Haha, Cisse didn’t even need a chance to score! That’s how good he is 😉 Thank God for that, a massive stroke of luck, doesn’t change the fact that we were awful 2nd half. Worst 2nd half performance I’ve seen by us since the 5-2 defeat at Craven Cottage. We didn’t capitulate like then so I’m thankful for that, but we were so wooden, static and just… awful. Unlucky West Brom. But I’m delighted with the win of course!!!

Let’s hope that shocking display was a one off and we can draw a line under it whilst still taking the 3 points. Obertan so frustrating… he’s great at times but he was shocking today, as were a few.

I’ve gotta be honest we were so lucky there. Maybe that’s what we need to get us going. We looked hopeless at times. Krul saving our skin. What a keeper. Newcastles best ever keeper?

Santon for me, Colo had a rare off game. Obertan was shockingly bad. Cabaye and perch, so so. Not pretty aside for most of the 1st half, but still 3 points in the bag. Ba took his chance well and i thought that aside from the time he tried to shoot at the corner flag Shola played well. WBA are actually pretty good side so it was always going to be tight.

a win is a win,, but how much luck do we carry

we have to be the worst footballing side in the league right now,

im sure pardew has got coaches badges,, but im not sure how,
his tactics are awful , his use of subs , well that begers belief , first, obertan,, ( who was poor) puts him on the left, hmmm why not fergy,, then switchs him to the right side, then puts sammy on the left,, hmm why not fergy,,,

you pardew fans can say what ever you like , but you all know your deluding yourselfs if you think he is a good coach, a good man manager, a good tactitian , he is no where near good at any of those things,,

WBA played us of the pitch today,, some of there passing was fantastic, and should have got at least a point, glad they did not but all luck

pardews gona say ,, there a good side,, as good as any we have played here, its no fluke there up there this season,, they have good players,,, jonas was a rock today, he worked his socks off,, if im honest, i fancy him, i wish he would cut his hair, if he didnt have that tash id swear he was a girl,, lmao

    this was shit

I should have voted for Krul….No one else really played well. Seemed like a bunch of headless chickens running around after the first 20 minutes.

Krul made 2 amazing saves. The rest of the team looked decidedly iffy today. If Ba had of maybe played out the 90 mins then things might have been different, but Krul was definitely our best player today. Honorable mention for Sammy Ameobi though for the goal (via Cisse).

Win….. moan about how bad we were but lucky
Lose…. moan about how bad we were
Draw… moan about how bad we were and lucky not to lose

There is just no pleasing some people.

We have played 9 games, fair dos, some pretty poor showings, some good luck, some bad luck. We are 3 pts off 5th place. We have yet to play well but are still holding our own. Even Lawro reckoned we were class but not hit form yet. When we do then we’ll be back where we belong ..

Catchy I was referring to your comment that his use of subs beggars belief. Do you ever think before you rattle your grumpy arsed heart out on the keyboard.
It was a poor performance today and we were lucky. But it it takes a grade A moron to be so unhappy with a win.

Simpson was at fault for their goal. He nearly cost us the game again. Pardew did the right thing taking him off. We were far better on the right-hand side later in the second half.

Santon is our best player at the moment. We need to sell Tiote and maybe Cabaye for a combine fee of £50m.

    3 points are 3 points.

Sometimes you get those points when i n fairness maybe a draw was the real result but you take them and move on.

On our performance for me we were fortunate, we had nothing in midfield in terms of creation.

cabaye did not have a good game and perch and jonas grafted but they are not midfielders and if we continue to play players out of position when genuine midfielders for example are on the the bench then we may not continue to carry our luck.

Not one cross from the left in the first half at home, that is sacrilidge and only a couple in the second half, we have a lad who can peel oranges with his left foot according to AP in fergie yet he dosnt get a look in and we set up for a game at home with two defensive playing midfielders and cabaye who had an off day.

If AP feels perch and jonas are our midfield options when tiote is not here for the next two games then we are going to have our backs against the wall beacuse they will slice through us, i was just so dissopointed by our starting line up it really pulled me down especially at home.

You go for teams throats at home with width, we did not have any, i could not believe that.

three points but we wont get away with that sort of set up every time, and play liverpool with that starting team today and its backs against the wall and pray.

Wish everyone would stop slating Obertan, when him and Sammi came on, we looked quicker going forward, so me Gutierezz is looking past it, think we should start with Obertan or Sammi instead of Guti next week. As much effort as he puts in, he isn’t looking the same class as the others. Taylor start next week could also be a good call.

Midfield hardly existed. Strange how on Thursday the largely non purples kept possession, passed the ball to their own players, played with pace and were good value for the win. Some of the purples today need to watch a video of their seconds, on Thursday.

Krul was Man of the Match, sadly it’s too easy this time, we were shite today. Then again this was our bogey team after all.

What’s all this crap about Obertan playing bad / shocking ???? He was only on for like 30min and still showed more imagination and balls than anyone trying to create a chance and he came close twice to making the assist. Everyone else apart from Krul was far worse. Give Obertan a break geeeez! He has a couple of good games and comes on as a sub today and some expect him to perform a miracle? Some either expect too little from him or way too much. Fickle fickle. Support the lad will ya!

2-1 now that was a miracle.

    @JP…

Imagination is only part of the puzzle. Having the skills to execute those ideas is something else. Obertan simply gives the ball away far too often. Abysmal crossing, poor passing and woeful attempts to take on defenders all consistently result in loss of possession.

VANCANTOONFAN – Did you see Gutierrez play?? He was awful today and he’s been like that for a few games now. Gutierrez is a regular starter and is constantly losing us the ball in our most promising attacks. His passing is woeful and ALWAYS is every time he plays. Obertan has hardly played and it’s evident he is improving. He has more confidence in himself and takes defenders on with his pace unlike last season in his cameo appearances. He didn’t play great today but he only had 30 minutes ffs. HBA lost the ball loads of times today also and he has immense quality unlike Obertan so if I were you I would be more worried about that. After claiming HBA to be in the form of his Newcastle career right now his perfomance did not back this up. HBA is my favourite player here but he should be showing more consistency by now. So my point is how can you give Obertan stick when he’s hardly played for us in general and he is doing better than last season.

Too many players were awful today to just put the blame on one person.
