Shola Ameobi Starts – Steven Taylor On Bench

12:36 pm, Sunday, October 21st, 2012 by Ed Harrison · 302 Comments

The big news is that Shola Ameobi – the Sunderland slayer – starts for Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear derby away at Sunderland this afternoon.

And Mike Williamson keeps his place with Fab Coloccini coming back into the side at center-back, so that’s a bit of a shock that local lad Steven Taylor is on the bench.

Tim Krul resumes his place in goal and Danny Simpson comes back in at right back.

We have to assume that Mike Williamson’s has been looking good in training and of course he’s been solid for Newcastle in recent games.

It’s not a huge surprise that Shola starts, and he comes in for Papiss Cisse, who is on the bench.

Newcastle have a strong side out today, and we have to hope they can deliver the goods and beat Sunderland – that’s the only result we want to see at 3:30pm this afternoon.

For Sunderland, Steven Fletcher and Adam johnson both start, and former Newcastle loan player Louis Saha is on the bench.

Danny Rose is also in the side, after his trials and tribulations in Slovakia earlier this week, where he received some disgraceful racial abuse.

The referee for the game is Martin Atkinson from Yorkshire.

Howay The Lads!!

    Awful choice

  • 2 Tooooon // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:38 PM

HAHA this post made me laugh – http://www.readytogo.net/smb/showthread.php?t=737527

I definitely would have started Shola, he’s a legend and he will DESTROY the mackems with his breathe!

  • 3 leeb1982 // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:38 PM

Ohh my god mike the donkey Williamson.

  • 4 nimo // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:39 PM

Williamson over Taylor.. bad choice, a 90% fit Taylor is better.

  • 5 lucasnufc // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:40 PM

HOW is it an awful choice? Please point to me a game where Ba and Cisse have played well together

  • 6 tomellifred360 // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:41 PM

Oi, lads. Be positive please! Support the lads, not slag them off.
I hope Shola and Mike have magnificent matches.

  • 7 rainrix // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:42 PM

And the neggars appear, well thats the signal for us in Optimist valley to disappear. Toon toon adios :)

  • 8 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:42 PM

Apart from the defense. I am happy with that team.

I know Ameobi is not everyone’s cup of tea, but what he does, he does pretty good. I.e winning flick ons and holding the ball.

Both him and Ba had a dominating performance against United and worked well together. Strolla’s flick on, and his off the ball play to help win that free kick (pulling the defenders away).

I also think Cisse is not yet up to par with last season’s performances, and think that opting for the Mackem slayer in this scenario was the wiser choice.

My only concerns is that Williamson has started ahead of Staylor/Perch. I can see fletcher running circles around him.

  • 9 toonLYF // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:43 PM

wouldn’t say it’s an “awful choice”. I think it’s a thoughtful team, and a very strong looking bench with players like Cisse, Obertan and Anita who can come on, offer us pace and danger in the box; and in effect make a potentially much needed difference. Shola had to start really, only thing that surprises me is Taylor, but i’m sure he’s gutted. If he’s not 100% fit there’s no point in sending him out into an intense match. Adrenaline would probably get him through, but i’d rather have him fully fit to play against two very strong teams in Club Brugge and West Brom next week.

  • 10 Lee Dodd // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:43 PM

I would say That is a Good Newcastle Line Up. Steven Taylor as Sub is a Good back up. He is not match fit yet !!!! Cisse as Super Sub . We will Tonk Sunderland Today Just Watch !!!! A screamer from Cabaye a Cracker from H.B.A and A third from Shola !!!! Sunderland will get a Penalty But Miss it !!! Howay The Lads !!!!

  • 11 therush12 // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:43 PM

    @6 well said!!!

  • 12 santonthenewmaldini // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:43 PM

Look Williamson playing with Colo is a good choice as he plays well with Colo’s presence if Taylor is not fit it might not be a good idea to play him as he has been rusty this season and it will calm the game down especially after his stupid comments which will make Sunderland even more determined!!!

Was the right call to put Simpson into this one as the boy likes a scrap and hopefully he gets stuck into that Mclean early doors!!

Bit worried we are playing 442 again as it looks like they will start with 5 in midfield and 1 up front which means we might get outnumbered in midfield!

