Let’s Hope Cheick Tiote Can Make The Difference Today

Cheick Tiote returns from his three game suspension for being sent off at Sunderland after 25 minutes, and we have to hope that Cheick’s energy and bite in midfield can help Newcastle get only our 4th win of the season this afternoon at St. James’ Park against a beatable Swansea City side.

Cheick Tiote – in training this week

Alan Pardew came under some severe criticism last Sunday, for the poor start Newcastle made in that game, when we again found ourselves behind in a game and trying to rescue the points in the second half, which we failed to do, and went down to our second home defeat of the season to an ordinary-looking West Ham side.

This is what the Newcastle manager had to say about Cheick’s return this morning in the local press:

“Cheick’s season starts this weekend, until January 4 when he goes away or whenever it is. He is a massive player for us.” “His best form will come from more games. It’s just about giving him games, getting him back to his best. “

“He loves to train but he really loves to play, so we might play him in three of the four games coming up.” “He has to free himself up. The sending-off in the derby is going to affect him. My chat will be to say ‘Come on Cheick, let’s get you back to your best’.

“He will pick up bookings, that’s what he does, but we need him to control the silly tackles. Slightly mistimed tackles are what we can handle.”

In truth a lot depends on the performance of Cheick today, and whether he can help wrestle the midfield away from a good footballing side in Swansea City.

We hope he can, because another draw or defeat will be hard to take – in fact it will be very hard to take.
