Cheick Tiote will keep playing for Newcastle during his three match suspension from the Premier League, after his sending off on Sunday, and he is likely to start on Thursday night at St. James’ Park against Club Brugge in the Europa League.
Martin Atkinson sends off Cheick Tiote at Sunderland
Cheick will now miss the home games with West Brom and West Ham and the away game at Anfield, but he’ll be available for the two games against Club Brugge – at home on Thursday night and in Belgium on November 8th.
It’s likely that Papiss Cisse, who was an unused substitute on Sunday, with Shola Ameobi being preferred in the starting line-up, will also start that game.
Shola was substituted by James Perch in the first half after Tiote was dismissed, and the Nigerian-born striker will likely start the game alongside Cisse.
We’d be surprised if Fabricio Coloccini plays on Thursday night, after he left the game on Sunday after 79 minutes, and maybe Williamson and Steven Taylor, or even Taylor and James Perch will start the game in central defense.
Newcastle play West Brom on Sunday at home, so there’s a good chance we can get two successive wins under our belts.
A win against Club Brugge on Thursday night will give us 7 points from our first three European games, and we’ll look good to get through the group stages of that competition to the knock-out rounds.

Use this time to bring Tiote back to earth with a bang… drop him whilst he is suspended in the league to hopefully teach him the harsh lesson he need, I really want to see Amalfitano get a start

hba had a quiet game against sunderbland so i would give him a run out for say 60min which is enough time to get the lead in very important game. if we get win then we are through the group stage…well almost…