Shola and Ba to score in a 2 1 victory

  • 13 obatoyou // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:44 PM

About to start work, will watch game at home later, don’t tell me the score pls ;) HOWaY the lads!!!!

  • 14 DevonMag // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:45 PM

What’s the likelihood Pardew dropped Taylor because of his comments midweek? Annoying, tbh, he’s in my fantasy team…

  • 15 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:45 PM

Great to see shola start hoped he would! Need him even more so if taylors not fit need someone on the pitch who bleeds newcastle

    Nimo
He taylor maybe be better at 90% than wilo but given his injury history would you risk him if he’s not fully fit for one game and risk loosing him for god knows how long or rest him for one more game

  • 16 tomellifred360 // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:46 PM

Have a feeling their defence will be focused on Shola.
Therefore, lots of time and space for Demba.

the lad was made for this game, has played well wenever hes played this season aswell, links up brilliant with ba

    yeeeeeehaaaaaa!!

think I need a bucket of water chucked over me

  • 20 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:47 PM

I wonder if Rose is in the right frame of mind for the game today. If he isn’t, Ben arfa will waste no time in dominating that side of the pitch

  • 21 MagPieMan // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:47 PM

I wonder if Taylor on he bench because of his interview

  • 22 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:48 PM

I wonder what would happen if both Ameobi’s were to play.

    Strolla the Mackem Slayer,
    Sammy the ???

  • 23 BelfastMagpie // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:48 PM

    Gardner at rb for them.

Surely Ben Arfa has to play on the left?

  • 24 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:49 PM

Lose and I’m starting the drum-beating, for Pardwho to take to the chopping block.

  • 25 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:49 PM

Well Benny tends to drift so at some point he will attack from the left.

    Mackem team:
Sunderland: Mignolet, Gardner, Rose, O’Shea (C), Cuellar, Colback, Larsson, Johnson, McClean, Sessegnon, Fletcher.

  • 26 obatoyou // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:50 PM

*throws bucket of water at Gateshead_mag* pull yourself together man, we r @war!!! Got to head up to the floor deal some blackjack, good luck and enjoy.

  • 27 seancavaz // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:50 PM

Willo to score from a Cabaye corner, Ameobi obviously to bundle one in, to then go off injured only to be replaced by an angry Cisse, fletcher gets fouled by Tiote in the box, results in an outbreak of scuffles, Tiote laughs as he gets another yellow, resulting penalty ends up in the stands! Punt from Krul, flicked on by Ba to the on rushing Ben Arfa, skips passed three wild challenges, flicks it over to Cisse, chest, knee, bang, underside of the bar! Screamer! 0-3……if carlberg did derbies! Lol

  • 28 BelfastMagpie // Oct 21, 2012 at 12:51 PM

I wanted Shola to start like.

Cisse has been crap this season so far.

tads if it was JUST 1 game then yeah but this isn’t Just 1 game.. its the game, win it could ignite our season.. lose and the whole city on a downer

  • 35 catchy in norway // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:00 PM

im gutted for cisse,, he is losing out because of pardews poor tactics in previous games,,,

cisse and ba are both good goal scorers, shola isnt,, the problem has been the lack of chances created for them to score,,,

every week the team has played way to deep,, lets hope we play football in scumderlands half, and create something

  • 36 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:01 PM

    Nimo
What if we lose him for the season?
Stevie taylor starting + not bieng match fit/slightly off the pace = red card or long term injury!

  • 39 catchy in norway // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:04 PM

with both willamson and shola in the team,, its a long ball game,, again

    i hope not

  • 40 Ashton // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:05 PM

We will be playing with a 442 formation. It might work today because we have Shola who is a good target man and is suited to the 442 but in the long run 442 is not the way forward and I just can’t fathom why Pardew insists on playing with this formation!

  • 41 Geordiedoonsooth // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:05 PM

Can’t see us winning with Williamson at CB he just isn’t PL standard think we will do well to get a draw

  • 42 Ashton // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:07 PM

Also Scumderland’s midfield is ridiculously inferior to ours so it might work(442) today.

  • 43 toonbrother // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:10 PM

Besides Colocinni This is a good line up. Great thinking Pardew

  • 44 catchy in norway // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:11 PM

    Ashton /

    it is

but it depends on where pardew has our midfield playing

  • 45 WWYCD // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:12 PM

Get in big Sho up top goals goal goals!

