Repost from about two thread ago but there have been so many in the last couple of minutes.

I thought Anita was one of the few players who was decent today. He was actually making runs into the box from midfield whereas Cabaye and Ben Arfa were just standing around on the edge of the area. We weren’t playing long ball either – we just lacked any quality or cutting edge in the final third. Obertan should have been put on sooner but apart from that Pardew didn’t get it wrong tactically – this one is on the players.

    We were shocking today.

    poor tactics as all season

poor performance from the players as all season.

When we play in europe we often go 433 and use more youngsters and it works.

If the senior players keep performing like this a couple have to be dropped. It might give them the kick up the backside they need, it’s all too comfortable for them.

Yes, there needs to be more competition for places. The first teamers can play as badly as they like and they still get picked every week. Players like Anita, Bigirimana, Obertan, Sammy, Ferguson and Shola deserve more starting opportunites if the first team are playing as badly as they are now.

Add Abeid, Amalfitano and Marveaux to that list -we still have plenty of options in midfield.

cabaye was shocking fom the 1st whistle, ben arfa was shocking most of the game and fergie did nowt aswell even though most of the posters on here have called for him to start!
but ah well it looks like jonas has got a bad one so most of you’ll be happy with that!
shockin performance YES but not pardews fault at all!!

Agree 100% you could see he was livid and trying to implement changes but the lads just werent up for it would if happily traded any of them for nolan today!!!
Also thats 11 games we’ve had to watch cisse’s half arsed attempts at playing a match ppl can call ba selfish all they want atkeast he still tries when played out if position

I honestly don’t see us spending much in Jan.

From what I gather Ashley is not aiming for champs league.

That requires a lot of investment to get top 4 and sustain it.

I think the europa league is good to be in but financially there wont be much benefit.

The goal I think for Ashley is to have a team that is safe in the prem league. so around 10th, anything higher is a bonus.

I disgaree, whether im thinking with my head or my heart, i can see us bringing in 3/4 decent players in Jan. Douglas or debuchy for starters. I honestly believe we skimped out in the summer because we see January as the bargain bucket window and in a way, i agree. If we can pick up a few players going out of contract on the cheap ill be pleased. I suppose the downside is, our season is already going down the toilet

I too think the performance is shocking from the players.

Pardew doesn’t help by constantly picking players who are under performing in a system that doesn’t suit them.

Pardew cannot make the players pass the ball better, they need to take responsibility. They have to want it more, too often our players go hiding and aren’t screaming for the ball.

Pardew however is the manager, ultimately it is his team. If people aren’t playing well he needs to rotate them for others or find a new way to get them motivated.

Absolutely disgusting. A few injuries and bans and we suffer big time. This is what happens when the owners doesn’t back their managers. Pardew not to blame at all, you can only f..k with the co.k you got if you understand my meaning lol.

The best part of today – Thank God they only gave an extra 5 minutes extra time and that seemed like 10 minutes too much.

We could have played on for another 90 minutes and the only thing we would achieve would be a bigger defeat. Shocking display of ineptitude.

    How can I post that?

Well getting into the champions league does cost money, you need to buy players.

In the summer we undervalued players or just couldn’t afford them like debuchy, douglas, de jong, carroll all players who would have pushed the team on.

I’m not slating Ashley, I dont mind he doesn’t want champions league. I would prefer it if he did and we had 30/40 million to spend a season like chelsea, city, man utd, etc but we dont.

It’s the same as most clubs in the league…..look at everton, west brom, fulham,….all the same as us.

They spend a little after scouting well and then aim for a top half finish.

If everything clicks and the team performs above expectations we as fans get a bonus of european football.

If a team wants champs league year in year out they must spend big.

And what happens at the end is………….lol !!! Good film actually.

Other teams seem to be managing fine in europe and besides it’s virtually a different team on Thursdays so little to no excuse there.

Pardew is throttling the life out of any creativity whatsoever. He’s trying to be a poor man’s mourinho with ultra defensive 1-0 wins. I can’t bear to watch us at the moment it’s so poor. Just endless long balls, people out of position, wrong formation etc etc. Real waste of money.

Pardew stumbled on a winning formula last year with cisse scoring all those goals from Cabaye’s through balls but he’s just kicked it all in the long grass.

Pardew would rather bring back carroll who was not much of a threat at all today than play good football.
It’s going to be a very long 8 years!

I was right all along. We should’ve signed Debuchy, Vertonghen, Marvin Martin and Loic Remy in the summer. We then wouldn’t need to play Williamson and Simpson. Williamson yet again cost us the game. He made a dreadful mistake in the second half with a diabolical pass which led to a chance for Andy Carroll. Pardew needs to be terminated. Abeid and Marveaux should be getting more of a look in and Williamson and Simpson shouldn’t be on the field. Obertan cannot pass or cross a ball accurately. Ben Arfa is the best player by a mile. Santon is very decent. Cabaye doesnt influence the game enough. We need at least 4 new first team signings in January. We need 2 strikers, but 1 will be sufficient enough.

why isn’t pardew to blame at all? We’re playing at home against a promoted team. We have just as many good if not better players than west ham. It’s hardly a one off we’ve been c..p all season.

I would be tempted o drop cabaye and have benny just behind a single striker.

then have marvoux and oberta either side of him.

Obertan hasn’t been great, neither has marvoux but they have both had the odd moment in europe.

It’s not so much about these guys making the team better as cabaye is better at his best.

It’s more about giving them a go and letting cabaye know that he will be dropped, even for a lesser player if he doesn’t pull his finger out.

I was really looking forward to this season and had high hopes with some of the talent we have in our squad, but Pardew is not playing our strongest formation for the sake of Demba Ba and he needs to grow a pair and just go with 4-3-3 and stop hitting the ball long and bypassing our main play maker Cabaye. I think Pardew is a good man manager but weak tactically and poor with substitutions. God I hate being an NUFC supporter sometimes

Now I’m not saying Wishing injury on anyone, but if Gutierrez is out, perhaps we can have someone who actually offers something going forward on the wing. 🙂

And now perhaps we can have 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1

We need a cb in January preferably a Rb as well

    I agree.

Pardew is not the only one to blame, the players take that too, but he is the manager.

It is his job to find a system that works and get the best team on the pitch. not the best 11 players but the best team.

Pardew and the players need to take a look at themselves.

Personally I would get cabaye and ben arfa (best two players in my opinion – well in terms of how they can run the game (obviously tiote breaks play, cisse and ba finish, but those two run the midfield and therefore the game) and come up with a plan to get the best out of them which allows them to score and creat chances for the forwards.

Surely Pards must be losing his faith in the 4-4-2 and will rubbish it for a better system.

But the players were awful today as well. Cisse once again subbed for Shola and lumpball. Fergie was probably the best player, with Hatem behind him.

Willo nearly sealed our fate by giving way to Carroll.
