MOTM colo for sure he is by far our best defender and no wonder we had been so poor recent games.

surely cant be anyone else. Benny a good 2nd thought he did well with his defensive duties. Pity with chiek this guy is such a general in the midfield but you cannot do that in the premier league unfortunately he let us down today.

Easily Colo, we would have slaughtered them with 11. Poor, poor ref.

Feel sorry for Ameobi who feels so passionate about this game. Tiote’s tackle worth a yellow not red.
We played well, and created clearer chances even with 10 men.
Cabaye is back to his very best, full of running and Williamson and Colocini are the best player on the park. Extremely solid and compose.

I agree, I said that before.
I can’t fault the effort from the team today, if we had’ve kept 11 men on the pitch I reckon we would’ve won 3-0 . Tiote has been building that up for weeks I knew it was only a matter of time before he got sent off.

Tiote has let the team down and the fans down today. He needs to grow up and realise that he can’t be as wreckless as he is.

i wasnt able to wake up for the entire game today (i live in los angeles california, game starts at 4:30am) so i couldnt see the goals or tiote getting sent off live.
but after seeing the recap i have to say that when tiote got sent off it was rediculous, he should have gotten a yellow at the worst, he didnt go studs up on purpose, he was trying to control the ball.
the refs totally piss me off…

Pardew accepts Tiote was a sending off – he should be fined imo. Fkn ridiculous tackle and if anyone was going to lose his head it was Tiote. If I was a Toon player I’d be bawling him out.

Even though we drew, we still have the bragging rights. They couldn’t beat us with 10 men and the only goal they scored was an own goal, plus they had almost no chances, the only one I can remember is the Saha one that went wide.

Tend to agree with that tbh I hope Shola went down the tunnel and told him exactly what he thought.

Colo and Willo for MOTM, went with Willo because he’s the unpopular choice really

I’m surprised you lot aren’t more gutted. I know a derby point with 10 men for so long sounds acceptable but Pardew’s subs were so passive he handed them the incentive. Should have held his nerve until half time – shola dropping deeper to win more aerial battles. Then the goal came immediately after the switch.

Not normally one to criticise AP, but those subs were like waving white flags when we should have just kept things steady and let them open us up. The fist pump at the end was pretty telling.

As for Tiote – on the borderline, hardly a scandalous decision – so no point moaning about it.

The whole team played well today. Hard to pick the best out of everyone. They really wanted to win this today and you could tell.
I’ll go for Colo because he was the only one who didn’t hoof it when he got the ball. He was also absolutey fantastic at blocking, intercepting and keeping the whole team organised.

Pardew also got one over on MON today. Tactically outclassed him and if it wasn’t for Tiote getting sent off it would’ve been an embarrassment.

Colo for me top quality and I cant help but think had he stayed on 1-0. Their goal was very poor, scored by us for them. Shocking sending off decision, tiote went by reputation, laughable when you think of the head high kick on shola. We need o learn to go to ground when we are getting pulled about.

Ketsy can’t even get on simmo or willo’s case today, I am betting the Pannini man will not show his typeface today ha ha.

All round great performance, we deserved to win today simply because we were a superior team full stop. They will be torn to shreds when they come to ours and they know it, I cant wait to take my seat for that one, it has a 5-0 written all over it.

    HOWAY THE LADS!

the result from todays game might be the thing that sets us alight and gets us going, providing colo saylor and krul stay fit and simmo does not get distracted with contract we won’t need to worry about defence also it might along with cabaye scoring his first away goal start bring his agression back and surely now we will have much less hoofball.

In context, Tiote was being held by a scum player which allowed the ball to run away, this created a 50-50 situation with another scum player and he was sent off.

The Ref took too long to blow and created the situation, if you say Tiote should have heard the whistle and stopped, so should the scum player. Therefore, shouldn’t the scum player have been booked for trying to kick the ball away after the whistle.

Colo is class. Really got the game going. What a player he is. Its a privilege he plays for us. Setting the example on his returning from injury, I think very few players got such influence on the pitch as him. And at this moment more than work we need motivation. Him, Cabaye and a few international players should instill the confidence by raising their games just as Colo did.

Tsunki agree on HBA altho sometimes he needs to release the ball quicker when we are countering. Tiote red was predictable and his stock is sinking fast this season imo. Am I just biased or did the whole sky sports commentary and punditry seem incredibly pro Mackem. Collo is the classiest defender I have ever seen in a black n white shirt and I am 34 years old. Said on here last night I thought he would be immense for us today and he didn’t let us down. Cabaye’s dead ball delivery has been pants this season and yet another one lead to Willo having to make a good foul that ultimately lead to their flukey goal. Happy with our defence but we are lacking a creative edge in the final third and need a more direct winger with a final product.

Tiote was unlucky today. How the ref gave it I don’t know. He was behind the incident. Unlike when Larsson assaulted Sholas throat with his studs showing high tackle, right in front of him. Colo was outstanding today, as was Cabaye. HBA was his usual self, one moment fantastic, the next disappointing. The makems were poor and we should have won, even with ten against 12.

Dissapointed with the ref today. Absolutely no cosistency whatsoever. It’s a Derby game, you should expect a bit of feistyness. Tiote was being mailed like mad but was focused entirely on the ball. When someone cuts inside you when your already trying to get the ball its impossible to withdraw your foot. Although the late goal marred it for us, you gotta Be happy how the team played. We flew out of the blocks dominating till the sending off and defended resolutely for the rest of the match. Colo was fantastic.
