point, we will lose one of our top players.” “It’s just natural that that’s going to happen, but we want to get a maximum figure for him.”
“And then we’ve got to make sure we bring in two or three that are as good, if not better, than the one we’ve sold. We’ve got to trade up. That’s very, very difficult.”
“With the help of Graham Carr and my team, we ain’t doing a bad job on that front.” “My biggest challenge has been, so far, changing the style of the team to control games in a more effective manner, and bringing the team closer to the top teams.”“That’s been my biggest challenge.” “I think we’ve done that.” “I think we’re respected by the top teams, and now we’ve got to prove we’re in that group by finishing in the top eight, for sure, and hopefully top six.”
Newcastle have done very well over the last two years in bringing some top players into the club at low transfer fees, and the task now is to keep them on board.
Or if we are to lose a player, then we have to make sure it’s big money we get – with the Andy Carroll transfer being the example to follow.

Comment #3Over the last few years look at the players we have lost and then look at the better players that have replaced them!!!! If Cabaye goes then it will be for £30m so we can get a top midfielder + a forward to replace!!

Comment #4It’s inevitable that we will lose players. Anybody know thinks otherwise, or is angry about this needs to get in the real world. As much as I love this club and believe it to be the best place in the world to be, we don’t have the silver wear history and money of lots of other clubs. Loyalty is great – but ultimately money talks. But we have shown that losing our top players isn’t the end of the world with us. A nice win on Sunday could really kick start our season. Cabs, Tiote and Cissé are really yet to start lighting up the season! I can’t wait for when they do. But if Citeh, man Utd, Chelski, Barca or whoever offer big money for any of our players, they will be sold.
….but they will be replaced! We aren’t going to lose ALL our players at once!! One big sell, and we can afford to shut up shop with regards outgoings.
By the way – £20mil for Zaha???? Behave!!

Comment #8“We hope this doesn’t happen, but unless Newcastle can become a regular top six side, it will happen”
Exactly what I’ve been saying since the summer. I don’t subscribe to more money = more success, but ignoring our squad demands over a measly 500k-4m (Ok, measly in top flight football terms) can be the difference between contender and FEEDER CLUB.
If we slip into 8th or 9th spot over the next few years, why would players like Hatem, Ba, Tiote, and Cabaye (France’s MF ffs) want to stay and ignore offers from big clubs? They are all good enough to challenge or walk into starting spots at most big clubs.

Comment #9Sometimes it seems Pardew has been tasked with advertising the fact that if a club wants one of our players there available. Surely we should be looking at offloading the players he thinks aren’t good enough, and adding to the better quality players? Roll on Sunday. We should hopefully have our strongest team out. 2-0 Cisse brace.

Comment #10Why is Pardew always banging on about losing top players? What will be will be.
Why does he continually have to wear, and point to, a For Sale sign round his neck?
Yes it would be nice if a top player goes and we get oodles of millions in to spend on a few new top players.
However we all know that ain’t going to happen.

Comment #11@TorqToon. Think your post is spot on. Arsenal who have way more fire power than us have had this problem with Citeh , Manure and Barcelona all making raids on their talent.

Comment #13I hope Pards is right because if we lose Ba in January, we is stuffed.
Even if Cisse finds his shooting boots, he and Shola aren’t going to see us through until May without outside help.
