Jonas Gutierrez Out For Two Months?

There’s still been no official word from Newcastle United on just how bad Jonas Gutierrez’  injury is, and after the game on Sunday there was even some rumors that it wasn’t a bad injury,  and that he could even play this Saturday.

Jonas Gutierrez – injured on Sunday after only 23 minutes

The news today is that the sister of Jonas Gutierrez has tweeted that her brother will be out from six to eight weeks, but of course we have no idea if this is true or not – whether it’s his sister and what they say is true,  and we should all probably wait until Newcastle release some news on the Argentine International.

But this would be more bad news for Newcastle if it is true, because Jonas is one of the key players that Alan Pardew relies on in the Premier League.

On the other hand we do have Shane Ferguson who can play on the left wing, as well as Sylvain Marveaux, so if this story is true it would give a good chance for Shane Ferguson to have a decent run in the side.

And Sammy Ameobi, who has picked up a slight hamstring strain and was not in the squad on Sunday,  can also play on the left side too.

Another possibility for Alan Pardew is to switch Ben Arfa to the left wing, and bring in Gabby Obertan on the right, so there are a number of different options Newcastle would have, if Jonas is indeed out for up to two months.

But we should wait until Newcastle say something about the injury before assuming too much.

Cue the arseholes saying that this is good news and now Pardew will have to do what they have been telling him to do for months!!

    This is good news 😛

Now normally I wouldn’t be to bothered with Jonas being injured, but we are stretched thin, and managers aren’t as keen on throwing youngsters into the fray as quickly as some fans would suggest.

But maybe this will be a chance for Marveaux, who knows

Another option, though it seems Pardew is reluctant to do at time, is to revert back to what we all want to see a 4-3-3 with Ba on the left, Cissé on top and Benny and the right.

    @Fray
Agreed – I think he is one of those players the team will miss – Guti puts in some serious mileage.

It’s not just good news fray bentos it’s great news the lad has been poor for some time now,yes he works hard but he’s by far the weakest player in the starting 11,we have far better squad players

Well I must be an arsehole then.

Listen, I really rate Jonas have done since he joined and ur right he really puts a shift in but, and this have happened before, he seems to become complacent.(before Benny came he did then when he started getting dropped his performances shot through the roof)

I think it is a good thing as someone said before it gives other maybe more eager players a chance…..

And maybe you shouldn’t call people arseholes for having a different opinion to your own…..

It`s one thing to think there are better options, quite another thing to be happy one of our players is injured. Jonas deserves a lot better than that.

No one is happy that he is injured!!! I however am happy that his space in the team has been freed up to allow someone else to get a game….. albeit in unfortunate circumstances

I like Jonas, as a player he is dedicated BUT i am keen to see what some of the others can do. Maybe an extended run for Sammy or Marveaux will be good for the team, has to be said that based on the draw with Brugge, Marveaux has possibly the best dead ball delivery in the squad (not including R Taylor).

I was at the game against West Ham (season ticket holder) and have seen Obertan a few times, but based on that performance he would never put on a Newcastle shirt again for me. No dedication at all, pulled out of every challenge, every header and has no bottle to take the shot on. JOKE OF A PLAYER!
