Newcastle will play Club Brugge tomorrow night in Group D of the Europa League, and it will be interesting to see which team Alan Pardew selects, although we have to think that Cheick Tiote and Papiss Cisse will both start against the Belgian side.
Shane Ferguson – likely to start on left wing tomorrow night
Club Brugge are currently top of the Belgian league, but the Newcastle manager will still give some of his youngsters and fringe players a game against the Belgian club.
Alan said he has an idea of which team he will start tomorrow:
“I have a team in my mind for Brugge.” “It will be very similar to the one selected to play Bordeaux.” “That’s the best clue I can give you.”
The Newcastle manager will want to give a game to some of his fringe players while resting players for the important game against West Brom at home on Sunday.
Here’s a possible starting eleven:
Harper
Tavernier Perch Taylor(S) Anita
Obertan Tiote Bigirimana Ferguson
Cisse Ameobi (Sh)
That’s our best effort at the team.
Which starting eleven do you think the manager will choose for tomorrow’s important game?

Comment #45I was just listning to the radio (here in DK) 🙂 tomorrow is Danish music day, which means the radion is only playing Danish music (not nessesarily in danish but by a danish band) 🙂
…you can support this great day by only playing danish music tomorrow (your radio won’t be any help unless you have internet radio – Danish P3) Grooveshark can be advised for anyone interested!!!

Aye, Forster was tremendous, he made two point-black saves from Messi in the 6 yard box. He’s a unit, but he’s not as good as Krul to be fair, and it would’ve been either him or Krul.
Good to see a fairly local lad that came from Newcastle playing in such big games and doing himself justice aswell. He should be back-up to Joe Hart, not Ruddy or Butland.

Comment #47Rainrix…Didn’t see it, but was hoping they would hold out. From all accounts they gave a really good showing on themselves, which at the Nou Camp is no easy accomplishment.
Jesper….Sounds like I’ll have the blue van and ravoenettes on replay tomorrow then….
So, is everyone feeling fairly confident about tomorrows game?
Brugge beat Maritamos at home and lost to Bordeaux away, not sure what indication that gives us really. Anyone know much about them? It’s a home fixture, so we need to be going for the 3 points (which would leave us sitting pretty well after 3 games)…so far so good on the Europa front.

All i know is they have some extremely physical CB’s, a striker who is faster than both Obertan and Santon (eerily quick) and a bit of a midfield maestro in Ofoe. Unsure about playing style, but they’re a more than decent team and will give us a game. I’d say they’re on par with Bordeaux-ish.
Very young, hungry looking team.

Comment #52I think with the right balance and tactics we should be able to get all three points against Brügge (nothing should be taken for granted though…especially not with Tiote in the team 😉 lol)

Comment #54I would like to see Xisco involved at some point, we are paying his wages, so why not utilise him in the rotation policy.
Might as well play Mr T. as he will be suspended for EPL.
I plump for:
_________Elliot
Tav__Saylor___Perch___Anita
_Oba___Tiote_Abeid___Marv
_______Cisse_Strolla
Subs:
Harper, Fergi, Willo, Bigi, Sammy, Xisco, Campbell

Tiote definitely needs to be in there. Perhaps a slight “blessing in disguise” that he will be playing as i imagine Perch and Anita would’ve started otherwise, and there’s a risk of getting bullied against this lot, judging by the size of some of their defenders, and some of the agression they show in midfield.

Comment #59I would play a mixture of first team regulars (in need of more playing time) and those normally on the bench and the odd surprise:
Krul
Tavernia – Saylor – Colo – Fergie
Amalfitano – Anita – Cabaye – Marveaux
Cisse – Xisco
Subs: Harper, Simpson, Perch, Tiote, Shola, Jonas

Comment #63Slank…I think we need Colo on Sunday more than tomorrow. He got a very good run out at the weekend and don’t think he would personally benefit from this game. Given our lack of pace in defense, we will need his astute reading of the game and positioning sense to deal with West Brom.
Does anybody know anything about this extra payment deal with Xisco based on number of games played?

Comment #71Jesper…The reports are that we would need to pay his original club an extra fee if he played X amount of games. Just not sure if it was a rumour or not, and if not, how many games and how much money?
That would be my main hesitance to play him really. Don’t think he brings anything more to the table really that would make spending more money worth while.

Comment #79@rainrix – I too pray we don’t get crushed by godly belgian football but we shouldn’t write off Club Brugge.
They are well versed and well travelled in the world of European Football being a regular Champions League team before their recent blip.
We wil def have a game on our hands, winnable yes, but a good game I reckon. The have a fast as lightening forward line and a decent all round team.
As for Belgian football as a whole, am I missing something or are they not poised to do “a Spain” with the quality of Footballer they are currently producing, I’m having a bet on them for the next world cup!
Dembelle / Mirallas / Lukaku / Hazard x2 / Fellaini / Mertens / Vertonghen / Alderwierld (and Mingolet!)
That’s just off the top of my head – I’m sure they’re others but most of that list would walk straight into our team…

I can understand why you didn’t get into it, i felt in two minds for about the first 4-5 episodes (around 4 and a half hours viewing time) – but i’m so glad i stook at it.
It’s a slow starter, and some episodes are entirely dialogue, and literally nothing of action happens. Then others where 4-5 people of note will be killed. It’s very spontaneous seeming, and ridiculously in depth.
7 of the actors won awards for their roles in it aswell. Would definitely give it another shot if you ever get the time.
