Mehdi Abeid’s Brother On Trial At Newcastle

There’s an interesting story coming out today that Mehdi Abeid’s younger brother Walid, played the second half in Newcastle U 21’s 4-0 defeat at Sunderland this afternoon, when he replaced 17 year-old Adam Campbell in the game.

Walid Abeid – played 45 minutes for U21 side this afternoon

Walid Abeid is 19 years old, about one year younger than his brother Mehdi, who is on Newcastle’s books and signed fifteen months ago as a free agent from Lens.

The news is that the Frenchman showed some decent touches in the second half, but we’ll have to wait and see if Newcastle will add a second set of brothers to their squad with Shola and Sammy Ameobi playing first team games together at Newcastle.

It turns out that Walid has previously been on trial at Arsenal and also recently at Middlesbrough during the summer, and he has played for St Etienne and Fulham youth teams earlier in his career.

In fact Walid joined Fulham from St Etienne in 2010, but failed to make any progress, and the left-sided attacking midfielder can also play up front as a second striker.

We’d be a little surprised if Newcastle offer Walid a contract.

What do you think?

Forget about his brother, what about Mehdi ? . Looks great and scores pre season but is forced out by Vuckic and Gosling for some reason. Very strange indeed

There is some talk of attitude and lack of application in training.
Could be some minor disciplinary issueswe don’t know about.

Following on from my previous post. Do we really want 8 yrs. of Pardew style hoofball where we grind out results and never look like scoring more than one goal per game.

Liverpool have recognised that the way forward is with a slick passing quick tempo approach hence the ditching of dinosaur Dalglish.

With players like Obertan who has no brain for the game and Jonas who has no end product ever, how can we provide service to the strikers without hoofing it.

Pardew is either deluded or too set in his thinking to make the team a fast flowing unit.

Yes we have been well organised enough to grind out some results with a lot of good fortune tohelp us but do we really get entertained watching the same cautious shyte every week.

    Bring back the entertainers.

I fully agree with you in ur reply to check. Pple want a man who took us to 5th with memorable games against united Chelsea and Liverpool sacked?? That is not a valid opinion lads. That is plain moronic. I mean we have 13 points 4 off a champions league place with fairly comfortable games coming up.
ask any football fan what they think of moyes?? They will tell U his done a fantastic job on a limited budget etc etcost will say his the next united manager or a big team will surely come in for him soon etc etc. But Everton year after year have piss poor starts, they have hardly been in Europe and are second best most of the times to their rivals (like the unwashed here)
But Everton fans stuck by him and now he has a fantastic squad and they play some nice football. I bet U a million pounds that if he was at nufc, after his normal piss poor starts most on here would be banging for him to be sacked and that his clueless etc.
If we sack AP who do U want him to be replaced by realistically, bearing in mind the constraints our board has??

In AP we found a man who can get results, motivate his players with his man management (Ben arfa) take his boards decisions on the chin (re transfers) i could go on.
Where will U find a better man for the job, who won’t bail out on us???

Really hope that’s not the case. With Vuckic and Gosling out injured this is when Mehdi should be getting his chance with the first team.

Medhi Abeid’s the most promising player at the club. Miles ahead of Vuckic, Gosling and Bigirimana.

Yeah because Vuckic and Gosling have set the world on fire with their performances haven’t they. From the very little I have seen from Abeid he is clearly talented and more importantly not made of glass, why not give him a shot ?

He must have been caught out on the slash before a game or something. He’d probably do a better job than Cabaye at the moment. Infact, Cabaye needs to be dropped in order for him to pick up his game. Give Abeid the chance.

    Its Ketsy,
    Its Ketsy Ti-ime!

Could it be that Abeid is not being selected much because his performances are under par, inconsistent or otherwise affected by his lack of application? Or do you think he is not one of Pardew’s favourites and will never get into the first team no matter how good he is? I dont think it’s the latter.

Drop Cabs to make him shape up? Ho ho ho you are a card.

It would be good to actually drop Cabaye for a game or 2 even just to freshen things up but i dont think we have anyone who can step up at the moment!!