Stupidly excited! Will miss the first half but should see the second without a problem!

Saylor on the bench is probably to do with his well being injury prone and slagged off the entire Sunderland team, not a bright bulb is he?

Toon Toon! Christ I missed the NUFC buzz!

  • 46 nimo // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:12 PM

willo could then take us to Jan.. hardly like willo isn’t prone to a red too slow and not strong enough for fletcher.. still confident though think ameobi and ba will do the business. shola is right choice even if he is better of the bench

  • 47 niafron // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:13 PM

    Nice to be here again.

Well, the international break was fascinating (especially for France), but two weeks without a Newcastle’s game is a bit long.

  • 48 nimo // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:15 PM

catchy he isn’t losing out because of pards tac tics he’s loosing out as he’s been poor and sholas the mackem slayer

  • 49 BigKirky // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:17 PM

That Santon interview is on Radio Newcastle right now. Saying he likes to cut in from left but can play either side. He’s been asked when he’s going to score and laughing, knowing he has to score.

  • 52 bills-son // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:18 PM

Shola has looked very good this season, he is full of confidence and I bet he loves the mackem slayer tag. Ive got a feeling we could win this 2 or 3 nil.

  • 53 Novocastrian66 // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:19 PM

Disappointed Cisse is not playing. Sunderland are set up at the back 4 a physical battle. They would not be able to cope with the movement of Cisse and he is a class finisher.
Shola always raises his game against the Albanians but he isn’t as good as Cisse.

  • 54 check the toastie // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:20 PM

Cisse hasnt been poor he has been starved of service as Pardew seems incapable to set the team up to keep the ball and create proper decent chances. Shola suits Pardews long ball tactics, more than Cisse in this game for sure.

Would have certainly not played Simpson, no height and no presence, how he is still at the club i have no idea. Perchinho for me. Wonder at what point Pardew changes formation, give it 15 minutes.

  • 55 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:21 PM

    Bills
Sholas been on cracking form doubt theres anyone more up for this game than him

  • 56 BigKirky // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:21 PM

On another plus, we have the quality which Cisse can bring us for the bench. So nervous!

  • 57 WWYCD // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:22 PM

We are this excited imagine how Sholas feeling getting to start ahead of Cisse in the enemy’s back yard bet he can’t sit still haha

I pray to God he is on pens though, best taker in the prem imo and he’s sure to get his chance at some point!

  • 58 bills-son // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:23 PM

Just seen O’Neill’s interview, he looked as nervous as hell, total contrast to Pardew, let’s hope the players reflect their manager.

  • 59 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:24 PM

    WWYCD
Dont even think tiote would be stupid enough to argue with shola if we won a pen and he picked the ball up!

  • 60 Mister Tuff // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:24 PM

I hope since the Man u game that the coaching staff have explained to Williamson what a runner is and showed him some video.
If Ba can read Sholas’ flicks today we may be ok.

  • 61 nimo // Oct 21, 2012 at 1:25 PM

check have you even see us when we played perch right back weve been dominated down that side.. simo has kept mcclean in his pocket last few games so im happy with him there…
cisse in my opinion has been poor how is it baiis scoring and he isn’t sorry but not down to tac tics at all… we have been long ball but that’s cos willo can’t play a pass

Ok. No use crying over spilt milk. I have a formatino that could work: 4-3-2

    Simmo out for I-dunno-whos-on-the-bench-today-but-a-defensive-cm-will-do

Santon Jonas wing back, Colo Willo center back, DM Cabs CM, HBA AMC, Shola Ba FW.

    How that sound?

well 1-0 ahead but down to ten men pardew made a big mistake starting tiote, not that i would not have started him but refs can make it so easy to send him off in derbies.

  • 149 check the toastie // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:22 PM

as predicted this morning Atkinson has sent Tiote off, he lasted longer than the predicted 15 minutes mind you.

I would just like to add Simpson has had a decent half, well done lad, so has Willo, Jonas has been terrible like.

  • 150 toonking // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:23 PM

what i like best so far about this game is cabayes scoring might be what returns the cabaye we saw last season.

