Newcastle Need All 3 Points At Sunderland

Newcastle will hope to have Fab Coloccini, Tim Krul, Steven Taylor and Danny Simpson all back for the game against Sunderland,  at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon.

Danny Simpson – we want all 3 points on Sunday

That will improve our starting eleven a lot if those four players can all make it, and we need them back, because we were decidedly second best in our last game against Manchester United, when they took us to the cleaners in those first 25 minutes at St. James’ Park.

Danny Simpson talked about the derby game in the local press today:

“We haven’t done everything different. We know what we’ve got to do,” “It is three points and we need three points.” “We lost the last game, but we have come back after the break and everyone was buzzing and on it because everyone wants to be involved on Sunday.”

“It lifts everyone, everyone raises their game and gives that extra ten per cent in training. The manager doesn’t have to do that much because he knows everyone wants to be involved and he sees how much we want it.” “The last two weeks, it’s all that has been spoken about.”

“Obviously more so this week for the build up. It’s class, we talk about our games and our goals and all the history of it,” “I’ve been lucky to play in four and touch wood I haven’t lost yet.”

“My first one was beating them 5-1 here, I’d just come back from injury and to play in that and to beat them the way we did was class.” “Since that game they’ve been pretty close games, but the 5-1 was definitely my best one.”

Of course Danny Simpson was on loan at Sunderland when Roy Keane was the manager, and he helped them get promoted back to the Premier League in 2007, when he played 14 times for the Black Cats.

We’ll not know whether any of those four will be in the starting eleven until an hour before the kick-off, but we have to hope all four can make it, and that we get a much better performance from the lads, than they gave in their last outing.

We need all 3 points on Sunday.

    It’s anyone’s game this weekend.

Both teams out of form, neither really creating a lot but we have clinical, in form strikers in Ba and fletcher on display.

If both teams play to their best I think we are slightly better. But both teams now have match winning players so we need to be careful not to start slow and let them get on top.

If I just knew the silver supremo would play 4-3-3 I would say it’s a win, but since it probably will be a game of two teams playing 4-4-2 and experiencing the same kind of probems I’ll have to say it can to either way!

For the better part this have been our main problems (there are a lot of good as well):

    – Ba & Cisse together are not a deadly combo
    – We don’t create enought chances to warrant two forwards
    – Cabaye is not as effective in a 4-4-2
    – Benny is neither fish nor bird in this formation
    – Defense is our achilles heel (we need to keep the ball out of defense)
    – We can’t keep possesion
    – We end up hoofing the ball too much because of all of the above 🙂

    * We can talk about of strong points after the Sunderland game 😉 lol

Just keep giving the ball to Benny – they won’t like it up ’em.

If we play 4-3-3 we win. Team should be krul, Simpson. Taylor, colo, santon, tiote, cabaye, Gutierrez, Ba, Ben Arfa and Shola.

Gutierrez can play in the midfield 3, Ba left, Ben Arfa right and Shola through the middle. Shola always plays well against the mackems and his physical presence and pumped up attitude will occupy the centre backs leaving Ba and Ben Arfa to drift into dangerous areas enabling their technical qaulity to shine.

We might have a chance of getting 3 points if you’re not playing Danny.