Here is the status of his would be replacements at the club:

Abeid for whatever reason does not get a game could maybe do with a loan move

Marveux does not look to have the heart to get stuck in to be a success in the premiership although this could change as he does have a good range of passing and has skills

Vuckic and Gosling injured and to be honest did not look good enough to dictate games at Premier league level

Raylor same as Vuckic and Gosling

Anita not sure about him in Midfield yet to be honest think he would be much much better as a Fullback as he would get more time on the ball there as well and him and Santon on the overlap with Fergy and Arfa would be exciting as hell!!

So it looks like we are going to have to keep playing players till they come back to form i think one of the main problems is that last season we were kind of a surprise package and every team is giving us special treatment like the speed that Cabaye, Ba and Cisse get closed down is unreal !!

I don’t understand it either, even if we have started the season does the man not deserve a bit of respect for finishing 5th and getting us in Europe!! I honestly believe that if we aren’t playing 433 at the moment it’s because he thinks wee likely to concede too many goals doing so at the moment, I mean if our defenders are as bad as the doom mongers say they are then shouldn’t we be scared of leaving them more exposed at the back

That’s one of my main points against the validity of the doom mongers arguments, they will talk about how rubbish pardew and how he should be doing so much more with this super talented squad yet in th next post they will say how shite half of our players, watch this, many of them constantly contradict themselves

These guys are getting closed down quicker. They are seen as “danger men”. In theory, this should leave more space for others. Something just isn’t clicking at the moment though. I am a very positive fan but even I agree we are playing crap at the moment. Something has to change!

Calling for Pards head is a joke.

I think we will lose (hope not) to Liverpool. Maybe a draw. Then after that, we have some very winable games and we might be able to get some momentum going.

For now we just need to get behind the lads whatever.

    first time poster

im a fan for more than 30 year andd a season ticket holder for 16 year now, and i can honestly say, something is not right with our team

i hate the idea of changing managers again,, but he is gona make pretty hard for himself if he continues on this path he seems to be walking,,

yesterday he said after the match in his interview that we had just played thursday,, i hope he ment the club had played thursday,, tired legs out there,, ?? these guys are professional footballers that live a very pampered life style, and on top of that we are only 9 games into a new season,,
most of that team had had a weeks full rest,, only training,, or lack of training as it is starting to look like, we can not pass to each other, we can not hold onto the ball,

me and a lot of guys around me are baffled by team fornations and team selections tactics and substitutions , and now questions are starting to be asked if he knows what he is doing,, that game yesterday was the worst game i have seen at SJP in a long time, and i just dont know which game some ppl where watching in the first half to say we just shaded it,, that is so far from the truth,, we had a couple of chances,, but we where being tought how to pass the ball by an average team in our own home,,, the second half only got worse,,

last season we carried a fair bit of luck, and its followed us into this season, which is great, we all need it,, but that has got us as many points as his tactics have

im not sure what he is trying to prove by playing so many of our footballer out of position, in every match players are swapping like it is musical chairs,, now there was a time wen the 2 wingers would switch,, but pardew has taken 3 steps on from that, there isnt many of our team that finish the game where they started it,

he can blame injuries all he wants , but we have a good squad of players, that for some reason he has split into 2 groups, europe and league,, the european squad looks a better one than the league one, right now, but why wont he mix them up and come up with a great team for the league

yesterday,, jonas, he is being made to look like a joke, and that is a shame, because i know he is a good footballer,
perch, out of all the players that have had a bad start to there NUFC carreer, he has improved the most, but only in tackling,, he can not pass 5 yards,, his highlight yesterday was a pass with the outside of his foot,

sorry i can not see any improvement in Obertan, still runs fast, he tried 2 crosses yesterday but sent them accross like bullets,, an outlet holds onto the ball,, he just runs into trouble, step over step over loses the ball

williamson, a big brick, slips trips and falls,, thats who he is,
shola,, is he really a right side of a 3 up front,, now as much as i dont think Obertan is any good,, he would have been more suited out there, sholas game is now flick ons, from long balls,, but he got a game because of being subed and walking down the tunnel against the scum
i hear ppl on hear say we are give someone a tanking soon,, im sorry but unless we get a few pens in there we will never score more than 3,, we nearly always score, then sit and defend and try counter attack football,

im sorry, but pardew needs to shapen up soon, or he will lose the fans,,

we are making very good footballers look like league one footballes, and i know we have good players

jonh dahl thomason is a good example of us playing a guy out of position and making him look poor,, he left us and had a great carreer ,, lets not lose some of our good footballers this way please