  • 151 catchy in norway // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:24 PM

ref is a homer for sure in this game,,

letis was being kind to us at the start,, he normally hates us, but as the game is wearing on,, he is turning red and white,,

think we a re playing well, jonas is not the player he was,, and he isnt get the free kicks he used to ,, offering very little going forward

  • 152 bills-son // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:24 PM

That was defo a red,Tiote went in with his foot up deliberately in a rage, he/we cant complain. Some refs might have given a yellow but you lose your cool like that and you cant complain if you get a red.

    Collo magnificent.

  • 153 thebionicMAG // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:24 PM

No way was that a red card. Look at Tiotes eyes…they never leave the ball. He’s trying to control the ball after being hauled back. The hauling puts him off balance. He gos for the ball but scumberland player gets to it first. The Ref is a spineless twat.

  • 154 BelfastMagpie // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:25 PM

It was defo a red like.

No need to even make the challange.

    Stupid.

  • 156 h0sta // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:26 PM

never a red card…referee blow whistle just in time tiote tried to block that clearence ..it wasn´t after game was stoped…and that comentators… “how he could do that”…”its always going to be red” bla bla they don´t know what to talk about so they speak rubish :)

  • 157 lukes26 // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:26 PM

    First half thoughts….

Tiotes sending off was a bit harsh, but he has his reputation which is preceding him everywhere he goes. Hard to blame the ref. Tiote does need to change. I feel the same way with Suarez, next dive and he should be shown red.

Ameobi paired with Ba is a revelation. He seems to have become complete player at 30.

  • 158 WWYCD // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:27 PM

  • 162 bills-son // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:30 PM

Guys, the ball was on the deck, there was absolutely no need for Tiote to have his studs two feet off the deck. Any NUFC fan saying that wasn’t a stupid stupid tackle by Tiote and a defo red is being totally biased. If Fletcher had his foot planted that was a leg breaker.

  • 163 jesperfuglsang // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:30 PM

Belfast…I really have to disagree with you there mate. There is no malic in that tackle and Tiote was in possesion.

It is a yellow no doubt; has to be whether is was an accident or not, but it is not a red card :-)

…you would probably had throw Larsson out as well ;-)

I love tiote im glad he plays for newcastle but this guy has seriously ruined our game today and needs to apolgise to the fans.

Even if some people say it wasnt a red card he had no reason to that and a more level headed player wouldnt of done that.

we were in control of the game and even if sunderland scored i always felt we had another goal in the locker im unsure now with just demba ba up front.

if we dont win this game its tiotes fault simple as.

i loved the start of the game but its put a bad taste in my mouth now as i feel we are going to be under severe pressure against them in the 2nd half mark my words they will score now but do we have enough going forward now with just 1 striker up front to score a 2nd?

  • 167 Wandering Geordie // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:32 PM

  • 168 thebionicMAG // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:33 PM

Two feet off the ground? Billson are you watching the same game as me? There is a big difference in two feet forward off the ground i.e. like a long jumper, and what Tiote was doing…i.e. normal stride. He did not have two feet off the ground. Look at his eyes…they NEVER come off the ball…yellow yes cause it was clumsy…Red no way. Ex Chelsea scum Ray Wilkins even said it was pre medicated…tosser.

  • 169 bills-son // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:33 PM

  • 170 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:33 PM

    Jesp
I agree that it wasnt intentional but it was a reckless challange if the scums lad had his foot on the deck it would of snapped his shin, dont agree with the commentators saying play had stopped though it was a second between the whistle and the challenge

  • 171 shirtonapole tinooo // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:33 PM

Shame about tiote, def can be given but think in a derby the ref should let that go…
Tbf I’d probably think differently if it was the other way around ;)
    Attack, attack, attack!!!!!!

  • 172 nick_9 // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:34 PM

I actually think that tiote was harsh to be sent off there, considering what had gone unpunished previously and it looked as though he just swung at the ball and missed. I think a three game ban for that challenge is harsh and detrimental to the team.

The ref is without doubt a home team ref so we need to be careful, cabaye especially. Could have been an entertaining game but despite the lead surely they are favourites now?

As for ray Wilkins and Quinn what a load of garbage. Ray Wilkins claiming tiote hit him 3ft up? He guy is a joke and needs to bore off back to the Adams family

  • 173 AsprillaCartWheels // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:34 PM

  • 174 santonthenewmaldini // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:34 PM

    For Fooksake!!

