With Mike Williamson getting a well deserved rest yesterday, and Fabricio Coloccini seeing red and a three game suspension, it’s very likely that both will start for Newcastle at Club Brugge on Thursday night.
Mike Williamson – back in the starting lineup on Thursday and next Sunday
And being in Europe is one of the cushions available if players get sent off in the Premier League because they can still play in Europe, as we’ve seen with Cheick Tiote.
Newcastle should be able to field a strong side at Club Brugge on Thursday night, and Newcastle’s opponents were again beaten over the weekend, for their fourth defeat in a row, this time losing 1-0 at home to Zulte Waregem.
So Club Brugge should be there for the taking on Thursday, but we’ve though that kind of thing before, and been wrong about it.
Alan Pardew will again rely on some of out top youngsters – and maybe this could be a starting eleven.

It would be good to see both Sammy and Shola up front together, and after Sammy’s decent showing yesterday, that combination must be closer for these European games.
It may also be a time to give Sylvain Marveaux a game, and we think Alan Pardew will want to keep Vurnon Anita playing so he gets used to how things are done at Newcastle, as he tries to settle down on Tyneside.
So at least we’ll have Coloccini playing at Brugge on Thursday night and then at home to CS Maritimo on Thursday 22nd November, after we’ve played West Ham and Swansea at home in the Premier League.