I am not complaining and I am sure Pardew has his reasons I just thought it was strange that a player who featured heavily in pre-season and did well then gets no where near the first team with numerous injury’s and suspensions, same goes for Marveaux. IMO our biggest problem this season has been a lack of creativity and is it to crazy to think Abeid or Marveaux could give us this spark ? , I don’t think so at all

    On previous articles:
-Watch Cisse go now! I know many here get upset at the Ba-Cisse duo, but if AP can somehow get them firing we are in for Shearer-Ferdinand partnership. We need our best 11 on the field and they fall into that category. They just need to switch to MF positions during the game, as everyone plays 5 these days. Come on, a 4-4-2 can easily transform into a 4-3-3 or a 4-5-1 these days, players are athletic enough.
-On HBA, simple: Please please don’t leave, dude. We’ll make a hero out of you yet. And, we will win things if you stay.
    – On progress so far, well on paper we look good, only a few points away from top 5, top in Europa… Lots of players coming through (btw, where’s Marveaux, Amalfitano, Abeid), we are really close to building a real squad. Let’s not forget, we didn’t play well in the first 10 games last year either (yep).

Ben arfa Jonas cabaye tiote (especially) santon shola anita Williamson krul colo simmo have all been guilty of losing possession, even when not pressured. It’s not right blaming two players for faults that the whole team makes regularly. And it’s also daft to blame the manager when these players are doing these faults. You have players of Anita, cabaye and tiote’s quality on the pitch, you expect them to be able to pass the ball ten yards.

Starting to sound awfully negative now like.

We gave possession away lots of times yesterday and that is where the frustration comes from with the vans, we see passing it around the back four as a success when other teams do it for fun, how many teams have outplayed us? Has anyone actually looked at the team itself…… Krul cannot fault him other than perhaps his distribution but he is up there with the best in the league for me. As a fan of attacking fullbacks i think simpson often just lofts the ball in when he does get forward and isn’t very composed at all, williamson likewise and he for a tall guy he barely wins out. Collo i cannot fault and i find it hard to criticise santon, he gets forward a lot but he also gets back just as much and he certainly looks better on the right not having to cut back.

Midfield for me we have a player on the right in ben arfa who loves to dribble and rarely goes down the wing and whips a ball in. Tiote is a liability with 30 yellows in 60 games, cabaye said himself he is coming into full fitness and needs to get forward more, we only ever have one or two strikers in the box so what are the chances of the ball falling to one of our players? Jonas…what is he? he is playing on the wing but is he a winger? plays more defensive if you ask me so that’s three player in midfield sitting back. Ba and Cisse do not link up at all and i actually favour Ameobi playing with either and that is saying something.

Thats not me being negative, that is me being a realist about the team. Dont like it then lump it. Some of you super fans who are super positive need to stop acting above yourself. You are no better than the rest of us. I am a season pass holder and more than entitled to give MY OPINION. It wont change out but what else can i do on an NUFC blog? Name call? talk about fifa? transfers? or the past result and perfomance?

Nick 9, yes the vans are frustrated but you should see the fans 🙂 Your points make sense, and your opinion is respected and well argued. Still, I disagree regarding Tiote, he’s an asset not a liability. Can he improve? Sure. Also, regarding Jonas. He never shies away from the ball.

My take on it is that we can only improve. Pards normally shakes things up for the second half of the season, so hopefully we are in contention for Europe around January. A couple of new signings should boost the squad then aswell.