You wait ages for Tiote to nurse himself back from injury and he does something like this…. even though it was a foul his foot is way way too high!!!We really should be looking at moving him out now and getting Anita or Bigi into the side to punish him

We were in COMPLETE control and would have won 2 or 3 nil quite easily now its going to be a nail biter of a 2nd half!!

  • 175 lukes26 // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:35 PM

I hate it when they pair a Cockney commentator with a Posh /wry commentator ….I always watch the game like some sort of Pygmalion commentary.

  • 176 niafron // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:35 PM

Tiote is very late in his tackling. So he was at risk. The ref was behind him so he wasn’t seeing him looking the ball.

For me, it was a yellow, but it’s difficult to complain.

  • 177 toonarmydownsouth // Oct 21, 2012 at 2:37 PM

That was not willo’s fault. I blame us for over committing for the free kick before that.

    jonas should be dropped!

  • 266 Super Magpie // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:24 PM

Can’t fault the effort today from the lads. Even if Tiote’s red card was debatable he’s cost us the game IMO. I hope the team and Pardew let him know that.

  • 268 check the toastie // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:24 PM

Jonas legs have gone, should now be used off the bench, has offered nothing at all today, barring helping Santon out a bit,

Well done lads, back 4 were super, Willo, Collo, Santon and even Simmo, we were unlucky, but good graft and no defeat for our ten men, seriously need a win next week though.

  • 269 jukitsu // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:24 PM

Little disappointed for just 1p, but happy with our defensive display and that we had full steam rolling from the star.

How did BA score an own goal?

ANS: Ask Williamson. Where was his marking???
    Just look at the video!

  • 274 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:27 PM

Even down to 10 men, the mackems can’t beat us, let alone score for themselves. Unfortunate for Ba to get that own goal.

I really think Newcastle should consider selling Tiote. His recklessness has cost us 2 points today, and it won’t be the last time he goes in for a reckless challenge. With young Bigri showing lots of promise in the same position, I feel it would be better to cash in on tiote and buy 2-3 players depending on how much we get for him.

Simply Put, Tiote is a liability.

  • 275 Ruddy Marveaux-lous // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:27 PM

Cheers Tiote, was in complete control until you pulled your usual stunts, but actually got pulled up on it.

Sooner our fans quit idolising him and recognise him for what he is, the better. Love if we could still cajole 15m out of somebody for him – asap!

  • 276 euanpolo // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:28 PM

Is it too much to ask for to have a decent referee?! We would have won easily if it wasn’t for Martin Atkinson bloody joke of a referee.

  • 277 MagPieMan // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:28 PM

Collocini and Williamson were fantastic today. Simpson had a good game and perch did some fantastic tackles when he came on. Not happy with the result though.

  • 278 BigKirky // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:28 PM

For playing all but 25mins with 10 men away from home in a derby we’ve done really well. What is the ref doing with some of the fouls? The tackle from behind on Demba which was a couple of yards outside their box was blatant. As was the deflection from our corner which was goal bound. If Tiote had played full game we’d have won that. Big shame he followed through.

  • 279 WWYCD // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:28 PM

Away from home with 10 men we did a good jobs as far as am concerned. Can only point the finger at Tiote for the loss tbh

  • 280 MagPieMan // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:29 PM

Just looking forward to Thursday now.

  • 281 Rotonda heights // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:29 PM

Well we couldn’t quite hang on but what a great effort by Colo and company.

Just a tragedy Colo couldn’t stay on for the last 10 because I think we would have made it. Really gutted.

To last so long against 11 men, I think it proves once and for all we are so much better just playing 1 up front and having an extra body in the middle either in 451 or 433 or 4231.

I worry about Tiote now, I love him but I think he’s becoming a liability and maybe Bigi or Anita would stay on the park for 90 mins.

  • 282 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Larsson almost kicks Ameobi in the head and isn’t even carded.

  • 283 toonking // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:30 PM

well todays draw is much more like a positive draw pardew’s only mistake was probably tiote starting, but he would have likely got stick if tiote was on the bench and we lost so really it was a no win situation for pardew and he just had to hope tiote was sensible.

my main hope is colo’s still fit for next game.

  • 284 bills-son // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:30 PM

Willo brilliant today and Ba could have nicked it. I doubt any team has conceded as many deflected goals as us. Great battling team performance.

  • 287 euanpolo // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:31 PM

People moaning at Tiote 1) it wasn’t a red card his foot was off the ground but he wasn’t stamping with it, 2) He’s only been sent off once before which isn’t bad for a midfield enforcer. We are a much poorer side without him.

  • 288 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:32 PM

@Toonking. I think Colo is fine. I reckon Pardew took him off so as to not risk aggrevating what ever it was he picked up. On top of that he just came back from Injury so asking him to play a full 90 minutes under the circumstances may have been asking too much.

Taking him off and making sure he didn’t worsen any potential injury and giving Saylor some game time was the safer and wiser thing to do.

  • 289 wreker16 // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:34 PM

Not a red card? Did we see the same “tackle”

  • 291 BigKirky // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:35 PM

Notice the 3 pronged attack with Cabaye as a high up midfielder for our goal.

  • 292 BelfastMagpie // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:35 PM

Im as biased as the next fan,but It was defo a red card lol

If Fletcher was standing still it was a broken leg.

    WWYCD

I agree, I said that before.
I can’t fault the effort from the team today, if we had’ve kept 11 men on the pitch I reckon we would’ve won 3-0 . Tiote has been building that up for weeks I knew it was only a matter of time before he got sent off.

Tiote has let the team down and the fans down today. He needs to grow up and realise that he can’t be as wreckless as he is.

  • 294 LGFUAD21 // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:36 PM

    davis_toons

    EAT SH!T your pecker.

Willo had a fantastic game for us today. Him and Colo were our best players.

How about instead of showing a biased opinion (much like Mr Atkinson today) you actually re watch that game and see how many goals he prevented.

    #clueless

I knew Tiote would get a red today. Had a feeling. He has looked frustrated recently and its come out in aggression.

We tried our best to hold on to our lead. But in a game of that intensity it is difficult. Just be thankful for the point.

And i woudlnt sell Tiote. He just needs a good talking to. He is far too angry atm. And Colback played on that anger.

On Pardew. He played some great mind games hyping up Mclean. I have a feeling it forced Scumderland to put everything to Johnson in the first half. Who we had in our pocket.

Cabaye was much better today. Still not quite there. But he was felt more on the field.

Shame Tiote got send off cos Shola gave us a huge stability with possession

  • 295 ~Anita One Bites the Dust~ // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:36 PM

    Euanpolo

Thats not the point. Yes we are a better side with him, but there is also that risk of him getting sent off/suspended for too many Yellows. He is a liability and if we can sell him, get someone of same quality but more sensible, would it not be in our favor?

Its all good saying he makes us better, but if he gets sent off like he did today, is it worth it?.

  • 296 Marty-Toon // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:37 PM

Tiote deserved red but then Larsson shoulda got the same for the challenge on Shoa

  • 297 HullMag6 // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:37 PM

  • 300 catchy in norway // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:45 PM

dissapointed with a point really, if im honest

first 27 mins we was magnificent,

no problems at all with the red card,, some times i wonder if tiote is just a thug, because there was no need at all for that,, he is a marked man anyway, why add to his reputation

iv still got a huge problem with jonas playing 90 mins for us,, he is offering less and less with each game,, dont think we have a left side now for attacking,, when i think back on how many times he helped santon with johnson,, it wasnt many,, cabaye helped him most,,

sunderland where poor today,, they will struggle to score goals,,

felt sorry for damba by him self up front,, had 3 on him at all times,

dont like willamson, but dont blame him for the goal, he made the right choice for a player of his level, take the card and regroup

colo was outsanding,,best player on the pitch,,

wont say anything about pardew,, hate him , but he was forced to play that way today,,

  • 301 BigKirky // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:46 PM

Tiote has obviously let the team down today, but in my opinion he’s still excellent at what he does, breaking up opposition play and instilling some grit into our team and is one of the best around at doing that. These type of players get red carded, it happens. How many red cards did Roy Keane get? Keane is one of the best players to play in the Premier League. Yes, it’s unfortunate and yes he’s let the team down, but for me he’s a valuable part of our team. Dunno why people are so fickle and reactive over individual incidents. Tiote is a quality player.

  • 302 BigKirky // Oct 21, 2012 at 3:52 PM

As we already knew, Colo is invaluable.
